Cymbal: (i) Ellipse. (ii) Hyperbola. (iii) does not exist. x²/25 + y²/16 = 1; comparing with: x²/a²+y²/b²=1, a=5, b=4. To find the eccentricity, we use: b²=a²(1-e²), e=3/5. Focus, S(±ae, 0); S(3,0) and S¹(-3,0). To obtain directrices (±a/e,0), which are: (25/3) and (-25/3) |

Arithmetic: in the case of k=25,the conic section is an ellipse a^2-b^2=c^2,where a is the point where the section cuts the positive x-axis,b is the point where it cuts the positive y-axis,c is the focus k^2-((k-9)^2)=c^2 k^2-(k^2-18k+81)=c^2 18k-81=c^2 where k=25 18(25)-81=c^2 450-81=c^2 369=c^2 c=3root41 so the foci are (3root41,0) and (-3root41,0) d which is the point where the directrix cuts the x-axis = a^2/f d=25^2/3root41,u can continue |

Please help me with this question. Three times tens digit of a two digit number is 1 less than twice the unit digit. When the digits are interchanged, the new number is 17 less than twice the original number. The original number is? If Musa scored 75 in biology Instead of 57 his average mark in four subjects would have been 60. What was his total marks? |

bolaji3071:I was getting decimal points in d first Qst! As. For the second....... Let his total score in 3 subjects be x.... Frm d first statement, a 75 score in Bio will giv him 60 average so (x + 75)/4 = 60..... x + 75 = 240.... x =165!(Score in 3 subjects)...... So his total mark will be (x + 57(real score in Bio)) = 165 + 57 =222 |

bolaji3071:let x=tense digit,y=unit digit frm d first sentence 3x=2y-1 2y-3x=1.......eq 1 frm d second sentence d original digit will b (10x+y).. Confused?...ok lets tak 21 for example,its d same az 10*2+1*1 where 2 is d tense digit and 1 is d unit digit... So frm d sec statment 10y+x=2(10x+y)-17 8y-19x=-17.....eq 2 solvin equation 1 and 2 simultanously x=3 and y=5 hence d 2 digit num =35 ..d sec question az been delt wit. |
