[quote author=IyfeNamikaze post=33428154] be not fooled, this tribal nonsense only exists mostly on social media. whatever happens here doesn't translate to the real world. experience. [/quote I sure do hope so. However, the last election and the sentiments expressed after the outcome proves otherwise. Big Business and politicians have no permanent enemies as long as they are making money and it'll take more than big business and or politicians to bridge the gap of mistrust birthed by the civil war. Most people will sleep with their foes if will make them money. What I am calling for is stronger cultural ties which will help ease the tribalism that often dictates who we vote for and where we reside. 1 Like |

ANAMBRA11: Don't mind the yorubas. I have written about this evolutionary trend severally, that because of biological, genetically and cultural endowments of Igbos (especially the beauty of their womanhood), yoruba men and indeed their culture will continue to gravitate toward the Igbo, with a far reaching implications for their economy, culture and most importantly their women. They will never accept the idea of Biafra or the phrase that " Lagos is no man's land" at the same time. Speak of illogical logic of a way of thinking cos of this gravitation towards any thing Igbo . In fact, the word Igbo has become sexy for the yorubas, and if you doubt me, research into how many countless times the word "Igbo" has been mentioned in nairaland since 2005. My honest advice to them, is for the Yoruba Obas to undertake a peaceful expedition to their counterparts in the East, and possibly sign a one thousand years peace treaty. If sharia can be functional under the nose of the Nation's constitution, such an undertaking can also be accomodated within the constitution. " Tomorrow, we will read yet another news of yoruba man feeling like he just win 1 million dollars cos of his marriage to another beautiful Igbo lady, while Igbo men and yoruba women wonders. 6 Likes 1 Share |

FreeGlobe: I beg to differ on the Niger bridge being a fraud. The young man's first trip to the east through the Niger bridge was an eye opener for him.The bridge has been existing for years without any maintenance work carried out. The steel bridge was reinforced on both sides during routine maintenance recently carried out before it was sprayed with silver paint. If he had taking a glance to his right while on the bridge he would have noticed Julius berger presently sandfilling the river and piling works had commenced for the second Niger bridge. |

Ilekeh:/ The reasons Igbo people flocked to Lagos: 1) Lagos was the federal capital before and after the civil war. 2). After the war, the federal government used federal might to frustrate importers through PortHarcourt. A lot of Igbo business men moved to Lagos because of this. And if you have ever moved goods from Lagos to the East, you will understand the frustration and extortion these guys go through on a daily basis from Customs and Policemen. I will give you an example: Every unregistered or newly registered car pays mandatory minimum N200 per police checkpoint and N1000 per Customs checkpoint or they will threaten the driver with a frame up. And there are more than 30 checkpoints from Ogun to Ondo alone. This is applicable only if your documents are in order. The Ondo state axis is the worst. It gets worse during festive periods. So Fed. Govt intentionally made it so to make Igbo people the cash cow and frustrate their businesses. But you won't know anything about that bc the only ventures you have undertaken in life is buying a phone and commenting on social media. / 13 Likes |

But they don't know that there's many igbo business guys that based in the east that never come to lagos for once and their are stinky rich. .... because many of them that chat here never moved out of they south west for once. ....but my prayer is that ....just make a move ...and try to pay a visit to east then you will use your tongue to count your teeth. ....... 6 Likes

The Yorubas know Kola, Hausas eat Kola, but (we) Igbos CELEBRATES Kola... It is like an Elephant to us, and you must recognise its presence, praise it, send wishes through it, break it and it must be eaten one bite at a time. 5 Likes |

@OP, your second point is wrong. I'm Yoruba also and have been a regular traveller to Onitsha in the last one year. Did you bother to ask from anyone around where the second Niger bridge is?, or you just concluded there is no work ongoing on the second bridge since you had expected it to lie side by side with the first. You'll really need to repeat your visit to Ashaba\onitsha and this time around make sure you ask questions because tourism is not all about seeing but also asking questions. SECOND NIGER BRIDGE IS NOT A FRAUD; AS YOU ARE CROSSING FROM ASABA TO ONITSHA, TURN RIGHT AND LOOK AFAR OFF, YOU'LL SEE WORK ONGOING. This was my last observation as at early March. Work may have however slowed down for obvious reasons; the initiator is not going to be the finisher and let's hope GMB sees to its completion. 5 Likes |

It is a very rare thing to find a Yoruba person in Igbo land. On the converse side, most Igbo men would have visited at least one Yoruba state or Lagos before the age of 20. |

FreeGlobe:Nice one,you got it all right, but please find time and visit owerri or next time you visit Anambra go to onitsha you'll see how dudes are rushing during weekends only to spend their weekends in owerri, but don't forget to ask them why? Owerri is home of fun! Note: an average igbo man is fun loving,we bear no qualms with anyone, we are jolly good fellows. Thanks and God bless you for your true confession 2 Likes |

eaglechild: What are we looking for? there's peace at home. Meanwhile the few of us who embarked on the journey by force due to NYSC had a different story to tell. Really, I don't necessarily enjoy bringing other tribes down, we all have our STRENGTHS and WEAKNESSES, but when a tribe makes it, their job to bring others down, then we've to start listing out their too OBVIOUS weaknesses. Meanwhile, if home is so great why the rush to get out as early as 13yrs old. |
