@yodanyrd , can you please do a "Dominican Republic in a week " tour guide for us. This is to help intending tourists. I will appreciate something like the London in 7 days below. Please I will appreciate clarification on places to go and places not to go (Talking of security concerns). Thank you Day 1: 9:00 — Tower of London (crown jewels first to beat the crowds, then Beefeater tour, then White Tower); 13:00 — Munch a sandwich on the Thames while cruising from Tower to Westminster Bridge; 15:00 — Tour Westminster Abbey (consider Evensong service at 17:00); 17:00 — Follow the self-guided Westminster Walk. When you’re finished, you could return to the Houses of Parliament and pop in to see the House of Commons in action. Day 2: 8:30 — Take a double-decker hop-on, hop-off London sightseeing bus tour (from Green Park or Victoria) and hop off for the Changing of the Guard; 11:00 — Buckingham Palace (guards change most days, but worth confirming); 12:00 — Walk through St. James’s Park to enjoy London’s delightful park scene; 13:00 — After lunch, tour Cabinet War Rooms and Churchill Museum; 16:00 — Tour National Gallery. Have a pub dinner before a play, concert, or evening walking tour (for ideas, see the Entertainment chapter). Day 3: 9:00 — Follow the self-guided City Walk from Trafalgar Square to London Bridge, inserting the full St. Paul’s Tour in the middle; 15:00 — Follow the self-guided Bankside Walk along the South Bank of the Thames, then walk the Jubilee Promenade from the Millennium Bridge to the London Eye. Cap the day with South Bank sights or experiences open in the evening: a ride on the London Eye, a Shakespearean play at Shakespeare’s Globe (19:30 in summer), or the Tate Modern (open Fri and Sat until 22:00). Day 4: 10:00 — Tour the British Museum; 14:00 — Take the self-guided West End Walk to see Covent Garden, Soho, and the Regent Street shops; 17:30 — Enjoy an afternoon tea (at Fortnum & Mason or at The Wolseley). Day 5: Spend the morning at an antique market. Spend the rest of your day at your choice of major sights. Depending on your interests, choose from the British Library, Tate Britain, Museum of London, Imperial War Museum, or Kew Gardens (cruise to Kew, return to London by Tube). Day 6: 10:00 — Cruise from Westminster to Greenwich; 11:00 — Tour salty sights of Greenwich; 14:30 — Ride the DLR train to Pudding Hill Lane to see the Olympics 2012 site; 16:00 — Ride the DLR to the Docklands for a look at London’s emerging “Manhattan”; 18:00 — Tube back to London. Day 7: 10:00 — Tour the Victoria & Albert Museum; after lunch (or a picnic in the park), stroll through Hyde Park. Spend the afternoon at Harrods or other shopping. |

zeongeon: Thanks brother.. i appreciate your understanding. All am doing is the way i think is right, i don't know much about this forum. Am trying my best. Sure am willing to answer any question. & thanks bro The dominant religion in DR is Christianity, mostly Catholicism & Protestant is very respected too. Medicine & Teaching always top the list in DR. Well most typical Dominican do for fun is party, go to clubs, listen to many Latin musics, drink, & many fun stuff in our rivers and beaches which get full of people specially in the summer. Hmm honestly no, it's not easy to marry black outside of DR, most Dominican are very Dominican-Centric ( if that could be a word), no matter how white or black or what ever you are,, most Dominicans don't see their children marry other people but Dominican. Most black outside of DR don't speak much Spanish unless they are black from other Spanish speaking country which they rarely travel. Unless you are supper rich and have money, then you have a better change, but i doubt it because in DR most very dark Dominican, are always poor and people don't see them as "rich" , it's not a racist thing, but a classim thing, like i said before. If you are White or look very white-mix, then most people assume you have money. Universida Autonoma de Santo Domingo is one of the best.. |

