Its wisdom. some, not all, gain wisdom and class from interacting with people who act more civilized. you learn how to be composed, you learn how to be independent as opposed to looking for houseboy and housegirl, you learn how to keep your voice down,. all in all you learn how to be a better person. so that makes you superior to the average savage brutish person who has never left nigeria. yeah i said it grin

If anything, i think it's because those at home have inferiority complex and feel they have to hear from the guy that lives abroad before they go ahead with an action

Seconded.

Don't take it personal, he has only asked a simple question out of observation. He hasn't accused anyone.

The dishwashers, toilet cleaners and asylum seekers are the ones with this mentality. just as some poor men feel superior and talk down the rich too in Nigeria

This post is a tard bit loose ended and stereotypical. It depends on the country you refer to as abroad, Nigerians can't change their skin colour so it makes no sense for anyone to feel superior or inferior to those living in Nigeria. But I will tell you why most Nigerians wait for the man abroad to have his say on the matter. He lives in a differently structured society and therefore would likely have an out of the box approach. The African wise man doesn't make decisions till he has thought thoroughly about it and heard what every adviser has to say before passing judgement. In most places, no one would take the man in diaspora's say seriously if he wasn't contributing wisdom to the matter at hand. Let's not forget that Rwanda and Somalia are also abroad countries too. If the Nigerian thinks his brother in those countries feels superior to him, then there is definitely something wrong in his head.

You travelled to Russia, and you came back with a British accent. God is watching you. Things from abroad are not from above.

Probably, it's the guys at home who are breeding the inferiority complex.

The guy out there for all you care is also hustling to keep body and soul together. Yes, when he breaks his GBP or USD to Naira, it makes sense to see the big boy in him arise

But not enough to make my brother at home cringe in self-defeat!

God bless Nigeria

There is no way a guy living abroad will not be smarter than guys at home
high level of competition among Nigerians abroad(am gonna make it first)
you have to be smart because you dont have family(you are on your own)
Immigration problem,....you have to be very smart to avoid this,am gonna get paper first, arrangee things, using someone else passport to go outside
Sugar mummy things
If you no get pali and you get sick, you are on your own
if you no get pali and you see police you no run,you are on your on
A situation where person wey help you get job go dey demand for 30 percent
money and money and money things
apartment things and bill things
you just have to be smarter, remember mama will only welcome a kid who brought cash home
YOU GO PAY PERCENTAGE DIE if you dey abroad

INTERESTING TOPIC. JUST LOOK AT YOUR BEHAVIOR WITH YOUR VISITORS WITH LIGHTER SKINS AND HOW THEY'VE BECOME KINGS OF THE MANOR AROUND YOU. WILL YOU ALLOW FAMILY MEMBERS LIKE THAT TO MAKE IMPORTANT DECISIONS THAT WILL AFFECT ALL? YOU BE THE JUDGE

Talking abt ignorance, the fact that a person stays abroad doesn't bestow on him an avalanche of knowledge on every leasing and tenancy laws. Go thru my post again for better judgement. I am talking about him giving consideration to the family ties entrenched in our lifestyle. At least the visitor could be a friend who just got DEPORTED or a brother who just got a new job in town and needs some months to figure himself out. That could be obtainable abroad but am talking of Nigeria!! Most of these 'akata' folks lived their earlier years in Nigeria but easily shed off the norms they grew up in cos of abroad mentality. SMH.

because they are wiser and ffound out that those norms are actually killing. How many of those you helped actually looked back or respond when you need them

This also bring my advice to the president- elect Mohammed Buhari, BECAUSE those who school or grow up abroad see them self as real human being cos there parent steal money or stay in public office in Nigeria why they send children oversees and they do rubbish while in office, eg they throw any thing at us like STRIKE IN SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES, NO ELECTRICITY, BAD ROAD, UNEPLOYMENT, INSECURITY JUST TO MENSION but few, all this things they throw at us and even make gust of us when talking with there families oversees, this is why those living abroad see them self's as superior than you that is here HOW CAN THIS STOP.
My advice to the president is to have a process in place that will curb and control those in public office from taking there children oversees why in office to school or to live there until they live office, if you watch well almost all public office holder family member don't live here in NIGERIA they send them out for the fear of being touch or maltreated inhumanly which is the other of day here, so why wont they see them self as superior, I was formerly working with AERO CONTRACTOR COMPANY I notice that if you are to be hired as a cabin crew you must be pregnant until three years as a flying staff even if you are married so this can be employed here in NIGERIA that if you must take public office your children will live here to enjoy your GOVERNANCE period so that those planning to enter will be guided.

You do know that Jonathans pose is highly regarded over here. It indicates attentiveness and respect. Which is why the military insists that a subordinate must stand like that in front of a superior or be charged with disrespect to an officer or non commissioned officer. They wish they could make their children behave like that but alas they can't.
