So the people who MAKE the T129 and want to market it to potential clients will leave their website outdated?

Not out-dated, it's incomplete, it does not list gun/cannon as part of T-129 armament, meaning the helicopter has no gun !

Can you ever think at all? Dude?

Stop that rubbish here, Tomahawk missile is no longer nuclear .

Nuclear: W80 warhead (retired)
Conventional: 1,000 pounds (450 kg) High explosive or Submunitions dispenser with BLU-97/B Combined Effects Bomb or PBXN
.
It was retired sometime between 2010and 2013, the USS San Juan visited SA in 2009, so yes it had Nuclear capability at that time.

Like i've said to you on many occasions, i'm not going to have this debate with you. Sipri's position on the Nigerian military is clear.

The Nigerian Finance ministry is also clear. Sipri isn't Nigeria's finance ministry, and by their own admission, neither do they claim so.

"We are always searching for more information, but we only use open sources for our database. "..... Sipri.

Your e-mail is a hoax.

Official figures put your budget at $2 billion.

Furthermore:

A lack of investment in training, failure to maintain equipment and dwindling cooperation with Western forces has damaged Nigeria's armed services, while in Boko Haram they face an increasingly well-armed, determined foe.

"The Nigerian military is a shadow of what it's reputed to have once been," said James Hall, a retired colonel and former British military attaché to Nigeria. "They've fallen apart."

Military education is still taken very seriously, he said, but equipment and training to use it have been neglected, with radio equipment in particularly short supply.

Nigeria’s defence budget will drop from N364.2 billion ($2.3 billion) last year to N340.3 billion ($2.1 billion) in 2014 according to the Nigerian Budget Office – a 6.5% reduction in funding. Furthermore, the proposed budget drops defence from 12.1% of overall government spending to 7.8% between 2013 and 2014, according to IHS Jane’s Defence Weekly.

SIPRI Confirms
Janes Confirms.

Nigerian military is beyond broke!!!

Bwahahahaha grin grin It is actually the Southies and their Rooivalk obsolete junk metal being humiliated since Friday grin grin

More load in kilograms is not equal to more firepower, Rooivalk carries more payload than Apache, but the Apache has more firepower with more advanced weapons and targeting systems including a 30mm gun with 1,200 rounds of ammo, more firepower than Rooivalk 20mm gun with 700 rounds ammo. Payload is not = Firepower. PROVED !

Rooivalk carries more payload of obsolete weapons that are far LESS effective in modern combat compared to T-129 :

1. T-129 has 20mm x 3 barrel gun.....3 times more firepower than Rooivalk 20mm x 1 barrel gun

2. T-129 carries missile pods, a modern hardware for carrying more weapons on a single pylon, it can carry 8 air to air missiles. Rooivalk is obsolete with the wing tip concept of old times, only 2 air to air missiles, no missile pod technology.

3. T-129 carries laser guided rocket pods, meaning one single rocket from a pod of 24 rockets, is guided with precision laser on a target, meaning the T-129 only has to fire one rocket to k.ill one target, but the Rooivalk obsolete unguided rockets need to fire about 10 in a game of gamble and struggle to k.ill one target. Rooivalk has no laser guided precision rocket pod, it is obsolete.

4. T-129 can carry gun pods for two 30mm cannon in addition to three-barrel 20mm cannon on the nose, the Rooivalk cannot carry any extra gun pod, it only has one single barrel 20mm gun and very weak firepower. T-129 has many times more firepower than the weak Rooivalk.

5. T-129 can carry mixed weapons of different types on each pylon, modern technology weapons mix formula, see photo below....

A. four air to air missiles in missile pod
B. laser guided 20 rocket pod
C. four Anti-tank missiles
D. four air to surface missiles

The Rooivalk wil NEVER NEVER NEVER have the above firepower combination of the T-129.

T-129 would have finished successful combat and gone back home while Rooivalk is still struggling to find target and try hit something.

Surely you enjoy my research brother grin grin

NAF is pushing SAAF far behind by another 25 years o !

1. T-129 only carries 500 rounds for its gun, the Rooivalk carries 700. More munitions = more firepower. In terms of guns, Rooivalk has 1.4X more firepower.

2. [Citation needed]

3. And so? Rooivalk carries better ATGM's. And the T-129 can only carry 12 of such weapons

4. Two gun pods that cannot be aimed, forceing it to perform gun runs like a hind.

5. So can the Rooivalk.

Your T-129 is a lightweight Recon helicopter. Rooivalk is a heavyweight tank hunter... lets compare stats:

Lets compare:

T-129 maximum payload of ATGM's: 8
Rooivalk maximum payload of ATGM's: 16

T129 maximum payload of rockets: 12
Rooivalk maximum payload of rockets: 76

T129 gun ammunition: 500
Rooivalk gun ammunition: 700

T129 maximum weapons payload: 1,200kg
Rooivalk maximum weapons payload: 2000kg

It is obvious who has more firepower.

