T-129 maximum weapons payload - 1,200kg http://www.army-technology.com/projects/t129-attack-helicopter/ Rooivalk maximum weapons payload - 2000kg http://www.flightglobal.com/FlightPDFArchive/1994/1994%20-%202293.PDF 1.6 times more weapons payload. patches689: Like Augaugust stated, the Turks evaluated both, and they come to the absolute conclusion that the T-129 far out-classes the Half-french. Hence the half-french was roundly rejected, which lead to the closure of it's production line with only 12 units built and 10 in active service anywhere in the world. 2 Likes 1 Share |

patches689: Su-24 jet payload 8,000 kg Gripen jet payload 5,300 kg Does heavier load make the Su-24 better than Gripen? Payload is not same as engagement firepower, the 4 barrel gun is 4 times more powerful. Extra payload for weaker guns and obsolescent munitions weakens the Rooivalk.....NAF is pushing SAAF further backward behind us . 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 4:53pm On May 08, 2015 |
agaugust: Is the Gripen the same class of aircraft as the Su-24? Rooivalk has a bigger payload. The same gun... and more ammunition for it. Again, you shot your mouth off before doing your homework and have embarrassed yourself. Rooivalk can deploy more weapons, thus it has more firepower. Fact. |

Henry120:What country maintains its squadrons at full wartime capability? SAAF still has reserve pilots. The submarines have demonstrated what they're needed for, one might be in Nigerian waters right now. Operational requirements! Not what's available. |

Rheinmental makes the most advanced munition in the world. Dual fed, ability to switch from armour piercing to high explosive. |

MikeCZAR: T-129: advanced millimetre wave radar (MILDAR), similar to the Longbow and the IAI/ELTA radars. Rooivalk: Doppler radar and GPS ( obsolete piece of junk) T-129: AGM-114 Hellfire missiles (the best in the world even the Reaper drones and advanced American systems use it) Rooivalk: Mokopa missile ( sounds like makossa no offence) **mokopa isn't in service with the SAAF** 3 Likes 1 Share |

Why are we sill entertaining this whole T-129 vs Rooivalk thing in the first place? Nigeria does not and will not have the T-129, Its just a another dream like the T80,Super Tucano,JF-17, FH77 L52 ,ect ect ect In fact theres a better chance that SAAF will acquire additional Rooivalk MK2s and upgrade the rest before NAF even puts out a tender for a new Attack Helo! BTW the Rooivalk MK1 is better than the T-129!! 2 Likes |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 10:11pm On May 08, 2015 |
MikeCZAR: Apparently not as much as your generals and defence ministry officials got buying fighter jets you are too mentally handicapped to fly. “South Africa acquired three submarines that spend most of the time on the ‘hard’ at Simon’s Town and 50 BAE Hawk and BAE/Saab Gripen fighter aircraft for which the country had almost no pilots to fly them, mechanics to maintain them, or even the money to fuel them. (Mail & Guardian [Johannesburg], April 21, 2012). Without money to operate sophisticated equipment, skilled staff continue to flee at the end of their enlistment and there is little opportunity for new recruits to train in skills useful in the civilian world. Parliament's Joint Standing Committee on Defense has described abuse of women in the SANDF as "common," adding that many female recruits have been impregnated by their instructors (BUAnews, November 26, 2011). You are apparently good at impregnating female recruits. Good for you!! 3 Likes 1 Share |

MikeCZAR: What country can only raise 9 pilots after 16years of signing the contract for 26 Gripens? The only thing your Subs have demonstrated is, the ability to hit the sea bed at lightning speeds. 9 Pilots for 26 Planes is operational requirements..... LOL!! 3 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 10:26pm On May 08, 2015 |
MikeCZAR: 26 new Swedish-built Gripen fighter-jets, purchased at a cost of R10 billion (approximately $1 billion), average only two hours in the air each week; not enough to keep the machines in operable condition and far from the 10 hours of flight-time each week considered necessary to keep pilots well-trained Former SAAF chief Lieutenant General Carlo Gagiano retired in 2012 after trying to resign in late 2011 during his hospitalization for stress as he continued to try unsuccessfully to find enough money for the fuel and maintenance to keep the SAAF in the air Pathetic bunch of losers!!! 1 Like 1 Share |
