Many people believe the exit of Obi from APGA created a huge vacuum. What was the vacuum
created and has it been closed?


I wouldn’t go as far as saying that Obi’s exit created a huge vacuum in the party,rather a kind of emotional dislocation for most party members, who were not psychologically prepared for his exit. He bestrode the state like a colossus; he embodied APGA and the reclamation and emancipation of Anambra State by its own people. It still jolts many of our party members when they see him dressed in another political party’s apparel that is not APGA’s.

Many party supporters publicly burnt their party uniforms bearing his image in a defiant display of outrage over his defection.
Now, hardly can one find anything with his image
on it in Anambra State.
There is still an ominous silence that descends
like a dark cloud each time his name comes up in
discussions or at party gatherings. Many people
still shake their heads in total disbelief as to how he tossed out a bird in hand to seek the multitude in the bush. To add insult onto injury, he uncharitably referred to APGA as an “empty shell” shortly after his
defection. Well, since he was the chief occupant of that shell for eight years, the indictment is his.
It has now become expedient to throw stones at his father’s house from the neighbour’s compound. Nevertheless, our party has moved beyond mourning his exit. The general perception is that this is a man who was carried shoulder high, who in the euphoria of the moment dared spit at the wind; he did himself the greatest disservice of all.



When Peter Obi left APGA, you were enraged by his action. Now, we understand there are moves to bring him back to the party. What is your take?


Well, we shall certainly welcome him back with open arms; after all, the return of the prodigal son was heralded with much fanfare. However, Peter Obi must bear in mind that he has voluntarily relinquished his rights as the firstborn. That void has been filled in his absence. If he returns he will need to toil for his own wealth, since he has frittered away his inheritance, the goodwill to which he was entitled under Ojukwu’s umbrella.
Obi was always prone to asking ‘Is Anambra State cursed or are we the cause?’ Well, he need look no farther than the mirror.
For years to come, the cautionary tale will be told and retold of a much loved son to whom much was given, and therefore, from whom much was expected; a man whose morbid fear of political oblivion drove him to the edge of the cliff, where he
committed political suicide; a man who had a date with history, but failed to show up at the appointed time. That man would be Peter Obi.

Honetsly,I dont feel the issues you raised should be a barrier.

Ojukwu is not just an anambra man,but a highly revered Igbo leader. Bianca's state of origin should not be an issue. Ruling her out on that basis looks divisive and lannish. I believe every Igbo man who has stayed long enough in any Igbo state and have contributed to its growth should be encouraged to aspire to any political position ; we (anambra) can be a leading light on political inclusion to other Nigerian states and promote unity among Igbo states. Bianca has earned the right to aspire to any position in anambra state.Biko unu ekwusikwana ife a ike,onwe ka osi ada na nti!.

On the basis of gender. I have this to say gents , that woman is made of steel! She comes off as an emotionally strong woman. I formed this opinion after I read her very measured and apt interview on the aftermath of Obis defection to PDP. I have been following her progress after that.I recognise the apathy towards women in a male dominated political terrain , hence I recommended that she be groomed by Obiano. By the time she rotates between two or three politically important positions ,she would have acquired the necessary skills required for governance.

I think she will make a good candidate.

Gov. Obiano signs $250m MoU for the Ogbunike Cave Resort Development

The State Government has signed a two hundred and fifty million dollar Memorandum of Understanding with Africa Project Finance and Development Limited forthe development of Ogbunike Cave into a World Class Park and Resort.

The agreement was signed at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
Our reporter, who covered the ceremony, said that under the arrangement, the company will design, develop, finance, construct and operate the state of the art park and tourist destination.

The equity distribution of the Memorandum of Understanding allocates seventy-five per cent to the company, fifteen per cent to the state government, five per cent to Oyi local government area and another five per cent to Ifite Ogbunike, while three per cent will be used for development and social responsibility projects in the area.

Governor Willie Obiano, in his speech, said the project would provide a comprehensive entertainment centre and facilitate total harnessing of the cave and make it attractive for tourism.

Governor Obiano assured that the project would be handled by a World Class Contractor who would give the state quality facilities for tourism and relaxation.

The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Chief Tony Onyima, explained that following Governor Obiano’s passion and directive to transform the age-old cave, that had been ignored over the years, the Ministry and Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, (ANSIPPA) accelerated work in attracting the investor and concluded modalities for the partnership to harness the potentials of the cave.

Chief Onyima said a schedule for the implementation of the project had been worked out and assured that by next year, some of the projects would be ready for commissioning and would transform the state with multiplier effects.The Managing Director of the company, Mr. Joachim Nwagbo, noted that within one year, Governor Obiano has turned the state into a first choice investment destination with effective security system and stable socio-political environment, attractive for direct funding of projects and strategic development initiative.

Mr. Nwagbo said in addition to the Ogbunike Cave project, the company was equally ready to finance an airport project, modern transport Scheme and has one-point-five billion dollars to invest on interstate rail system.

Earlier, the Chairman, Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency and traditional ruler of Umuoji, Igwe Cyril Enweze, said the project would include Nature and games reserve, Water Park, hotels, Museums, retail and dining facilities, amphi-theatre, cultural centre, lake and river sports, among other recreation activities.

Igwe Enweze explained that the project has great benefits for the state, including mass direct and indirect employment opportunities, as well as transfer of skills and technology.
