Nigeria is still a developing economy. More and more Nigerians need to understand how not only to manage their meager resources, but also understand the running of our economy.

So, economics should occupy the no 1 position. When the economy is poorly run with skyrocketing inflation and high poverty rate, all other disciplines feel the impacts. Simple.

I will still disagree further sir.... My uncle is a lawyer and he is young and good.... He had to leave Nigeria for canada to practice. When he was in nigeria and was under barrister olanipekun (I think), they were up to 30 young barristers like him under this great SAN. If law is selling like dat, why can't every lawyer hv his own chamber?

Medicine
yeah yeah... the number one as you were expecting is medicine. Somehow if you're a science student and you want to go into the medical line of work, the first thing your parent will probably scream in your head is medicine. It's not like there are no other dope courses, but almost every parent wants a medical doctor
in the family... The amount of doctors one day will still exceed the patients..

#2
Pharmacy
The one which i feel is next is pharmacy. You couldn't make medicine right, go for the next thing to it "Pharmacy". To be honest i don't like the course because of my normal hatred for drugs. I still avoid the faculty in Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU). The whole place smells like a hospital. So Pharmacy!! as NO 2

#3
Law
Yes! The prestigious and proud law students of Nigeria. Once you're in the art class, the first thing you fill in as your desired course of study is Law!!! True or false?. I mean i don't really blame them, Nigeria doesn't really appreciate most of these art courses. So Law as NO 3.

#4
Electrical Electronics
Meet the king of the technology faculty. Elect is actually a very cool course to study, especially when you're in a school like OAU. I fancy the course myself but hey don't get me wrong, I'm a computer with Economics Student. I'm a double honour student, i have every reason to be proud *lol*. I just like elect cause you can really diversify. In elect i've met bad ass programmers, even better than some in my department. No 4 goes to Elect then

#5
Architecture
I for one am a great fan of this course, Ignoring the crazy stress that comes with studying it in OAU, this department is DOPE. Once you're good you're GOOD! and they're probably the students with one of the highest chances of getting a job in this country.. and apart from that you gotta go to their parties, there's no other phrase i could use.. Just Dope

so there you have it the 5 top courses in Nigeria, If you feel other wise you can drop your opinions in the comment section.

@kennygee i do not think only lawyers are jobless in Nigeria. It is just that because you see 'them' infront of Cac it brings attention but the truth is most of the people you see there are not even lawyers.remember not only lawyers can register at Cac.Also we have so many unemployed that we do not know cos they sit in the comfort of their homes. And I also want to point out that Law is very wide and lawyers are meant to specialise thereby they are free to work in almost every establishment as long as there is legal department there. Coporate law is one of the numerous branches of law.You can be a lawyer and not appear in court all your life.it is in Nigeria that its widely assumed that once you are a lawyer you must work in a law firm and go for court cases.No. Law is not like that.A lawyer can even work in an oil company,a telecommunications company, hospital, banks,Tax office(Lirs,Firs)etc.

My dear, I do not wish to respond to this as I might give you solid facts that you might deem being rude or insulting your uncle.

Let me just narrow to this, see, law is not easy at all, I swear. You need to be always reading, hardworking and prayerful.we have mafia in law and. That's y u see some certain top lawyers always having juicy cases.

I assure you there are cases more than enough. You need networking. You have to package your self very well. Law is more challenging than medicine.

Any lawyer can have his chamber is very easy but not every lawyer is ready to take that challenge As they are full of doubts and fears

Ask you uncle this san of. A thing is politicised now. Some sans don't deserve that feather. They are not that good of course we have some fantastic sans that are bloody good

Your uncle gave up too easily

He didn't give up sir..... He had to leave or else he will die in penury... Canada is better suited for lawyers. That said the SAN I was talking about is never a small lawyer or probably he got his through politics. He handles some of ondo state govt cases with barrister ebiseni... He has been a SAN for many years. Before I graduated 2008, my uncle n a friend of his both represented me in court (not a criminal case) and we won... Its not like he was not good or not that he does not have the money to start his chambers but Nigeria is not suited for lawyers... How many juicey cases do we have today? Before you think of getting a "big man's" case as a young lawyer, you will sweat. Even when you are over packaged sef, u will notice they have a family lawyer they hv been using since 1900 or they have a child who is a lawyer who now handle family cases...

Funny how no computing or IT related course is listed cos they're in high demand and get so much respect in every organisation world wide. They're usually indispensable.

Law?

With the unemployed barristers clogging CAC offices looking for ways to make ends meet?

As prestigious as Law is, There are too many Lawyers being dolled out every year these days making the Labour market highly competitive.

Some lawyers attached to chambers earn between 30-80k per month.

Go to the banks, many of them are becoming Corporate Lawyers.

Some are paid below 30k as a matter of fact.
