Gosh, i taught they said it was the safest place in east well guess is just begining to look like an irony besides am not suprised bornu was once called home of peace.

I got a call as soon as it happened, and can say very AUTHORITATIVELY that terrorism has no hand in the explosion. The man, whose initials are EE was supposed to host some dignitaries (Gurugburu and co), and brought in huge fireworks (he is known to love fireworks).

Let it be known that the vibration caused damages up to 3km radius so, these must be excessive quantity, or some other materials. It was a single explosion. People are still counting losses, but thank God no life was lost.

It is violation of home safety and act of illogical and selfish reasoning to fill a residential building with a trailer load of fireworks. The police department should get the root cause of this and douse out appropriate disciplinary action for the perpetrator.

There's a heavy explosion this evening at Amokwe UDI LGA Enugu state few minutes ago , explosion is suspected to be from a house parked with fireworks from one oil rich man in the town. The explosion brought down the magnificent building which it where parked and so many buildings one or two kilometres away no casualties yet.........pics and details coming shortly

I had serious doubt, but my brother has visited the place, and gave details. He too was doubting the fireworks theory until he saw it first hand.

It is thought that the fireworks was meant to celebrate the expected victory of the Enugu state governorship candidate. Nobody knew what triggered the explosion, but the impact made boko haram pre learners.

Seven buildings in the compound were levelled. The fireworks keeper's house still stands, but the roof is completely gone. I understand the building is concrete hence, was able to withstand the pressure to a large extent. All bungalows within 150 metre radius are without roof. You can imagine that a beam from the store landed at a health centre (Ogbogo) 400 metres away!

Remnants of the fireworks remain scattered everywhere, with dust, as if a powerful cyclone struck. I still don't know what could have blown everything in a single bang! With all these, it is a miracle nobody was killed, though that compound is always unoccupied.
