He won because it's the will of God

For the person talking about Catholics and Igbo , so ? Muslims are pro APC and Yoruba Muslims are very many in Lagos, Yoruba traditional worshipers , he also has his own Church votes , Hausa voters and generally many Yorubas who were irritated by Jimi's tactics .

Jimi was beaten simple

Inasmuch as elections has been won and lost, I would like Lagos APC to review why and how they lost 45% of votes in Lagos state. The margin of win was less than 150,000 (I think 800k votes to Jimi's 650k or so).
If the opposition could get up to 45% of total votes cast and giving the 16yrs ruling party a run for their money, then their is something they are not doing right / or there's something better the opposition is offering.

This is how PDP gradually lost out; a gradual decline in popularity until a last straw that will break the camel's back.

My 2 cents.
Very true.
One of it is because of the now revised LASU school fees increment and Tinubu factor that many has tagged the kingmaker and the "real landlord" of Lagos.

Talking about paradigm shift cool
Who would have thought another party could defeat PDP finally. But it happened, and that goes a long way to prove that nothing really lasts forever.
Welcome to the new Nigeria where #APC is the winning team and #PDP is the opposition team.
Baba no fall our hand sha... We believe in your government. One love.

The reason is that person to person Jk is more popular than Ambode. But the ACN track record and Tinubu mastery along with the need to allign with Bihari to finally give Lagos a federal presence after 16yrs did the magic. Otherwise JK had more personal influence than Ambode.

True... But the Major thing was because he had the full support of "THE LION OF BOURDILLON" I hope he continues with the good work Fashola has done. For the first time in 16 years, lagos would enjoy the full support of the FG, and he is lucky to be in power at this spectacular time so he has no excuse to fail. We need 4th Mainland bridge, very important.

Have no fear; Mannylex is here

Nice one there bro...4th mainland bridge asap...The traffic on 3rd mainland bridge every working days can reduce the life span of an individual.

Towering Support from Tinubu and Fashola

Not many States can boast in the 4th Republic of the cooperation of Governors since 1999 till date, but Lagos is one example of how the baton of leadership has moved from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola and now Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.

The APC candidate unlike his counterpart across the Nation and in other parties, enjoyed the massive support of Tinubu and Fashola in the Gubernatorial campaigns across the State.

Even when the Oba Akiolu statement came up, creating the possibility of a swing in the votes, Governor Babatunde Fashola gave a passionate message to Lagosians which was inspiring and convincing.

The Tinubu/Fashola collaboration played a great role in the emergence of Ambode as Governor-elect.

Sustainability of Projects/Policies/Programs

One of the factors that facilitate development and growth in a States, is a sustainable policy framework. In Lagos the All Progressives Congress had laid out a policy framework that will guide the State to even 2025.

A change in government, was going to stall that as there was no guarantee that some of the mega projects embarked upon was going to continued.

With the Mile 12-Ikorodu road still ongoing, the rail project amongst others the APC campaigned vigorously urging Lagosians to vote for the continuity of the legacy projects in Lagos State.

These two points carry "heavy weight" in my opinion.

You are correct but you have also forgotten that when power wants to change hands, it is always like that. Fashola almost lost his first election too because only few people knew him. That is what just happened to Ambode too.

Another factor is the Religion and Tribal politics that PDP (Jimi Agbaje by extension) played. The gimmick almost destroyed APC until Tinubu brought Prof Osinbajo out to change the political equation in the nation. Divisive Style of PDP is the issue here. They demonised APC as bigoted whereas, they are the real bigots because APC has never toed that line before-religion and tribes.

Finally, the cosmopolitan status of Lagos is another factor. It is not like Ekiti or Anambra that some few individuals can control easily. If you doubt it ask Kano previous gov-Shekarau or Kwakawso why they lost to their successors. Amaechi just lost to Wike too, etc. Second term will be better for Ambode when people see his performance and ability, that is what will remove the aura of uncertainty around him. Remember Fashola had 1.5M compared to Dosunmu's 300,000 in his second term election.

Eko o nibaje oo.

This sentiment far above any other played the most important consideration among middle/Upper and educated Lagosians.

The thought of a derailment from the working framework was just what many could not contemplate or dream of........I'm sure that even Agbaje will agree that it will be an uphill task to change people perception about such policy framework.

At the end of the day, Ambode's victory is a triumph of common sense over base and illogical sentiments....

The only reason some of my Igbo colleagues settled for Ambode was continuity of Fashola's work.

obj built pdp on rigging and not mobilising populace ...while ACN was built on mobilization..ACN depends largely on voters to win while obj pdp depending on rigging to win...but with GEJ determination for a better electoral process pdp lost out as they were not schooled in art of voters mobilization
