Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by Nozzle(m): 9:30am On Apr 30, 2015 |
twaintoy:Yes Transcript!...your school is sending it sealed, with your ECA Number on the envelop. You should use a fast courier service - UPS or dhl. You don't need to send certificates. |
Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by Nozzle(m): 9:34am On Apr 30, 2015 |

Nozzle pls to get the maximum points, is it best i apply as a single lady or married? Highest qualification is a Masters degree i am married but all my passports and documents still have my maiden name. |
Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by Nozzle(m): 10:49am On Apr 30, 2015 |
helovesme:Thats a tough one! Yes applying single has lots of advantage ofcos as you can see from the points disparity. However, I guess what i have seen from the points allocation, as couples you can maximize your points if both of you get involved in the process. Meaning, your husband must be willing to do IELTS, have his documents verified, his work experience, level of education etc will count as points towards your overall point. That's the challenge, getting your spouse involved! especially when he gets a good IELTS Score, that counts as points too. if your husband is committed to it, you would be better of applying as married! because if all this falls through, you don't have to go through the stress of applying for PR for your spouse again! So you might think of it in the long term. In that case a change of name on your passport should be your next important move- i think that's done in abuja. Conversely, if you are not sure of his involvement and both of you consent for you to apply as single, then way to go! less stress but it might just get complicated much later when you want to file for him. I'm not sure if my answer is thorough enough, Please if there is anyone in the house with similar experience pls your contribution is highly welcomed. BTW I'm still single, not so qualified to address this issue! |

Nozzle: thanks for your response. you are right - my main challenge is getting my husband involved. i am not sure he has the time or patience to study/sit for the IELTS exam. I will speak to him about it though. thanks again. I have another question please. i have two transcripts - one from a Nigerian university while the other from a uk university. Can i send both together from my base abroad? Or should I have the Nigerian transcript sent by my relative from Nigeria to WES? |
Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by redhot007: 11:58am On Apr 30, 2015 |
helovesme: I think applying as single when you are married could be seen as misrepresentation cos when u finally want to add or spouse your wedding cert will show the date as being before ur application date. Not sure but please investigation that before u make a mistake |
Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by Nozzle(m): 12:28pm On Apr 30, 2015 |
helovesme:Though where you are sending it from doesn't really matter, i sent my nigerian transcript from the Portsmouth, however since both transcripts are from different schools, it's just logical to send them separately even if you have both of them at hand. So allow your relative dhl your Nigerian transcript to WES ofcos with your ECA Number clearly written on the package. While you can send the UK transcript from your base, ECA Number also written on it. As long as you have both education details on the application form you filled online, they will treat them accordingly. |

helovesme: Don't dare apply as a single, your real status will later come to bare and you will be denied entry into Canada for 5years, hopefully if not for life. I understand your desire to get the maximum points but from my observation, spouse's points aren't exactly that much(i've seen a situation where total points scored with spouse ECA and IELTS is like 447 while without is like 421, i think this should help your decision, tho if yo can persuade him to write it, it will be good). The most important is for you to ensure you score very very high in your IELTS, it's a big determinant of what your total score will eventually come to Also, sending your transcripts by yourself should be done with all care, as it must look like its coming from school. If WES discovers it didn't come from school, you may be on your own. There's a usually a covering note on the transcripts i think, and as such, the one from Nigeria shoud be obtained from school, you may then colect it by hand or someone you know hep you collect it and then send via courier. Note that wes requires that you send a photocopy of your certificate, so, include a copy of it in the courier envelope. Its also instructive to note that WES will still send back to your school in Nigeria that school should confirm the transcript came from them, i suggest you find someone who can be helping you monitor when WES will send back to school so they can help fast-track the reply and then your evaluation can start(you may request school to provide an email on the covering note when issuing the transcript initially, that WES can request verification through the email while they reply. It helps eliminate the downtime that will be caused if the verification is to be done via paper mail. |

Nozzle:To collect transcript for international use is 25k, local is 10k. How to get it sent to me directly is what am trying to figure out so I can send it to WES myself. My school doesn't give transcript to individual. Any suggestion please? I need to get it sent asap. |

twaintoy: Its Canadian Dollar, not US Dollar. You will see it when you want to pay and if you will pay using your atm card, you will discover the amount they will remove will not be up to the equivalent of the US Dollar value |
