Abuja - Some Peoples Democratic Party chieftains are putting pressure on President Goodluck Jonathan to consider re-contesting for the presidency in 2019, reports Sahara Reporters. The chieftains noted that it was the party and not the President that failed in the 2015 general elections. They lay the defeat of President Jonathan in the March 28 presidential election on the doorsteps of members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), who refused to work assiduously to help President Jonathan win the election. The chieftains are pushing for the re-organization of the party to pave the way for the emergence of President Jonathan as the party’s candidate in the 2019 presidential election. One of President Jonathan’s close allies, Governor of Cross River state, Liyel Imoke, is being tipped to become the new chairman of the party. If the law permits it, then I don't see a problem. Its his right. Over a dozen people contested the last election. Nobody insulted them. Its their right. Whether he wins is another thing entirely. |

Joke of the century. Jonathan wouldn't even win Bayelsa state governorship primaries in PDP. The PDP guys knew Jonathan was a totally unsellable candidate but he remained their presidential candidate only because of his incumbency. With the PDP might, any other candidate by the PDP would have defeated Pa Buhari. Jonathan incompetence was the albatross of PDP. 1 Like |

Not possible. GEJ is too insecure to face a primary which will most likely be used in selecting a candidate for the 2019 election. Without the power of incumbency, he will not be able to outmuscle anyone. There is a better chance of mama piss (diversion: who has seen her since election sef) contesting than for GEJ to contest. 3 Likes |

No big deal in that He should just go on 4years prayer and fasting that Buhari and APC perfoms below expectation. If not....His cadidacy in 2019 election against Buhari or another APC candidate will just be like fashola VS koro in the 2011 election |

No, he wont. this is just a blogger or newspaper looking for traffic. He said he has been in prison for the last 16 years and then now he is free; going back to campaigning? Jonathan will become a statesman in his own right, far better than Obj for quickly conceding. He will be sent on troubleshoot missions around Africa. Hopefully the pressure of been out of office will bring out his leadership qualities to make a difference in such cases. He has tried and he does not strike me as someone ready for insults again. In any case PDP is dead for now. I hope they dig in and rebuild but looks like PDP is going down faster than a one legged whor.e from Paris. |
