I did NOT say that! I just said why feed the enemy. I am completely against Ojukwu and the Biafran campaign. I have no beef with Igbos... My issue is with Igbotic Zombies that worship the idea of Biafra and Ojukwu, when we all know that the actions of Ojukwu caused over 1 million civilian deaths. Currently I have only 5 close friends - 1 Yoruba, 1 Isoko, 3 Igbos [all my University and Secondary school friends]. I don't hate my Igbo friends... far from it! Remarkable: 3 Likes |

teeowl: ... and don't you know that Ojukwu did not want war in the first place? Igbos are peaceful people... and the trip to Aburi in Ghana to meet Gowon was to find a solution to the crises... I wish that tens of thousands of Igbos in the north were not being hounded and killed for issues they have no clue about... I wish our military men would have settled scores... but it is what it is. |

Rotimi47: Is this they history they teach Yorubas about the war? No wonder they don't know much about the Nigerian civil war. For your information, Ojukwu was the one who released Banjo from jail, gave him accommodation in Government house and promoted him to the rank of a Brigadier-General in the Biafran Army. While the Nigerian Army attacked Enugu from the north, Ojukwu delegated Banjo to head towards the west and capture Lagos. There is no way the Biafrans could get to Lagos without going through Ore. Banjo did well initially and captured the mid-west, but for reasons that are not clear to this very day,he turned back at Ore and headed back to Enugu. Back at Enugu, Banjo along with Ifeajuna conspired to use their troops to overthrow Ojukwu. They were tape recorded as they hatched their plan and were subsequently arrested, tried and executed. In the Military, just planning a coup can lead to death. All of this was about 2 months into the civil war so its not Banjo played a prominent role for the duration of the war. As for Ojukwu escaping, Biafra had fought hard for almost 3 years and Ojukwu was there every step of the way. When Ojukwus military commanders finally told him that all hope was lost, Ojukwu left. What would have been the point of staying back to be slaughtered? The same people who call Ojukwu a coward for running away from a fight he had already lost would have been the same people who would have called him a f00l for staying back to be killed when all hope was lost. Ultimately, the Biafrans fought for their right to be free and if a people cannot fight for their right to freedom, they might as well be dead. |

teeowl: Its easy to criticize Ojukwu... let me ask you this, what could Ojukwu had done which you'd think was the right thing to do... recall that he had personally taken Igbos back to the north where they had built a livelihood... and yet... civilians were being rounded up and killed. When you are killed all over the country where you'd been domicile... isn't the hand writing on the wall clear? |

This is what I would have done *********************** * Organize a security team (made up of my loyal Igbo soldiers) to get all the Igbos back from the North. * Demand from the ruling Govt that the culprits of the Igbo onslaught must be brought to book. * Take my case of Genocide to the world powers (even though they were all busy with their own problems at that time) * Come up with an economic plan for the returning Igbos to start earning Income * Do anything and everything possible to prevent a full scale war! - losing a few thousand is better than losing over 1 million innocent Igbo civilians Remarkable: 2 Likes |

omonnakoda: You are out of your mind. You cannot distort history. So much for the professional Nigeria army. The accounts of the civil war are within reach, go grab an independent account and educate yourself. Biafra held Nigeria at bay for three years, ran over Nigerian military camps, used recovered weapons from Nigeria to hold Nigeria off. Biafra built its own bombs, attempted to manufacture its own plane. It is a fact that Nigeria used more arms to prosecute the Nigeria/Biafra war than all the small arms used in world war II. Where did Nigeria get those weapons from? You are out of your freaking mind to claim that Nigerian army were professional. If not for Britain, Nigeria was beaten by Ojukwu. If not for Britain, and Russia, Biafra would have emerged. France almost took sides with the diplomacy of Zik, but Britain told France to stay clear of its former colony. The likes of Saro Wiwa who took sides with Nigeria did not help matters. Go back and listen to Ojukwu's Ahiara declaration speech where he tongue lashed Britain, and Russia. If France had joined forces with Biafra, again, Biafra would have emerged. |

sethken: It is a blatant lie that Biafra held Nigeria at bay for three years. Biafra was finished almost immediately, the rest was a waiting game and skirmishes that saw millions die of hunger and eventual capitulation. 2 Likes |

He and the eastern assembly especially were fed up with the killings of Igbos that lasted for months... if all Igbos returned to the east and stayed there without moving to any parts of Nigeria... then what is the point of answering the same name as Nigeria? (we are not living in your country cause you don't want us... it seems like an open and close case to me... unless you say he could have fought small and then given up... but again.. it is what it is. 1 Like |

teeowl:now listen you biased igbophobe, ojukwu was a hero. that was not the first time Igbo were killed around the country. he had to follow it up diplomatically and even encouraged Igbo to go back to the various regions where they ran home from. the stupid ruling govt you are referring to actually backed the later killings that took place and were uncoperative in all the effort by ojukwu to resolve the issue including the aburi accord. ojukwu was left with no choice than to do what he did. don't say he was unprepared because the only saviour Nigeria had was the selfish foreigners that were fighting for their own interest. you yorobs from the South West will always be biased and read only accounts manipulated or expurgated to put 'Nigeria' in good light and Biafra in bad light. |
