PL-9C has manuever turns like any other missile. A guided missile locked-on target will turn back to chase you if you turn backwards.

The F-7 radar is a newer generation than the Gripen radar. F-7 radar has a year ~2005 radar, the Gripen has an older year 1997 radar.

The F-7 of NAF actually has a technically more advanced radar than the Gripen of SAAF
.
The PL-9C is a 3rd generation missile characterised by less manoeuvrability and a small angle of view(40 degrees boresight compared to 120 degrees of the A-Darter).

It doesn't have manoeuvrability like modern body lift missiles like the ASRAAM, A-Darter and IRIS-T boasting agility up to 50g upwards. Modern IR SRAAM missiles use TVC(trust vector controls) instead of fins like your dinosaur aged missile.

Which allow them to make extreme turns to attack targets behind the launch aircraft, your old PL-9C can only make head on attacks.

Coupled with your terrible - 40km radar coverage, there's nothing you can against 4th Gen armed with 5the Gen missiles intercepting you out outside your radar angular coverage.

The Grifo-7 can't be compared to the PS-05/A radar which has been modified for SAAF's needs.

That is why I said, South African army should deploy 30,000 troops into one single battle theatre like Nigerian army and let us see how well kitted their soldiers will be.

It's easy to put 1,000 troops into UN Peace mission and dress them like American soldiers, but deploy 30,000 troops and see the cost of kits
.
All of them will be kitted for their role.

Your army is a rebel force with a M23 equivalent doctrine.

First thing first, the South-African Soldier is not better kitted than a Nigerian Soldier.

If I can get access like some of our lousy reporters get, with a Nikon 3000D Camera, i'll make as much Hollywood style photos as the Americans.

The South-African government cannot deploy 30,000 properly kitted soldiers in combat. 400- 1000 troops on a U.N mission is nothing. When kits begin to wear out faster than they can be replaced then, you realise, actual combat isn't hollywood.

Nigerian troops

Photos 1& 2 : Regular kit
Photos 3& 4 : Standard kit
All SA soldiers are issued with the same kit.

South African soldiers are better kitted than Nigerian soldiers who can't carry 20kg of equipment for 4km grin grin grin

NAF F-7 jet radar is year ~2005 Grifo radar and is more modern than your SAAF Gripen jet's ~year 1995 radar 20 years obsolescent.

The Nigerian F-7NI is a surprise package for any challenger in Africa, very modern Italian radar, very high speed modern ~BVR missile.

SAAF has 20 km range short-legged missiles, and CANNOT attack from outside angle of a superior Grifo radar on NAF jets, your Gripens carry an obsolescent 20 year old radar, nobody modernized anything on that old school weak radar, all it has is long range, else it's near obsolete.

Missiles don't go dancing around with 100g turns in a close range death zone combat, pilot's death is in few seconds. No SAAF missile can handle PL-9C that speeds at over 4,000 km/h just too fast, it will beat any A-Darter g turn, before the A-Darter turns any spin to play,
the PL-9C has hit the Gripen jets with a sting of death.

PL-9C missile has probability hit on target of 90%.

SAAF is dead and gone to the grave when it faces NAF !

South Africa still has the tag of European extension globally. That's the perception and no amount of banter can change that . South Africa isn't even a TRUE leader in southern Africa. The Angolans have got a better legitimacy and heritage than you.

You can scream now.

That's your own illusional believe that if you are black then Africa belongs to you. What about Arabs, Ethiopians, Somalis and others? Do we say that they are not too black to be Africans? Man you are still stuck to an old believe of Rastafarian religion of believing that the world is only reserved for black man. Grow up and accept the fact that SA is the only multi racial country in Africa that brings all cultures, traditions and religions in one, a rainbow nations that brings Africans, Coloureds, Asians, Arabs, and Whites in one combo. Man you need to grow up.

1. The PS-05/A in entered service in 2005 and is highly superior the Grifo-7 rub.bish. And yes SAAF's PS-05/A were modified.

A. You show again you don't know what you're talking about.

2. Your F-7 will be intercepted outside of their radar angular coverage.

A. You can't comprehend that.

3. Your PL-9C can't only handle head on attacks with 40 degrees view angle, It is obsolete 3rd generation tras.h

Yes, there are old missiles with greater speeds but are obsolete.

Your Grifo radar is osbolete mechanically scanned antenna - Gripen uses the more advanced PS-05/A which uses AESA and has intergrated MIDAS capabilities.

This argument is pointless anyway as the Grifo-7 is also from the mid-1980's
http://robertang./2007/02/fiar-grifo-radar.html

So no your F-7 is not a suprise for anyone, weaker radar with less capabilities and no BVR missile.

How is the Grifo superior? With a short range it has an equially short radar cone - Gripen with massive 120km radar range can see you loong before you see it.

How is your Grifo radar superior? Lets talk capabilities - come on I dare you.

Yes, missiles do go dancing around with 100g turns in close range. Its what they are designed for. Speed has nothing to do with it if the A-darter is coming dead on, how will it beat the A-darter in a G-turn when its max turn is 40G and the A-darter is capable of 100G turns?

Augustus - absolutely nothing you said has any validity at all.

Your above source is a private blog, a mere peoples opinion blog grin grin

However, it still says Grifo company began business with radar technology research in the 1980s, but never built a radar until 1991.

The first Grifo radar came to market in 1991, and they have developed many new radars after that. Even Grifo 7 has 3 different versions up till year 2005.

Your argument is demolished in one minute.

F-7 radar is more modern that the 20 year old radar inside Gripen grin grin
