You weren't exact on the reason why you wanna quit. I'll suggest you continue with your current workplace, but if you really wanna take a bow, be sure of an already available opportunity that suits your personality if not, I'll suggest once again that you stay back, find someone you can confide in or be brave enough to walk up to your boss and pour your heart. What's the worst that could happen 9 Likes |

Well, judging from your write up one can tell you're a smart and intelligent one. Commendable. However I feel you didn't do justice as to why you do intend leaving the place. It rather suggests like you've had your fill and just want a bigger challenge and pay. My opinion is you're on the right track. Keep job hunting whole still putting in your best. You never know, they might be planning a promotion and better pay rise with greater responsibilities if that's what you want. Hope this helped. Better still, you could write officially seeking more responsibility in your work place. I doubt any employer would turn that done. Even if they do it would be fore a good reason. 3 Likes |

I will suggest she should not collect anything from them for her past training and since her parent have decided to support her she should ignore any help from the firm. Their was this man in our firm that was given such opportunity and he was paid all the amount of money he spent and was later sent abroad for 18 months course/training only for him to return and and resign and the firm took him to court and he was given two choice either to pay N200million or spend 20years in jail. But if you still wants to collect the money and dump them then be very careful Waringing: in life nothing is free even in free town. 14 Likes 3 Shares |

Redoil:Yea, you are right, the MizMyColi I know would never want to cheat anybody. Her conscience will disturb her till eternity if she do. Thing is, she should not ask for any help from them. She should find a good excuse to give them when they offer to help. Coli, I understand you want something more challenging which is good, a friend once told me that sitting in front of a computer 24/7 is not her thing so she changed her job and I can tell you categorically that she is better today. You won't work for your current boss forever, you will leave him/her one day and they will still hurt so I think you should just do it if you have made up your mind. 4 Likes |

Firstly, you shouldn't accept their offer concerning your program. It's cheating and you have to keep a good track. You can come up with something as an excuse like what you said up there-----your parents. If you accept the offer, you're tying yourself down for nothing less than 3 years. Secondly, you shouldn't quit just yet. You've got to be sure of where you're going before leaving. If there's something on ground, all you have to do is to walk up to your boss and explain things to him. Let him know you are no longer comfortable with the job as it no longer meets your talents. You have to grow professionally. I understand the nagging feeling of been ungrateful that may come with it but you just have to shun it and take a bold step. What matters here is how you present it. Make him understand you're grateful but you need to grow. If you're holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or talents, let it go----Bishop T.D Jakes 6 Likes 1 Share |

What you are experiencing is not new That is the lot of 95 percent of people worldwide not only in Nigeria You are working in a private company owned by an individual who has not built processes Such places exhibit a common characteristic of fast growth if you are a favorite of the owner or career dearth if you are not liked. The options ahead of you are 1. Move to another department in the company: Allows for breadth and exposure Not so good if you are the ambitious type as you are more of a generalist n not a specialist This may not be a huge change as you are already tired of the company 2.Move to another company In this case you have to be strategic and patient as you have to ensure the new job has what you want. Very few companies will give you what you want..a structure I did not see money as an issue for you so I assume structure and development are your key value drivers 3. Leave and start your own thing Risk fraught No need to expatiate on this 4. Change career This is also a possibility as you have some experience and can tailor your resume to suit any role you'd like 5. Sabbatical and go for further education On the issue of reimbursement of training costs, that is possibly a new policy introduced because of you or only for those who have passed the first stage. You can take it If you have to leave before the year runs out, you can repay the company when exit benefits are being computed. 13 Likes |

Well I think you should think this through. Why not ask for a change of department if you feel your current job role isnt challenging enough. The company sees you as an asset and wouldnt want to lose you that is why they want to invest on you. You can also search for jobs online and submit your CVs in person to some organisations. Another thing is dont be too reliant on pay as a condition for taking a new offer remember companies will like to see what you can do and how good you are on the job. 2 Likes |

Have you considered Freelancing or starting your own company. Who says you have to have a physical office address when you start. You have the room to really do what you care about and pursue goals and ideals you really love. PS. Do not collect any form of sponsorship from your present company. Simply thank them for their concern and inform them that your parents have taken care of it. 3 Likes |

pickabeau1: Exactly!! pickabeau1: Yes I'm more a generalist and the ambitious type. There is no other department to move into here. pickabeau1: The head on your shoulders is one of the smartest and most objective I've seen around here. Yes Money is not so much of an issue, though I could use some improvement. Structure and Development as my key value drivers are the perfect words. I'd have to steal them I need the names of these companies o o o. Impossible is nothing. Perhaps, I should forward my CV to your mail? *fluttering eyelids* You could help forward to some persons you know pickabeau1: This is not yet my calling pickabeau1: This resonates with Number two above. I really don't mind. As long as it's something I'll be passionate about. My options are open. pickabeau1: That's in-view @further education pickabeau1: This sounds like a plan. This way, my conscience is put at ease. Thank you, thank you and thank you again! 3 Likes |

remsonik: Yes, thanks dear. I know they see me as an asset....but then......*sighs* I would want people to offer more insight on where to lookout for. I need a firm that delivers value in terms of structure, personal development and company development. Where there are processes and systems in place. Trust me dear, if na pay matter, I am not so keen. But then, improvement suppose dey naw. You get |

Matthewbriggs: @Emboldened Pickabeau gave an advice I think works for me. You should see it. About starting up something.....that's in the works. But then, my reasons for wanting paid employment, in addition to the reason outlined in my previous posts is not borne out of necessity, but out of the will and desire to do so. You get? I want to find my self, my voice, my place in the corporate world. |

MizMyColi: I was once in this type of situation and i can understand how is it being in a job where your development, on the job training, exposure and working in a structured environment is so critical at this early stage........................... Thank God you already define what you want and your desire, the next thing is to start searching for opportunities to achieve that....Please dont resign yet, make sure you have other alternatives before resigning cos a bird at hand as they said..................... I noticed there's this emotional attachement either to the company or your boss and you need to break that so that you wont feel bad if you decide to leave. Please try to avoid the offer of them sponsoring you cos that will attach you more to the organization. If you have seen sure alternatives, seek opinion from other close colleague for advice on how to go about resignation in the office cos you wont be the first nor the last to do so, walk up to your boss and explain yourself to him/her, let him understand why you are taking the step in your career development. Its always good to be loyal to your job than your employer cos your employer can decide to do away with you once they find out you are not adding value again but for your job (development, trainings and exposure e.t.c) will always be there for you. 4 Likes 1 Share |

pickabeau1: Okay. Fellow Nairalanders. I am the kind of person who wants to work, not out of necessity, but out of the will and desire to do so. I find that I have passion for the following - Carrying out Administrative/Human Resources duties - Account Management/Client Relationship Roles (with an organisation that delivers value in terms of structure, personal and organisational development, processes and systems). - Public Relations (I'm just a natural a this. I'm a people oriented individual) I'm not fixated on a certain career path. My options are very much open. My work experience spans 3 years. I'm open to private discussions. I would appreciate your suggestions in terms of companies to apply to, and certifications where necessary. 1 Like |
