Is Jesus Christ And God The Same Person? by sobmos(m): 1:45pm On Apr 06, 2015 |
There was a huge argument in my area today, and different thought and opinion was shared. But,the bible makes it even more contracting/contradictory. We couldn't get a concise agreement. John Chp 1- Verse 13,explained that "in the beginning was the word and the word was with God,and the Word was God,the word became flesh and dwells among us". This statement clearly points to the fact that jesus and God are one and the same person. But,the same John,in John 3:16 say that a word was spoken by God in a Loud Voice that "this is my only begotten son, whoever believes in him will not die,but have evalasting life". This statement points to the fact that jesus is the son of God. And throughout Jesus christ's life on earth,he keeps mentioning his father in heaven(God). The same jesus said, whatever he binds on here on earth will be bind in heaven, this also confuses me,if he is God. What if he binds something here on earth and God says No in heaven? I need the help of christian scholars who are vast in the knowledge of bible to explain this to me and other people who this topic/subject matter confuses. Thanks in anticipation. |

sobmos: Jesus is God, but He is not the same person with the Father. Matthew 26v39 -And He went a little farther, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. Jesus was not praying to Himself here. The person praying was different from the person being prayed to. Also; Matthew 27v46 -And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, .... My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Jesus didn't forsake Himself on the cross. The person forsaking is different from the person forsaken. Also; Acts 7v55 -But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, Jesus was not standing beside Himself. Jesus wasn't standing at His own right hand. Jesus is God and the Father is God. They are not the same person and the Father is the God of Jesus. Shalom 3 Likes |

ayoku777:So,how do you explain John Chapter 1? |
Re: Is Jesus Christ And God The Same Person? by ayoku777(m): 8:06pm On Apr 06, 2015 |
sobmos: What isn't clear in John chapter 1? In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God; and the Word was God. Isn't it self explanatory? That the Word was God, but He was also WITH God. Meaning the Word is God; but He was also with another God. That is; God the Word (or the Son) was with God the Father. 1 Like |

Jesus Christ and God are not the same person. Here's what the Bible says: The Bible identifies who the Almighty God is. For example, Psalm 83:18 states: "That men may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth." (King James Version, italics mine) Indeed, while God has many titles such as "Creator" and "Almighty," he also has a personal name. God himself said: "I am Jehovah. That is my name."—Isaiah 42:8. Who, then, is Jesus? It should be noted that Jesus never claimed to be God in the Bible. Indeed, Jesus specifically called himself, not God, but God's Son. (John 10:36) Jesus also never claimed to be equal to God. In fact, Jesus taught this: "The Father is greater than I am." (John 14:28) Thus, according to Jesus himself, his heavenly Father, Jehovah, is superior to him. Anyways, Sobmos (or anyone reading this post), if you're interested in learning more on what the Bible really teaches, I recommend visiting jw.org (Go to BIBLE TEACHINGS > BIBLE QUESTIONS ANSWERED). 1 Like |

@Op, there is no ambiguity on this very topic..the bible is very explicit on who Yahweh is and who Yahshua is as well. 1 Cor.15:27-28 "27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all." John 1:1 is very clear as well. "In the beginning was the word(Yahshua) and the word(Yahshua) was with God(Yahweh) and the word(Yahshua) was God. Emphasis on the word "with" 2 Likes |

ayoku777:did you read the whole of chapter 1,where it said the word become flesh and dwells among us (Jesus),and through him all things are made? |
Re: Is Jesus Christ And God The Same Person? by ayoku777(m): 10:35am On Apr 07, 2015 |
sobmos: Yes sir, I've read the whole chapter before. That the Word was made flesh and all things were made through Him doesn't make the Word same person with the Father. The Father made everything by Jesus (the Word) Hebrews 1v2 - (God) Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son (Jesus), whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds; You see; the Father made the world by the Son. That doesn't make the Son the same person as the Father. What part are you having difficulty with? Is it that since Jesus created all things, He must be the Father or equal to Him? 1 Like |

