Additionally, Jibrin said, six NN ships including NNS Ayam, Barama, Brass, Ekun, Ogue and Yola are currently undergoing refit at the NN Dockyard, Lagos.

The Naval Chief expressed Navy's confident that its local refit efforts will contribute to NN capacity to patrol the nation's vast maritime environment.

"It is worth mentioning that the Nigerian Navy has just signed an agreement with PRIVINVEST, a ship building company in the United Arab Emirates to come to Nigeria and partner with us, so that we can upgrade the Naval Dockyard Lagos in order to begin local construction of capital ships which will meet international standard", he disclosed

It clearly states the missile crafts are undergoing an up-grade, and the corvette has taken part in to exercises African winds 2013 and with the chinese in 2014 hence her crew are on-board.

Is the Gripen the same class of aircraft as the Su-24?

Rooivalk has a bigger payload.

The same gun... and more ammunition for it.

Again, you shot your mouth off before doing your homework and have embarrassed yourself.

Rooivalk can deploy more weapons, thus it has more firepower. Fact.

I just showed you that aircraft firepower superiority is not measured by payload size.

Su-24 Fencer and Gripen jet are both built to do air to ground attack, the Gripen has more firepower because it carries better weapons technology despite the Su-24 Fencer carrying extra 3,000 kg of weapons above the capacity of the Gripen.

Use your head, even though I know you never really do.....dummy !

If you were to deploy outside Nigeria, you'll need air traffic control capabilities.

Or your jets will not operate during bad weather and limited at night.

Show us your military deployable air traffic and control radars.

Who told you that air forces carry full scale air traffic control radars to FAB ? Air bases with hundreds of combat aircraft have been operating successfully without air traffic control radar since world war I in 1918.

Most air forces in the world will operate an FOB without long range radar.

F-7NI is all weather day/night fighter, even old MiG-21 was doing night combat in Indo-Paki wars.

Military air forces don't need air traffic control radar to operate an FOB of 2 squadron aircraft, unless they are dummies like SAAF whose Southie brains need computers for basic arithmetic.

If South Africa has a big war with 5 forward air bases, do you have 5 mobile radars? The same radars you are claiming for SAAF are the very same mobile radars that belong to SADF army regiments, so when you donate those 3 or 5 radars to air bases, what radar will warn/safeguard your army on 5 different war fronts against enemy air attack?

You like to talk like if SANDF is tall, but it's feeble legs are very short grin grin

Lightweight scout type of helicopter.

Not in the class of MI-28, Rooivalk and Apache!

T-129 is an attack helicopter, and it's recce/combat.

It has superior fling endurance than Mi-28, Rooivalk, or Apache.

T-129 can do recce for hours to find target and then attack. Those bigger helicopters would have run out of fuel on patrol

Rooivalk: 6 Hardpoints.
T-129: 4 Hard points.

Rooivalk has 4 hardpoints, the 2 wing tips are only for 2 air to air missiles which helicopters hardly ever use, SAAF does not have such missiles.

T-129 uses multiple racks on it's 4 hardpoints and it has missile pods for multiple many air to air missiles and extra gun pods, meaning the T-129 actually uses those 4 hardpoints to carry more weapons, missiles and guns than the Rooivalk. You see what we have been saying? Rooivalk is an obsolete design, a 1980s old war concept helicopter

They'll be diner for "anti-tank hunter teams".

Naa !

T-72 Tanks will use smoke dispensers to neutralize the laser guidance systems of all SANDF Ingwe anti-tank missiles.

Palmaria SPHA in direct fire mode will eat up all Ratel Ingwe launchers from 7 km away.

What anti-tank hunter teams do you have? Nigerian army infantry will be eating up your manpower shortage ridden troops, we have an army 3 times bigger, your tank hunters will be busy trying to survive after we surround your army completely in a circle, your ATGM won't even see the turret of a T-72, you won't get so close when your army is already encircles and gasping for breath....ZERO war experienced SANDF grin

Apparently not as much as your generals and defence ministry officials got buying fighter jets you are too mentally handicapped to fly.

“South Africa acquired three submarines that spend most of the time on the ‘hard’ at Simon’s Town and 50 BAE Hawk and BAE/Saab Gripen fighter aircraft for which the country had almost no pilots to fly them, mechanics to maintain them, or even the money to fuel them.

(Mail & Guardian [Johannesburg], April 21, 2012). Without money to operate sophisticated equipment, skilled staff continue to flee at the end of their enlistment and there is little opportunity for new recruits to train in skills useful in the civilian world. Parliament's Joint Standing Committee on Defense has described abuse of women in the SANDF as "common," adding that many female recruits have been impregnated by their instructors (BUAnews, November 26, 2011).

You are apparently good at impregnating female recruits. Good for you!!

Submarine that cannot do real combat, SAN is just a photo piece

And by state of the art, you mean 60 year old rust buckets!

This are real warships mate:

Old photos mate.

Today, Southie navy has ONLY ONE frigate and ONLY ONE submarine in operational. The rest are dead as cooked fish.

Over 50 years old, NNS Thunder is busy sailing around the continent and saving Africa from piracy while South African navy sits down at home redundant and lazy.

SANDF boasted it will patrol the whole Gulf Of Guinea this year and reach Nigerian waters, but almost 6 months into 2015 we have not even seen a South African canoe patrol up to Angola.

When we were wasting time debating that SAN gulf of Guinea patrol plan 2015 last year, I told @Patches it was a dream that will melt away like the candles you guys burn every night due to ESKOM's new rule of total darkness for all South Africans.

How can SAN use one frigate, one submarine, low fuel, to guard South Africa's massive U-shaped coastline of 3,000+ km and still patrol up to Ghana with same one warship, a frigate with delicate engine, not an endurance OPV....

Your South African military is a dwarf climbing ladder to play basketball !

Turks have an embargo on the french

Oh, you mean the whole military of Turkey was so illiterate that they did not know that Rooivalk had French engine since the news came out 20 years ago? So Turkey started evaluation before they asked...."Who makes the engine for this Rooivalk" ?

See Henry we fvcking told you - wait until more information is available before proclaiming it "the best tank in the world"

So far it has been in the public eye for just one day and allready we see that it has an unreliable engine, some form of transmission issues and its powerplant as a whole is insufficient for the vehical.

Yet again - like when you accused SAN of shooting at fishermen - you have egg on your face

I don't fall for western propaganda, many NATO equipment fail during early life.

It's a new tank. T-14 is still being tested for service and perfected . F-35 jet is an American equipment that has displayed many years of failure in it's most important role....stealth

Ancient source, disprove many times.

52 Hawks air-crew (more than 2 per plane) and 18 Gripen aircrew (14 Gripen operational), 22 000 flight hours budgeted for, Submarines are currently extensively used with multiple operations having been conducted this year (3 Major international operations) and with more next year

Its not 2012 anymore buddy.

In addition, three inshore patrol craft will be reactivated.

Medium term goals include the acquisition of the ex-US Coast Guard cutter USCGC Gallatin, the completion and commissioning of the first Chinese-built OPV and domestic assembly of the second Chinese OPV, commissioning of the second domestic Seaward Defence Boat, completion of the refit of NNS Brass and NNS Yola and the refit of the frigate NNS Aradu, the fast attack craft NNS Siri, Ayam and Damisa.
