eagleeye2: That's because this is not an empty statement, the North has the numbers to remain in power indefinitely if it chooses, and it is now the golden bride for the warring southern regions, any region that wants to get back at the other as it stands, needs the North to make its revenge possible. This is not a boast but a statement of fact, the evidence is there. Very unlike the empty chestbeating of owning 99% of Abuja or developing other states when your own states are backward, desolate, impoverished and under-developed. |

noblezone: No, Babangida did not annul the June 12 elections because Abiola was a non royal (wonder where you got that nonsensical idea from?) but because a few influential elites (from all the three major regions) were not comfortable with Abiola's emergence as president got together with Babangida and persuaded him to jettison the elections - against the clear wish of the majority in the north who had voted for Abiola, even as it were, against their own son, Bashir Tofa. Sorry, you are quite wrong; its not about north per say but about misgovernance, honour and integrity. Kwankwaso's message was a warning and a call for non tribal/ethnic politics in Nigeria, particularly by southern politicians against the north because such politics doesn't pay. APC's merger and victory was not about getting power back to the north but a coalition of mutual interests with the SW brought about by misgovernance, ineptitude and alienation of the ppl of these regions by Jonathan's administration, compounded by GEJ's crude divisive campaign utterances and insults on his behalf by those closely associated with him (PEJ, Asari Dokubo, FFK, etc); but by far the greatest cause of GEJ's loss was due to his perceived deliberate neglect of northern region on the issue of security where he ignored the slaughter of thousands of its ppl in the hands of Boko Haram, without lifting a finger until the eleventh hour when he needed their votes. Kwankwaso's message was a warning and an advice to southerners and their politicians: 1. Do not look down disparagingly at northerners with disdain because the Almajiri who is continuously at the buttress of your insults is equally capable of retaliating with his votes. 2. Recent voting in the north were not votes against the SS but against GEJ as the north had a historical alliance with the SS until Jona spoilt it. 3. Politics is a game of numbers, therefore anybody wishing to play regional politics against the north should be aware that the north too can play the same game and is always capable of coming together when threatened to exercise its majority votes. 4 Likes |

The backward north are masters of the game? I don't blame Kwankwaso. It is because we are still in this 'scam' called one Nigeria that an 'ab0ki' thinks that power is his exclusive preserve. One day Nigeria will disintegrate and the North can take their 'born to rule' ideology with them. The curse called Nigeria is why a Hausa man or Yoruba man think they can point to the face of an Igbo man and dictate who will president. You guys should enjoy while it lasts. 4 Likes |

eaglechild: Keep quiet, I have been to Aba, Onitsha, Awka and Abakaliki and I have seen the level of underdevelopment and poverty there, so I'm the last person you can fool with contrived figures. Under whose administration were the millennium goals supposed to be achieved? Is it not the same way Nigeria is touted to be Africa's largest economy based on released figures, but what's the reality? Smh. What makes matters worse is that you had an eastern President for 6 years yet the east and SS are still as undeveloped as ever. Kidnapping, baby factories, unemployment and crime are rampant all over your region, yet you all wanted the country to continue to suffer. The North is getting it's act together after decades of military rule, you will be pleasantly surprised at the efforts being made already, and that will be made under the new administration. |

QuotaSystem:You are not doing yourself any good by living in self denial. That is what your exploitative oligarchs have been feeding upon. Rise up and ask them questions and the North will be better. The MDG stats was not collected by a SEasterner. You say the north is getting itself together after military rule. That is so laughable cause, the rule was by northerners. The SE and SS suffered near annihilation and wanton destruction just some years ago and they have left you behind. That should be food for thought. 5 Likes 1 Share |

eaglechild: Nobody is saying there aren't areas of improvement, stop pretending you are in any better situation because of empirical figures derived from a deficient sample size, did you read the methodology of the research? Even you know those figures don't remotely reflect the reality on ground. The North still parades a virile middle class and an imposing upper class (Dangote, Dantata, Danjuma et al.) as well as inventors and intellectuals that are often overshadowed by our huge population (in any population, the have-nots usually outnumber the haves) and our quiet nature. Don't be deceived. 1 Like |

Mutuwa:After all elections, almajiri will go back to his street begging and waiting for govt handout or BH application, the man with one wife has a greater chance of training and sending his kids to school and lifting them from working class to upper class. Wake me up when that Almajiri becomes Sanusi unlike Soludo whose dad didn't even know LG HQ. The rich are getting richer while poor are having more babies thinking that strength is number. eaglechild: A soldier is a soldier whether northerner or southerner. Only democrats can achieve national development which is why GMB was only successful once Nigerians were convinced he is a reformed democrat. Military rule was a disaster to all Nigerians. The North is already reaping the rewards of having technocrats in authority, as can be seen in the works of Engr. Kwankwaso transformation of Kano with hundreds of gargantuan projects such as the longest flyover bridge in Africa, the imposingly beautiful North West University, and hundreds of international scholarships to develop the human capital, among many others. With others like Barr. Tambuwal etc. winning governorship elections and under the transparent leadership of GMB, it can only get better for Arewa. 2 Likes 1 Share

QuotaSystem: You have still refused to accept reality. The north has a dysfunctional wealth distribution. There is an overwhelming number of people leaving in abject poverty. Then there is a hand filled number of super rich folks who are mostly a direct beneficiary of the corrupt military regimes.