[s]Last time I checked, South Africa hired 60,000 Angolans and 1,000 Zimbabweans, Mozambicans as soldiers in direct combat to help you stop Cuban teenage girl soldiers from capturing Pretoria in broad daylight grin grin

No South African fired a bullet against Boko Haram.

5 South African PMC not SANDF soldiers, private company PMC men trained 120 Nigerian soldiers in mobility ops.

No South African militaray man, no SANDF troop has ever stepped into Nigeria to train anybody. PMC is NOT = SANDF.

I see Cuban mechanics inside SANDF base training your army to maintain the vehicles that you built, your own products grin grin

Did 5 men in PMC fight on a land mass equal to the size of Scotland?

Col. Eben Barlow confessed that the only job he did was to train 120 man mobile strike force of infantry men in MRAPS.

I have shown photos of Nigerian army and air force Generals doing ALL the war planning and frontline leading the troops into battle directly.

Col. Barlow said the whole war planning was a completely Nigerian army idea, work and success.

Did South Africans operate T-72, BVP-1 IFV, BTR-4E IFV, RM-70 MRLS, BOFORS FH-77, M-56 ARTY, PALMARIA ARTY, ATR-42, BEECHCRAFT ISTAR, F-7NI, ALPAH JET, MI-35 HIND, MI-171 TERMINATOR, AGL, MGL, BERYL, COBRA, VBL, IGIRIGI, VICKERS MBT, SHILKA AAA, CH-3 MISSILE DRONES.....

You can go argue with the people on Beegeagles blog if you wish.

Here is Nairaland, and I have said SAN has ONLY ONE operational submarine, you have no manpower to put more than one submarine into war.

Your sailors cannot connect simple submarine battery terminals in the right node, so how will they fire torpedo? grin grin

Nigeria has at least 2 Anti-submarine warfare helicopters in reserve, yes we can deal with your lone ranger submarine that has to snorkel after two days because it runs on diesel and battery.....the battery your sailors do not know how to connect properly.

Your Southie submarine will hit mud on seabed by poor sailor judgement even before Nigerian ASW helicopter decides to attack it grin grin
.

Helicopters in Reserve - no crew to operate them, no skills to operate them effectively.

Our sailors sunk a NATO task force - i think that they can handle your 50 year old fleet

2 Submarines are currently operational, if we wanted to we could have all 3 in the water.

You yourself proclaimed on Beegugug's blog that one South African sub would sink your entire fleet!! Now you deny your words? Hhahahah!! It shows, you are nothing but a troll on this forum!

[s]Nobody cares about long story of how war happened, the end is most important.

My Bible tells me that "Better is the end of a thing than the beginning of it".

Wanna be sarcastic? I know that game.

Last week the Holland celebrated the 70th anniversary of liberation from German army who captured the whole Netherlands in a few days of war and ruled the Dutch nation for years until 7,000 Canadian soldiers died to recapture Holland.

Mighty France was totally defeated in war by German army in a few weeks and France was ruled for years by German troops until America, Britain, Canada combined military might to invade France and free a world power from captivity.

Looks like the Europeans forget their own war history and make noise on BBC, Reuters, AFP about Nigeria losing partial control of some towns to Boko Haram, the whole of France, Holland, Poland etc were defeated and occupied by German army for many years and needed world powers to combine forces to free them.

Looks like the western world enjoys making a ridicule of the balck race, despite the fact that they have also suffered the same fate and cover it up. NATO is being disgraced out of Afghanistan after 13 years of failure with all their super power equipment and technology.

Nigeria can avoid losing towns by massive artillery bombardment of Boko Haram forces, but how do we level the enemy and level our own innocent civilians with artillery at the same time?

You think Nigerian military is senseless? No.

See our surgical strikes inside Sambisa forest, how we saved over 1,000 women and children from deep inside Boko Haram HQ captivity with very little civilian loss of life. That is world class army and air force capability displayed by Nigeria.

Still wonder why Israel and Egypt now love Nigerian army and sing our praises?
Last time I checked, Israel never praised American and British army performance in Afghanistan.

Nigeria won it's war at the end. That is all that matters.

Nigeria rules the world of armies, best performance 2015 worldwide. Nothing changes that dude ![/s]

Wrong information !

Rooivalk 20mm x 1 barrel gun = 139 mm total calibre firepower

T-129 20mm x 3 barrel gun = 306 mm total calibre firepower

PROVED : T-129 gun has more firepower than Rooivalk gun

Hey dude, Rooivalk does not carry 20 AAM and ATGM, it only carries 2 AAM on wing-tips only.

