@ OP, no doubt it is a good move any act that boosts the morale of our fighting soldiers. The unfortunate thing is, this falls within "a little too late" for millions who have made up their minds on Jonathan. This move and many recent ones are an indication that Jonathan was playing politics with people's lives since about six years ago hoping to get sympathy in the process. Unfortunately for him, the strategy has backfired big time.

Only the gullible ones will change their mind on him based on the success of six weeks. If anything, it strengthens people's resolve to vote GEJ out as we now know that he was wickedly allowing innocent people to die needlessly.

Before you quote me to say Buhari knows a thing about Boko Haram, please think twice because you will need to prove it and besides it's an indictment on Jonathan that he is incapable of prosecuting BH sponsors, criminals and looters.

it is a good thing to encourage the living heroes by way of promotion, salary increment, etc. it will do more good and of better encouragement to living heroes when they notice how the government take good care of the children and wives/husbands of the fallen heroes. this will make them fight without looking back, since they will be fully awared that even if they fall their families will not suffer.

Sorry...but this is a dumb move. Promotions?....military personnel are given medals for such....Medal of Valour or whatever. If he found it fit to add some monetary bonus fine...but promotions? And what about the soldiers before who liberated other places?....and the ones who would in the future? Boost morale in the short run yes.... because soldiers would go all out on the next mission with the hope of getting promotions in the end..... what happens to morale if they don't? It is dumb to not look before you leap.
