Nope, it is 1,800. At least in Abuja it is 1,800 everywhere you go.
then I will pay 1800 which is not a problem to me anyways. My sub ends next week.

I haven't paid for this month and there is no where I said I paid 1,700. I said that was the information I got and I'm hoping to pay when next I'm subscribing which is next week. But all the same, I still maintain that I can still pay up to 7k per month and I will not be worrying abt 16k for dstv

I paid 14K for the premium package on thursday morning, a marked deviation from the usual 11650, and I didn't find it funny at all.

I can't do without my SS3, otherwise I'd have had a change of plan.

Something, someone, our government has got to do something and quickly too about this South-African company exploiting ordinary Nigerians and smiling to the bank with millions of our 'HARD EARNED' naira!!!
They are equally exploiting their own people. Their people are complaining like us too.
The issue is that as long as the rights for major stuff like epl and laliga are sold to one organisation, this will continue.Dstv has the rights to epl in Africa. Even after they broke naija away from the rest, they still won the bids for both. The greed of Dstv is understandable in the face of monopoly. the greed of the right owners for these sports competitions is what is more worrying.
When a local had the chance of breaking their monopoly, he messed up.

How can you have better football channels when someone already has the rights to most leagues for the next few years?

I paid for two months, that's April and May in advance still my account was suspended and I was told to go and pay the remaining balance of 1000naira after I spent about 500naira airtime calling their customer care line and they deliberately refused to pick my call.honestly speaking,DSTV is taken Nigerians for granted and getting away with it.as for me,I am done with them

Well you cannot blame SA for poor customer service, unless DSTV employees in Nigeria are South Africans.

dude, the next sub is just 1,700. We have received the message since. And even if they increased it to 7k, I can still sustain it without whining. But I cannot afford the 14k for now. That's all I'm saying. And not that I can't pay it, but I can't pay for something and start complaining. All these yeye people wey dey talk, if dstv's signal go for two days, dem fit die on top complain. Not because of poor service, but because of the money they paid?

Na their type dey buy iPHONE 6 by all means, and if the phone lost, dem go almost entre lagoon!

Na by force?

But some people go even buy give dem 6yrs old kid and nothing go happen.

There is a big diff btw luxury and necessity. If u can't afford being luxurious for now, dnt fake it

At the end of this season Consat (Tinubu owned) is buying four seasons of the EPL and likewise rights to broadcast other Europeans Leagues. DSTV is fighting their last battle of survival as they know they can't fight the Jagaban in terms of money and deepness of their pocket.
Surely, their end is very near...........

Can't we all just boycott DStv? Nobody will die if you don't watch your SS3. It's so annoying how we complain yet we patronize these animals. I refused to renew my premium subscription for this month and when their customer care called me, I simply told them why I chose not to renew.

When they revert back to the old price, I will renew, until then it is operation boycott DStv.

As much as I'll like to agree with you , nigerians genrally donot completely accept " anything made in nigeria / by nigeria "
you can see it in clothes , accessories etc .we prefer paying higher for the same commodity/product provided it is an "abroad product". I know this because , I sell both types of product , and as a nigerian you should know which one would sell more.
Even when startimes is upgraded to be able to compete with DStv, a lot of Nigerians will still choose Dstv

Why do Nigerians have to pay more than people in the UK, USA, EU, and other advanced countries where minimum wages are higher than Nigeria.
UK minimum wage approximately 250,000 naira monthly. Sky package = 12,000 naira monthly
EU minimum wage approximately 230,000 naira monthly. Viasat full package = 10,000 naira monthly
Nigerian minimum wage approximately 20,000 naira montly. DSTV full package = 16,000 naira monthly.

Suffice to add that with the EU and UK packages, you get many many educative channels, and excellent sport coverage. But with DSTV, you get mostly trashy SA channels and NIGERIAN movies and news!
Are Nigerians on this earth to suffer?

do you think the right for British premirship is free. They paid over 100 million dollars to BPL for exclusive right and they are trying to make back the money they spend from the TV right. Every business should have the right to fix the price of their services. Its not a right but a privilege to have dstv service. DSTV is not NTA and they are in business to make money and profit. They have not break any Nigeria law by increasing the price of their services. If anyone cant afford their service then he should unsubscribe from dstv.
Yes, they have not broken any Law. I have no issues with DSTV but my grievance is with NBC and our legislators. Do you know that there is a bill entitled: A Bill for an Act to amend the
National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Act to
provide for competition in Nigeria, to promote
efficiency and expand opportunities for participation of Nigerians in world markets while at
the same time recognizing the role of foreign
competition in Nigeria and for other matters
related thereto, has passed the second reading.
A member of the House of Representatives, Hajiya
Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, in her submission, while defending the bill to amend the NBC Act, asked that the Act be amended to protect consumers and check monopoly of DSTV and other cable networks under the guise of exclusive rights. According to
the lawmaker, the shutting out of viewers of cable
televisions and limiting their access to important programmes are contrary to Section 16(1b and 2c) of the1999 Constitution.

Guy, DSTV is not a governmental broadcasting service but a premium pay tv service. What does DSTV has to do with minimum wage earners? If you are minimum wage earner you have no business with DSTV. So your argument above is dead on arrival. DSTV is not a necessity but a luxury item.
