favored247: It will not affect you when applying for another visa or coming back to the US but please keep all your proof of payments (reciepts) and get a Zero balance letter from the hospital so you can present that when required to show you paid all your bills and you will be fine. 1 Like 1 Share |

Hello my people am back with another question, My Doc has given me a date for appointment via email, Is that email sufficient to be presented at POE if asked for an appointment letter or Do I need a proper letter to use at POE. My Dr. says if I require a letter to obtain entry to the US, I will be charged a fee but If I meet the appointment, the fee will be part of my total OB fee, if I don't it will be none refundable. I intend to use the Doctor, Do I request for the letter and pay fee or I use the email that already states my appointment date. Please I need answers. Thanks again. |

A word of caution to take note... my 2cents Feds Raid California 'Maternity Hotels' for Birth Tourists Southern California apartment complexes that doubled as "maternity hotels" for Chinese women who want made-in-America babies were raided early Tuesday, capping an unprecedented federal sting operation, officials said. NBC News was on the scene as Homeland Security agents swept into The Carlyle, a luxury property in Irvine, California, which housed pregnant women and new moms who allegedly forked over $40,000 to $80,000 to give birth in the United States. "I am doing this for the education of the next generation," one of the women told NBC News. None of the women were arrested; they are being treated as material witnesses, and paramedics were on hand in case any of them went into labor during the sweep. Instead, the investigation was aimed at ringleaders who pocketed hundreds of thousands of dollars tax-free to help Chinese nationals obtain visas and then pamper them until they delivered in an American hospital at a discount, court papers show. "It's not necessarily illegal to come here to have the baby, but if you lie about your reasons for coming here, that's visa fraud," said Claude Arnold, special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations for Los Angeles. All told, the feds raided 20 locations in Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties, targeting three competing birth tourism schemes, officials said. The suspected operators have not been charged but are being questioned. The organizers who allegedly ran the Carlyle site, Chao Chen and Dong Li, used a website to drum up business, touting the benefits of a child with U.S. citizenship: 13 years of free education, low-cost college financial aid, less pollution, and a path for the entire family to emigrate when the child becomes an adult. tbaby2015: Personally, I like to avoid having to do lot of explanation to the VO. Except it is the Doctores Para Ti letter people have had issues with, I think you can stick to your original intent. But it really doesn't matter if you change hospital plans, plans do change for everyone from time to time. |

This is a case of fraud, it doesn't affect pregnant people in the US. The govt has a case with those harboring them and collecting such an exuberant amount of money from them humanshado: 1 Like |

tbaby2015: I dont think your changing hospital is a big deal, but i would advice you have a good reason for doing this just incase the Vo should ask. Or better still if you dont want to complicate things you can stick to your old hospital for the interview and port to the new hospital when you get to the States since according to you they are both in the same axis. |

MrMandilas: I think with your 3.2M and wiffys 1.6M you guys are good to go Since her passport bears the same name with you i dont think change of name etc is neccessary, just go with your marriage certificate. Try and go back to the old thread and read back and put together your burden of proof. Are you guys applying as a family? If yes then both of you need to go together for the interview. Decide on the state you want to travel to and start looking for hospital and doctor in that axis. I hope i have been able to throw some light on your concerns. |

dere5:Thank u so much.If we get in touch with the doctor, is there documents that i should get from him or her to solidify our chances of getting the visa? because in ur burden of proof. u stated a document from the doctor in the states. will i demand for that from the doctor or will they just send it to me? if yes, am i going to pay? My wedding certificate if from Mountain of fire. is it ok? Thanks for helping me. Chukwu gozie gi. 1 Like |
