mom2015: And you know there are many silent readers, so we don't even know the impact of the recycled hospitals on the VOs, they may be seeing it more often than we even think it is being used. But the problem is these Yankee hospitals don't give appointments, they prefer to have you come in in person, so it is harder getting documents for visa application from other hospitals / Docs than the ones often advised on this forums. 1 Like |

justwise: Yes I know, but my history stated otherwise, he checked my statement of account to see what goes in and comes out and trust me, it's a whole lot. Also my job and that of my husband also showed that we can afford the bills. So it dosent necessarily have to be an account balance of 3.5m when ur annual salary dosent correspond with the balance. They actually look beyond dat as well.i saw him check at least 3months prior to my balance and he kept nodding his head. That's my own opinion...everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. I'm only sharing cos I know it might be useful to someone else on dis forum. 7 Likes |

This is another angle to the matter. All they ask for is Dr's correspondence, meaning are you in touch with a doctor to take your case? I think the VOs handle these things on a case by case basis. They should understand it is not easy getting correspondence from hosp. Some will even tell you they don't send emails, like MIHS until God blessed them with Francisca! I head to chicago. Getting hosp correspondence takes forever for them to reply. Only for them to send you one crazy bill and say professional fees not included. Which is not bad by the way for visa processing. If you get a hosp that bills $20,000. Just add the correspondence to your burden of proof, have N7m in your account and you are ready! When you get your visa, you know where to head to 3 Likes |

femoric9: Thank You all, I just got my Sis from d airport, here is exactly what happened at d POE; Firstly, 3 months ago, she wrote the US embassy immigration via email that she wanted to use go and give birth in the USA and she has a visitor B2 visa, but she only got the automatic reply saying they are not available to respond now. Now the B2 visa she had expires Jan2016 since she got it got it Jan.2014. Now, at the POE yesterday, she told the POE her birthing intention and that it is 25weeks, that she is here for holiday and to have her baby. Then she was asked d day on her return ticket and she told them june25. Then they asked her about her husband if he will be coming and she said yes but that will be during his leave because he is busy now. She was truthful because she got the visa with her husband and the kids. She was asked about how much she has, but she told them that she has $8000 on her master card and thet ask her about the hospital bill and she also told them that it was $6000. And the man keep going inside and coming out. Then he came out and said when her husband was applying for d visa, he only planned 2weeks. She explained that th3y were planning to come for 2weeks then but d hubby was not released at work and now that she is pregnant she decided to use d opportunity to give birth in d usa. He kept discussing with his colleagues for several minutes and then ask again about her job and the husband job ( d hubby is a banker and she is a computer scientist). He also asked about the address where she will stay and she gave our Sis address in Lexington, he asked d relationship & she said she is her sister, she also ask about her job and she said she is an health worker. Then after lots of discussion with his colleague he came out given her d dreaded 2weeks clearance, and he even told her that can she see what he wrote with pen '2 weeks No Extension/ No Readjustment' and one woman looked at her face and we are sorry u have to return April22,that is d best we can do. She said d man has always bin consulting that particular woman with d woman always telling d man No No No. SO WHAT CAN WE DO PLS ? SHE IS HERE WITH ME AND DEPRESSED. |

femoric9: She has to go home before the two weeks are over. Otherwise she faces very long ban. Prehaps she can re-apply again from home. |

worry359: Thanks @worry359....I have my visa...I am just trying to decide between Texas(where I dont know anyone) and Chicago and LA (Where I have a support system) I want to make an informed decision by comparing what other people have discovered to my research...I have being in contact with Dr Akere in Chicago...still waiting to hear from him on quotation. |
This is the 1st time she is using the visa since she got it? I think this their gra gra started because of this Chinese birth tourism issue! Since you say she is 25 weeks, she doesn't have a problem. She should return to Nigeria after 2 weeks as stated in the visa application. She got her visa for holiday, not for birthing, and she has not taken the holiday. She should leave US after 2 weeks and return for birthing, if she is really 25 weeks. My two cents 4 Likes |

debbyomi: My sister, Chicago is not smiling. St. Joseph is $4500 package fee (minus doc and professional fees) payable before delivery. That is the best I have seen so far, minus Dr Akere. If I were you, I will wear bathroom slippers enter chicago and knock from hosp to hosp. Email correspondence doesn't even help. They just send you bills in tens of thousands |

@femoric9 If she is 25 weeks and was planning on having her baby in the US, how then would it have been possible for her return date to be 25 June? Also, apart from the 8k she said she had in her MasterCard, did she have any cash on her? I think they gave her 2 weeks because they didn't believe her story and if indeed they got their visas as a family in Jan 2004, it is curious that they all never travelled for the vacation they had claimed to be planning on going for and then more than a year later she is using the visa for birthing purposes. Her best bet is to travel back home after the two weeks, and then once there get in touch with the Embassy and declare her intentions of using the same visa to go have her baby. While doing so, she should have all her documents ready just incase she is called in for interview, and should be able to prove that she can pay her bills. 3 Likes |

worry359: Why bother travel all the way back to 9ja. My advice,as has been mentioned here is since she has a multiple entry visa, let her travel to one of those countries like babados, mexico etc where she wont need a visa and just lounge for like a week or 2,then re-enter the us,advicably through a diffrent poe |