khia: Sorry bro, there is not such thing as "african" Dominican, neither "european" Dominican.. or "afro" Dominican or "euro" Dominican.. It's no existence in our culture, we Dominicans are just Dominicans no matter our skin colors or features. There is not difference between us, when i speak about mix, black, white Dominican, am using political correctness so it can be much easy for u to understand what am trying to explain but between Dominicans, there is not such thing, yes we have color skin description, but they are not attacked to identity or any sub-culture like in the United State, where you have the White(different culture/identity) and the Black(different culture/identity) Americans.. For us, we only have ONE culture, one identity, which is Dominican, we don't have different sub-identity. |

husseinjnr:i don't know if i can do that bro, lol that's too hard.. like i said, before RD1.com is the best website to travel to DR.. any information, u will have it there. however if you go to DR, i don't recommend you to go to Boca Chica, and neither go to certain places in the Capital right now, i don't have the specific places. Go to rd1.com and go to the forums, you will get alot of help there. |

KidStranglehold: I mean, the tread is good but it doesn't show how the majority of Dominican women look like and how diverse our women are.. but i do understand it was about the more afro looking Dominican women, i understand but the way you portray it, it was as if all women have those type of looks, always make sure to tell people that no all Dominican look one way but we are very diverse in our looks, colors, etc. no worries. |

yodanyrd: Not to come across as a know it all. You're Dominican and FROM Dominican Rep and know more than me about the people/culture. But I live in NYC, which imo is the state that has the most Dominicans behind Florida, and a good amount of Dominicans I see look like the ones I posted in the thread. One Dominican girl I dated resembled some of those pics. Just saying most Dominicans I see/hang with mostly resembles mulattoes/mestizos and sometimes light skinned African American. From my experience I hardly seen "white looking" Dominicans. Most here in the state from what I've seen appear to be those with significant African admixture. Again this is just my experience and does not equate with everyone's experience. |
Re: I Am Dominican From Dominica Republic... ASK Me Anything. by Nobody: 4:30pm On Mar 24, 2015 |
yodanyrd: This is different from my experience. Here in NY I've seen many Dominicans marry out. Though they were Americanized. I know many people that are a result of a Dominican marrying out. Mainly with other surrounding islanders like Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Haiti or American blacks. Or could it be Dominicans in America are vastly different from those still living in the Island? Similar to Puerto Ricans in the states being different from the ones living in the island. 1 Like |