Rooivalk carries 16 ATGM maximum, T-129 also carries 16 ATGM.

Pods are modern advancement for helicopters, the Rooivalk is too old to carry any pods for guns or missiles, obsolete 1980s Bush war old idea.

Rooivalk carries ONLY ONE GUN....NO GUN PODS EXTRA.....T-129 carries 1 nose gun and can carry extra 4 gun pods on wing pylons.

T-129 carries missile pods 4 missiles per pod = 16 AAM.....One single T-129 will sh.oot down the whole SAAF fleet of 11 Rooivalks in 5 minutes

T-129 beats Rooivalk with superior T-129 firepower, avionics, and weapons mix combinations
.

"total caliber firepower?" What is that?

Rushing to spinning before researching?

A 105mm howitzer is the biggest caliber of a weapon mounted on an aircraft.

Where are you getting that 309m? Your helicopter will crash cause of recoil grin grin grin grin grin I'd..iot.

T129:

Caliber: 20mm
Cartridge:20 x 102mm

Rooivalk:

Caliber: 20mm
Cartridge: 20 x 139mm.

The T129 carries 12 ATGM compared to the Rooivalk's 16.

Pods aren't modern the Rooivalk prototype carried pods in the 90s.

Superiority demonstrated!

"inventory but 12 are in “rotational” storage and only 18 Gripen navigators and pilots have been trained to operational status. Which begs the question: what should we do with aircraft we don’t need and can’t afford to operate?

The solution could be a simple one: sell off the 12 Gripens in storage (since we won’t miss them anyway) and use the money for fuel, pilot training and new equipment that the Air Force desperately needs - its C-130 Hercules fleet is ageing and the Air Force is increasingly forced to rely on charters to move people and equipment to places like the Democratic Republic of Congo, while the SAAF’s maritime surveillance C-47TPs are more than half a century old and suffering from attrition.

While the C-47TPs and C-130s are working extremely hard and are in urgent need of replacement, the Gripens are grossly underutilised. Since 2008 the Gripen fleet has flown 3 500 hours, according to a SAAF official, equating to roughly 135 hours per airframe or roughly 20 hours per aircraft per year, or less than two hours per aircraft per month.

Maintenance for the Gripens has also been problematic - "

Henry120, the sub that was completely out IS the one that spent 7 years in dock.

What does posting an opinion peice have to do with the discussion? A flawed opinion peice - the Grip flew over 800 hours in 2012 alone.

On the Nigerian military operations against boko-haram, Nigeria used to experience an almost weekly boko-haram bombings in the Northern part of the country, and down south to gboko in benue state (although benue is considered a North-central state in Nigeria).

So, these states, and the FCT were not spared. Borno, yobe, adamawa, kano, kaduna, Gombe, kogi, sokoto, Niger, plateau, Jigawa, FCT (Abuja), benue. 13 states plus the FCT.

Nigerian security forces successfully raided boko-haram cells in all these areas and restricted their activities to only 3 states (Borno, yobe and Adamawa). This is success by any standard. The military and intelligence services effectively contained this threat for 5 years, until the current setback.

Current setback only began 6 - 10 months ago, after the JTF was disbanded, the 7th Division created and former COAS was retired .

In that period, the President of Nigeria, GEJ, consistently asked for international support to the Nigerian military, support in dealing with SALW proliferation and terrorism in the sahel region.

On many occasions, Nigerian military chiefs asked for EDA's(MRAPs, COIN equipment) and intelligence support from the Americans and were flatly denied. The Americans made multiple statements about their support to Nigeria in the media, and actually did nothing on the ground.

So the comment about President GEJ doing nothing till the elections approached is plain ignorant!

Groups like boko-haram are not defeated once and for all, as can be seen by the number of countries currently engaging ideology based groups. It just doesn't happen. However they can be contained, and that is what the Nigerian military is currently doing.

*The old SADF might have been experienced in dealing with ANC affiliated groups, but they currently have no experience of how modern day COIN works.

Plus the current crop of SANDF troops are made up of a bunch of ill-trained, ill-experienced bush men/ ANC fighters, who have no idea of how the modern battle field works.

Their abysmal defeat in the CAR is enough evidence of the ineptitude of the SANDF.

1. How was CAR a defeat? What objective did we fail?
2. How is 200 men being pushed back by 4000 abysmal?

Henry120... I just dont understand.

It is a part of Finmeccanica SpA.

You operate Super Pumas, they are your primary medium lift Helicopters.

Go ask De klerk.

Oryx =/= Super Puma

Wrong information !

Rooivalk 20mm x 1 barrel gun = 139 mm total calibre firepower

T-129 20mm x 3 barrel gun = 306 mm total calibre firepower

PROVED : T-129 gun has more firepower than Rooivalk gun