Same thing happened to my boss when she wanted to birth her 1st child in d US. She was stamped in for 2weeks without option to extend. Luckily she had Canadian visa so she travelled to canada from d US by road at d expiration of d two weeks and travelled back to d US by road from canada. She was stamped in for 6months and had her baby afterwhich she came back home. B4 d NL crash, someone here had almost same issue(cant really remember her story well) She travelled back to naija and went back to d US almost immediately usin d same POE and as God wud av it met d same cbp officer but she was stamped in for 6months If she can travel back to naija, fine then go back tru another POE. If not like someone rightly suggested, travel to a nearby country that allows entry if one has US visa and then re-enter d US tru another POE. femoric9: 3 Likes |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by lalavita: 9:09pm On Mar 27, 2015 |
There is no need for your sister to be depressed since she is only 25 weeks pregnant so still has lots of time. Based on what you said, the POE officers were not happy that she did not use her visa for the reason it was issued (vacation...). She really has 3 options 1. Overstay her allowed stay in the States and face a likely ban. At the end of the day, her child gets what she wants but her own travel record is messed up (Not a good option obviously) 2. Apply for an 1-94 extension. The problem with this is that the CBP POE officers already noted NO EXTENSION and because of the limited time they gave her (2 weeks), by the time she gets a response as per the extension, she will already have overstayed. Even though "technically", when you apply for an extension, from the date your extension is filed to the day they reply, you are "technically" still legally in the states but I will not advice anyone to take this risk because if they refuse, she is back to square 1 plus and will need to leave. 3. Leave the USA and return I will never advice anyone to manipulate the system. In this case, I do not believe she is doing anything wrong. She should leave the USA as soon as possible and come back. When she comes back, she should be 100% honest and carry all documentation. She should be prepared to answer questions confidently relating to what happened last time etc... Most POE officers will let her in...unless there is more to the story you are not telling us Please note that the USA has a rule that many people do not know about - she should not go to Canada or Mexico as it will not reset her stay. This change was made a few years ago to stop people from manipulating the system. See the link here - https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/751/kw/i-94%20mexico%20canada/suggested/1 She can go back to Nigeria or other countries. Though going back to Nigeria seems long, it presents the most legitimacy that she is not trying to manipulate the system. Other simpler and closer options are Caribbean countries. All the best! femoric9: 8 Likes |

debbyomi: have u checked Schaumburg? Got a hospital charging $2800 for normal delivery & $4700 for cs while epidural is $600. These prices does not include pediatrician, lab /ultrasound fees. As for doctor, $2500 is the charge. there r other hospitals though with different prices but this seems to be the cheap lik Dr. Akere. 1 Like 1 Share |

My POE experience I flew BA to newyork.. BA service was just there. Flight was very full all the way. Was able to get an upgrade over the counter for the London to newyork leg of the journey. There was no preggo on the flight, and by the time we got to N.Y. had very few Nigerians. Met a very stern looking young CBP CBP: what brings you here me: to have my baby and a short vacation CBP : (Types on the computer for a few mins) how long do you intend to stay me: 12weeks CBP: did you say 12months? (Turning to look at me) Me: No, I said 12wks CBP: oh ok. So how much do you have? Do you have proof that you can pay your bills? Me: $4k... actually that's the much you can get from the Nigerian banks, but I have a funded Nigerian account statement and a debit card. Can I show you? (I actually printed a new account statement the day before my travel) CBP: oh please do Mehands him the account statement and envelop of crispy cash, lol ) CBP: (peeps into the cash envelop, then flips briefly through the account statement). So where exactly do you want to have your baby? Me: Actually my final destination will be Texas, il be using Dr FF of Oakbend medical centre CBP: can I see your return ticket Me: (hands it over to him) CBP: (checks my return date)by the way what do you do back home? Me: am a ******** CBP: can I have your fingerprints ma'am. btw, congratulations on your pregnancy, I hope everything goes well for you! Me: Thank you very much CBP: No problem ma'am (Stamps me in for 6months). No secondary inspection Head to agric cos I declared some foodstuffs At Agric, met a smiley faced middle aged Indian Agric: where are you coming from? Me: Nigeria Agric: laughs (here comes another Nigerian to his colleagues) so do you have yam Me: No Agric: garden egg, dried fish.... bla bla Me: (laughing)Noooo... No contraband, just dried local vegetables and spices for pregnant women Agric: oh great... You can go Didn't even bother opening or searching my box. Dragged my bag waka pass. NB : like someone mentioned earlier, in my own assessment, I think the issue of cash is over-rated (doesnt mean you shouldnt go with sufficient cash ooo)cos I just had an amount a little above my budget. They just want you to keep it simple and truthful. * Be bold and composed, don't 've fidgety, unless you have something up your sleeves or your intentions are not genuine... those guys are psychologists! 6 Likes |
