Norway is an expensive country so will advice you to contact your university regarding accommodation and you should also know that finding an apartment in Oslo is difficult monica90: |

chunaph: Ok Chunaph, i requested to send you a mail because i wanted to send u a copy of my transcript just so u could understand my question better. i studied Applied Physics (Geophysics option) with a CGPA of 3.94/5. i am Considering an M.Sc in geophysics or petroleum geoscience at NTHU, UIO or UIS, but am worried cos of my transcript showing i did more physics related courses than geophysics. do you think this could be a problem? |

@ lnxyz @chunaph please while filling my visa application online, is it a must I must put my departure date as august? Do people leave before august and wait for the program to start while in Norway? |
Re: Nigerians In Oslo, Norway by Nobody: 12:14pm On Apr 01, 2015 |
stewiepeter: You must put your departure date as August. Your Visa will be for 3 months ...depending on when it will be approved by UDI(mine started 21st July till 1st Oct 2014). You will be given your study permit when you get here.... NTNU does the arrangement for its students though..... As per leaving before your program starts,,,, it depends on you, but you can travel anytime you want as far as you have your VISA..... NTNU has an orientation week for all International students... its usually a week of bonding and fun-fairs with other students from different countries....Lectures start around 18th of August or so here.......I hope I answered your questions 5 Likes |

malaoluolateju: I don't think it is a problem at all..... although the admission for Geosciences here is competitive, you still have a great chance with your CGPA.... you should look at the admission criteria for Geosciences for each of the Schools.... look at these links... http://www.ntnu.edu/studies/msg1/admission http://www.uis.no/studies/master-s-programmes-in-english/petroleum-engineering/application-and-admission/ http://www.uio.no/english/studies/programmes/geosciences-master/programme-options/pegg/admission/ |

Hi all, I am new to this thread but I believe I will be able to get some vital information from you all. I will be attending a fully paid course in Norway in June and am in the process of applying for a visa. I however have a few concerns 1. The authority inviting me is arranging basic insurance for me form over there (a group insurance). DO I STILL NEED TO GET INSURANCE FROM HERE? 2. My return ticket will also be paid for. MUST I PUT A PAID TICKET OR CAN I USE A DUMMY PENDING VISA ISSUANCE? I look forward to hearing from y'all. |

Re: Nigerians In Oslo, Norway by stewiepeter: 8:27pm On Apr 03, 2015 |
@ Mala any of the places u mentioned is okay. What I did is I combined the three places and got all their stamps on my document. It's expensive but you will be rest assured that you have covered that hole. |

Re: Nigerians In Oslo, Norway by Nobody: 9:08pm On Apr 05, 2015 |
stewiepeter: Extra document is not necessary.... the procedure is simple and straightforward..... wouldn't take up to 20 mins.... they will ask for the documents listed at the website, the verification fee, the fedex/dhl thing (if it is needed)... Remember to go with the originals of everything,,,, they will ask for the originals....... Make sure the copies of your documents re readable and clear..... |

Re: Nigerians In Oslo, Norway by stewiepeter: 6:13am On Apr 06, 2015 |
@ adim thanks very much and be rest assured your admission is on it's way. Well if it's Uni. Of stavanger, the procedure for accommodation is straight forward. When u get admitted they send u a link, in which u answer simple question like if u want a hostel with car parking or have any disabilities. Then u input your identification no too. That's all, with time they will send u more info but that's about all I did for now based on accommodation. After your done with that they will send I you mail in which u will use to apply for visa. 1 Like |