sobmos: Since this is the part you have problem with, then let's look at it this way from the creation of MAN The first couple lived alone in the garden. The two are to be viewed as one. a. Genesis 2:24 - In the garden, two persons, the man and the woman, “became one flesh.” b. Genesis 5:1,2 : • “God created man” (singular) • “He made him” (singular) • “named them Man” (singular) Yet it also says: • “He created them male and female” (plural) • “He blessed them” (plural) • “and named them” (plural) • “they were created” (plural) NOTE: that the first couple was collectively named “Man.” This was their original name for the woman was not given her individual name “Eve” until after her sin (in Genesis 3:20; see Genesis 2:23). The reference to “man” was interchangeable with “them” and included both the male and the female. c. Genesis 1:26,27 - • “Let Us make man” (=“adam”, singular)” • “God created man” (singular) • “He created him” (singular) In contrast the same text also says: • “. . . let them rule” (plural) • “male and female he created them” (plural) Again, the reference to “man” was interchangeable with “them” and included both the male and the female. “Man” meant “mankind.” d. Mark 10:6-8 - Jesus refers to the first couple and after stating they were one flesh adds “they are no longer two.” e. Romans 5:12-19 - In saying that sin entered humanity through “one man” it potentially suggests that the “one man” could also include the first woman. These verses imply that in the creation account singular references to “man” include the two persons in the garden. This is unusual with the more common meaning of the term “man” referring to the primary person in the couple, the male (Genesis 2:21). Likewise, although the term “God” can on occasion mean “Us” and “Our” (“Let Us make . . . Our image . . . Our likeness . . .” - Genesis 1:26) likely the more common meaning is the “Father,” the primary person in the ‘Godkind.’ How do you understand this statement? “In the garden was the woman, the woman was with the man and the woman was man.” Would it be correct to say “the woman was a man” or “the woman was the man?” No |

Maamin: Yet you couldn't tell us who Yahshua is according to the OP 1 Cor.15:27-28 "27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. How does this solve the problem the OP raised? John 1:1 is very clear as well. As you emphasized on the word WITH do you also emphasis on what the verse says the word (Yahshua) is? "...and the word (Yahshua) was God" Remember there's no god either in heaven or on earth beside Yahweh. |

Jesus Christ is God. He is also the Almighty God because he is the Son of God the Almighty. The point an making here is that the word"God" is a title and Jesus qualifies to be called God , as written in -John 1:1. Jesus himself did not create any contradiction or uncertainty about who he is . He made it clear to us in almost every chapter of of the books of Matthew ,Mark ,Luke John that he has a Father in heaven When he prayed that Lazarus should live, he prayed to his Father in heaven. He also made mention that he is God by telling us that he and his Father are one. This is reference for you to know that Jesus Christ is God but different from God the Father: Revelation 1:7-14, 17-18 KJV Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. [8] I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. [9] I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. [10] I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, [11] Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. [12] And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; [13] And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. [14] His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; [17] And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: [18] I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Clearly ,the above scripture should make you to understand that JESUS CHRIST is not a human being like me and you. He was the "word of God" that came to saves us. The below Bible scriptures also identify who God the Father is : Revelation 3:5-22 KJV He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. [6] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. [7] And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; [8] I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. [9] Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. [10] Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. [11] Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. [12] Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. [13] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. [14] And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; [15] I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. [16] So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. [17] Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: [18] I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy unclothedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. [19] As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. [20] Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. [21] To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. [22] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches Try and read the book of Rev chapter 5 & 6. You will get better understanding from them. Stay blessed |

Yet you couldn't tell us who Yahshua is according to the OP Yahshua is Jesus in the hebrew tongue..it is not suppose to be new thing for any christian. How does this solve the problem the OP raised? O yes! It does, it serves as a pointer that( the father is all in all) and the son is subjected to him.
Yahshua is God but 1 Cor. 15:27-28 shows he(Yahshua) is subjected to another called God (Yahweh). Remember there's no god either in heaven or on earth beside Yahweh. O yes you are right Isaiah 45:5-6 "5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: 6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else." |

To answer ur question, Jesus Christ is not God. As for u that talks about Jesus as d word, yes he is God's word who came in human form, he is God's word and was with God and God's word is God. Jesus as the word was created by word unlike Adam and Eve, he speaks and it come to pass. A lot of figures of speech were used in d bible and require grace to properly interprets them. So whenever u pick ur bible to read, pray for divine understanding |
