I didn't download the update. If your phone is not rooted, you will have no problem with the update but it it's rooted, you may likely brick your device. As for what difference does it make, see the picture below.

And we all know the main things that lured your friend was the battery , the big screen , the fast charge , the power of Android (data tweaks). etc.
