Back in the day, if i absolutely had to, i would pick Calabar for retirement in a heart beat. Calabar, because it so clean and peaceful. I don't know about now though. I was born, bred and raised in Lagos and was only opportuned to visit Calabar because of work. Next would have been Port harcourt. The only problem i had was those touts who would pounce on a company branded vehicle and fleece every nickel and dime from you. Third would be Ibadan. What can i say, I am a sucker for quality Amala with gbegiri and ewedu grin

My favourite state to live in Nigeria is Enugu.
It is a lovely state with great weather, low crime rate and good roads.
If you are looking for the quiet life, then enugu is for you.
The scenery is also great and everything you need can be found in Enugu.

2nd favourite place to live in is Calabar.
Very neat and lovely state. The weather is a little too humid for my liking and you will end up perspiring alot.
Depends on the time of the season. The state is basically a low income state. Government and tourism is the biggest source of income.
If you are a womanizer, calabar is also the place to be.

3rd favourite place: Lagos.

Lagos is like the New-york of Nigeria. High stress levels, class disparity and acceptable security. If you love the fast life then lagos is for you.
I would strongly recommend you live in the sub-urban areas and avoid in inner cities. You could stay in either ikeja, lekki, ajah or festac.
i wouldnt recommend living in any other area.

4th fav place: abuja.
i havent really lived in abuja but from my visits, it looks very good. VERY HOT WEATHER SHA!!!..... oya, the ball in ya court!

What of AkwaIbom? I heard there's a plaza, cinema, beach & Mamywater babes there...i'm really planning to carve a niche there for myself.

Calabar, though not as beautiful as before, is still one of the best in Nigeria.

The image that you have shown of waste overflowing from the collection bins can be seen everywhere - ask people in NYC about how filthy that city is because of how refuse is left to fester in every corner of the city, Calabar is not even half as bad.

Sadly it happens when the refuse collectors are delayed.

Calabar is still safe and clean, cleaner than most Nigerian cities for sure.

Its not what calabar is known for!

When Don was governor, you wouldn't see such rubbish.

Calabar is living on past glory..
Nothing is happening here again.

Well.. Hope the next administration will bring back sanity.

Safe?
Clearly you don't live in Calabar.. Lol

Otueke cheesy

Otuoke is actually becoming a modern city daily. GEJ developed that place to the fullest. There are now hotels there, parks, modern low cost and elite housing estates, complete tarred road connection, a modern hospital, a federal university and several other MDGs projects.

@Quizical *standing ovation*

That piece is just wow!
The part about the calabar women and their dress sense... Its really something. Lol.

In all, it 'was' beautiful city..
Right now, immorality, crime, over filed trash and what have you, seems to be the other of the day.

There was a city, indeed sad

Can you show me a place where young women do not dress revealing that is not a Islamic enclave?

This is just a street in calabar na. You cant use it to generalise. Calabar is far better than most Nigerian states in terms of development.

I'm not generalizing..

Every street in Calabar is a dumping ground now.

What kinda development? fashion?

It's not 'every' street.

It's not even most streets, stop lying.

If you want filthy go to Onitsha or the Lagos mainland.

Even parts of Abuja become unsightly because of the refuse.

Calabar is much cleaner than all of them.

Not every street has rubbish strewn everywhere as you have made out.

Most places in Calabar municipality are very clean.

The people there seem to have a greater respect for their environs than in many places in Nigeria.

If you have issues with Calabar that is fine but do not misrepresent the city - everyone can see that you are lying.

I spend a lot of time there and I know a lot of people who live there - no one that I know is crying about crime.

If you live in Calabar South then I feel for you but do not paint the city as something that it is not.

Excuse me..

You should speak the truth.

The city is no good, anymore.

Mind you, I live there too!

Things are not as good as they use to be down here.

Every 'tourist site' is dead.

Before now, there was never a day that met the trash bins filled!

Crime is on the rise.

The cost of living has worsened..

What's more? Civil servants have not seen pay in months!

I'm still lying? cheesy