khia: Where did you got this lie from? how come Dominican deny something we learn in our schools, high schools, university, college.. ? I hope you not getting this lies & fallacy from Black Americans who hate Dominican, Puerto Rican, Cuban with a passion because we do not identify with them.. According to National Geographic GEO 2.0 the average majority 65% Mixes Puerto Rican are 64% Spanish European, 25% Afro & 11% Native American. According to PLOS Genetics the average majority 55% Mix Cuban are 72% Spanish European, 20% Afro & 8% Native American. Yet only Dominicans get the most attack by Black American because they think Dominicans are the only people in Latin America that has some Afro mixture because we make border with Haiti. So no body question Cubans & PRican Afro ancestry, cuz they all think they are some kind of a new race.. Dominican get the heat the most because of our Haiti neighbor. 60% of Venezuela population have African ancestry from 90% to 20% or less percent Yet no body call out Venezuelan who population are majority Tri-racial. Colombia is the third country with more Black people in the Amaricas after the U.S. & Brazil yet no body call them out. According to University of Panama, the average majority Panamenian is 38% Afro, 35% Native America & 27% European Yet no body call them out. This fallacy about Dominicans came mostly from bias articles & specially the most bias & fallacy so called "documentary" call "black in L.A." where Dominican history, culture, tradition, ancestry was JUDGE & FILTER throw an AfroAmericanized experience, lent, point of views, history & social racism.. You cannot judge another culture throw your own cultural standard, that's just ridiculous. Black American identify by Race & Color while Dominicans, PRicans, Cubans, & the rest of Latin America identity ourselves by Nationality & Culture. This is where the "dominican deny afro" came from.. because they think Dominicans are the only one who has Afro ancestry in L.A. for the reason of making border with Haiti... Black Americans equal Black(color) with African(race) ancestry.. they say, if you have some "One Drop Rule" of Afro dna in you.. you are automatically "black" & Latinos in Latin America did not have the racist "one drop rule" & this is why this doesn't apply to us, and that's the reason the majority Dominicans who are Mixes say " we are not black, but mixes" because in Latin America once you are Mix, you are not longer black or white or native. When a Dominican or PRican or Cuban say " am not black but mix" what he is saying is that he is not black as negroid pure looking but that he is a mixture of 2 or 3 races. Black American think by Mixes Latinos saying "am not black" they think Latinos are denying African ancestry, this is where the error came from.. this is the confusion. Black American think that once you have some Afro ancestry, you are just Black & nothing else and if you don't say so, you are in denial & you are a self hater.. This is why Black American are the most fck up psychological mental people in the Americas. People need to respect Latin America identity where almost all people identify with their Nationality & Culture instead of Race or Color... 1 Like |
Re: I Am Dominican From Dominica Republic... ASK Me Anything. by yodanyrd: 12:43am On Mar 25, 2015 |
KidStranglehold: Yeah of course, some Dominicans look like the one you posted in the pic, i was just speaking of diversity. Yeah most Dominican resemble a mixture of 3 races, just like Ricans & Cubans. Now many white looking Dominicans are always confused as white looking Ricans or Cuban, am sure you have seem light white Dominican & you think they are white looking Cuban nor some other Latinos.. so, many people assume they are something else before assuming they are Dominicans.. Now, about the Pure White Dominicans, yes, it's hard to see them in the U.S. because they majority rarely immigrate and many are upper class people in the D.R. so they don't need to immigrate and people rarely see them as common. |
Re: I Am Dominican From Dominica Republic... ASK Me Anything. by yodanyrd: 12:47am On Mar 25, 2015 |
KidStranglehold:Now, you are talking about two different experience people.. Yes in NY there are Dominican who marry out but these are mostly very Americanized one, most are already second or third Dominican-American generation and already lost their cultural tie to DR. Many marry out to Puerto Rican, which is common & Puerto Rican resemble more to Dominicans, so there isn't much difference between us. Now, you rarely see marrying Haitian or Jamaicans, that's a rare thing, maybe more A.A. but then it's no something very common. Now, i got asked about the Doms in the Island, which of course, they have another cultural experience.. so they don't marry out to stranger people from other culture. |
Re: I Am Dominican From Dominica Republic... ASK Me Anything. by khia: 10:32am On Mar 25, 2015 |
yodanyrd: Black Americans this Black Americans that, you don't know what the hell black americans think, and you just showed how messed up you are psychologically with your long boring rants about black Americans who could careless about you people. I am black American and where do you get off saying who we hate and what makes you think we care about who you identify with, we sure don't need/want you. Now back to my post show pictures of dark dominican men, they are much more attractive. |

yodanyrd:Of course. And my thread does not deny this. Its mainly focusing on Afro and Mulatto beauty. The Mulatto who nI feel are the majority of the population, which correlates with the genetic data. Even the ones posted by you... yodanyrd:If you mean "white" as looking as this in phenotype? Nope... Not here in the states. BUT I have seen Cubans and Puerto Ricans especially resemble that kind of "white" phenotype. Also I have Puerto Ricans in my family through marriage mind you. That's how I know and am aware of islander Hispanic culture/people. Also Puerto Ricans on average have more European admixture/ancestry than both Dominicans and Cubans. Cubans being "second". Again this just my experience... yodanyrd: The bolded is most likely the case. And what do you mean as in "pure" if I may ask. |
Re: I Am Dominican From Dominica Republic... ASK Me Anything. by Nobody: 2:39pm On Mar 25, 2015 |
yodanyrd:I know which is why I made it a point to say Dominicans in the island are different from the ones in the states. Same with Puerto Ricans. Different culture. And from my experience I have seen Dominicans marry Jamaicans or Haitians especially in the states. Haitians due to them and Dominicans sharing the same island. This is why I never took this Dominicans always hating Haitians seriously in real life, but only on the internet where its blown out of proportion(me being part Haitian). My father who is Haitian was about to marry a Dominican women. And the family were chill. |
Re: I Am Dominican From Dominica Republic... ASK Me Anything. by Nobody: 2:50pm On Mar 25, 2015 |
yodanyrd: Not trying to get into it with you and Khia. I think both parties should be civil as this is a good discussion. I just want to point out that 1. Different genetic studies have varying conclusions on admixture. I read different studies that differed on the Cuban admixture with one you posted. Heck admixture in AA's vary a lot from different studies. So you have to be careful with that. Second the reason Dominicans get attached with "denying their African ancestry" is not because they're neighbors with Haiti. Because they OBVIOUSLY have the most African ancestry/admixture out of any Hispanic group and your culture has very strong African roots out of any Hispanic group besides Cuban culture. This to me is a fact. Now I dont care what Dominicans identify as, because its not up to me and "black" is more of a western coined term. Third I don't think African Americans are the most "the most fck up psychological mental people in the Americas", the Dominicans we usually talk about denying their "blackness" are the Black Dominicans who look like this. And there are plenty of them in uptown Manhattan. Now I never heard or seen Dominicans denying their blackness in real life, but only on the internet. 2 Likes 1 Share |

