Sometimes the administration has explicitly tried to keep the rebels in a stalemate with Assad; Secretary of State Kerry said that it was his policy to do just that, in order to promote negotiations and “peace.” The result, so obvious as to make that statement a shameless Orwellianism, has been to keep the war dragging on.

Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) carrying out airstrikes in Libya was different from U.S. airstrikes against Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant forces in Iraq, Pentagon spokesman Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby told a briefing, because the U.S. was acting in Iraq, in a “very targeted” manner, at the request of its government.
“This wasn’t some unilateral decision by the United States to strike targets inside Iraq.”
“We discourage other nations from taking a part in Libya’s issues through violence,” Kirby said. “We want the issues solved in Libya to be done peacefully and through good governance and politics and not violence.”

Obama has been floundering with a complete lack of strategy to fight Islamic extremists ISIS, but all of that changed on Monday. A State Department official announced that the key to defeating the murderous barbarians is not bombs or boots on the ground, but rather finding them jobs.

This is so ridiculous I now wonder if the President has any brain at all.

If obama and the US is thinkn of fighting isis and major islamic group, try and form a major power bloc that can fight insurgency that is to say make it a world fight that will involve world powers and other smaller counties in africa europe asai and the rest in doing that critical descions will be undertaken collectively not just be america alone

ISIS was one of the so called 'moderate' groups supported, financed and armed by President Obama to bring down Assad.
The war was unnecessarily prolonged by the US which enabled the terrorists Syria and Russia warned about to get further ground in Syria with a weakened central government.

He got a doctorate in Islamic studies at Baghdad university, jihadi websites say, and after years of fighting with al Qaeda groups became leader of its Islamic State in Iraq in 2010.

A year later, sensing opportunity when the uprising against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad erupted, Baghdadi sent an aide across the border to expand al Qaeda's foothold there.