khia: I been dealing with many black american like ur type, this is why i came to an African forum to try to re-educate Africans about Dominicans.. This lie about Dominicans have been spreading for the last couple of years by many black american for no reason other that u guys don't understand the Latin Dominican culture.. |
Re: I Am Dominican From Dominica Republic... ASK Me Anything. by yodanyrd: 5:56am On Mar 26, 2015 |
khia: Zoe Saldana is HALF Puerto Rican, many black american think Zoe Saldana represent all Dominican women.. she does not represent the diversity of Dominicans.. you can check the first links i posted where you can find many black or dark skin Dominicans in the links.. you can obviously see them there. The African blood did not disappeared, i posted the fact of Dominicans ancestry.. i posted pic of Dominicans but for some reason the forum deleted them all, maybe because it was too many. |
Re: I Am Dominican From Dominica Republic... ASK Me Anything. by yodanyrd: 6:00am On Mar 26, 2015 |
KidStranglehold: I have seem many Dominicans who do resemble that kind of phenotype in the US.. like i said most White Dominicans rarely immigrate.. Actually Cubans have more European ancestry than Puerto Rican on average. According to PLOS Genetic the average Cuban is 72% European, 20% African, 8% Native. while According to National Geographic GEO 2.0 the average PRican is 64% European, 25% African, 11% Native. Cuba was basically the last Spanish colony in the new world and this is why they receive more European in the last century of Spain colonization. Mostly White Dominicans. http://portal.bufeo.com/galleries/galleries/2405/ http://portal.bufeo.com/galleries/galleries/1443/ (Dominicans white & off-white kids) http://portal.bufeo.com/galleries/galleries/505/ ALSO, you have to REMEMBER, White Dominicans DO NOT look like your typical White Anglo American of Northern European descent(English, Irish, German) but is of Iberian Southern European Spaniard descent..

Re: I Am Dominican From Dominica Republic... ASK Me Anything. by yodanyrd: 6:17am On Mar 26, 2015 |
KidStranglehold: Yeah bro, i just wanted to put her in her place before she start making lies up. Yes i know different studies say different admixture, that's why posted many of them. Dominican get this attack it's because we make border with Haiti and most people think Dominicans look like our baseball players which why people quick buy the lies about us being "black hating/denying ourselves" Bro, did you know that the average Panamenian according to the University of Paname are 38% African, 36% Native, 27% European ? In other words Panamenians are the group with more African ancestry of all Latinos. Did you know Colombia hold the THIRD biggest Black people in Latin America ? Did you know that Cuba has more PURE Black than the Dominica Rep.? Did you know Brazilian have the more Black & Mix Afro descendants in Latin America ? Brother, you need to understand, Dominicans, Cubans, PRican do not identify ourselves by Race or Colors.. this is mostly a very Americanized Attached thing.. yes we know we have different skin tones and we could use "negro" to describe it but it's NOT attached to our identity.. We identify ourselves with our Nationality & Culture.. and i know you know this.. bcs you been exposed to us and you see how a PRican no matter his color, race, phenotype, featues, will tell you in a heart beat that he is PRican.. same with Dominicans no matter our color, races, mixture, features. |
