I am waiting. This one was taken in December and Frank just posted some pics of Upper Iweka few days ago and they were still as this. I really don't know what some of you people wants to achieve by lying here.

I want to see opposite of these pics as u claimed.

U purposely took pics of littered drainage to prove ur point but as far as am concerned that is not dirt because when u visit some other states what u will see are heaps of garbages and that has gone away in Onitsha long time ago.

By the way how did the burial go?

I don't have any problem with anybody, their problem started when I said that Awka is the Dubai of East after Frank posted the pictures. Is that a competition with anybody? What I said is what I felt it is and that is what it is- Dubai of the East.

I don't care how anybody feels about that but I will maintain that stance.

On a side note: Awka is a huge construction site right now it is expected that dust will cover most part of it due to heavy construction going on there on 3 flyovers and other roads.

THE lack or absence of basic infrastructures, such as functional health facilities, technical education in schools that equips a child to take off in life without facing frustration for lack of requisite trainings and skills for gainful employment in the industry, amongst other key issues, have been found to impede the willingness of citizens to support state government’s efforts to raise revenue, even in this time of dwindling accruals from the oil sector.
This was discovered at a public dialogue on the reasons why citizens resist supporting revenue drives by the Anambra State government in the time of dwindling oil revenue.

The dialogue, organised by the Civil Rights Concern (CRC), a non-governmental organisation, at the Suncity Exclusive Hotels in Awka, noted also that many foreign investors were actually not attracted to the state because of lack of substantial pool of requisite skills and manpower needed to set up their businesses and industries.
It was also discovered that many youths, who were derailing, could actually be recovered through vocational education and training in technical skills and become assets to government.

Other findings include unharmonised taxes, such that different levels of government were always coming to ask for taxes and revenue from businesses on the same subject matter;
increasing cost of goods, specifically resulting from devalued naira, which is affecting sales and income; many businesses disrupted by the construction of the Second Niger Bridge, especially those at Habour Industrial Estate, who have no incomes now and nothing has been done by the government to assist them either by compensation or resettlement.

Others are high development levy demanded by government agents and arbitrary rate of increment tax assessment of businesses, as people do not know how they are assessed and what the rate of increment would be the following year; SMEs not assisted by government’s poor attitude in fulfilling its promises to enable them access the approved Bank of Industry (BOI) loan to members whose applications were successful, many of the SMEs are fully equipped with modern machines but lacked working capital are wasting, yet government is hoping to increase its IGR; among many others.

According to the National Coordinator of CRC, Okey Onyeka, the organisation works in partnership with Christian Aid Nigeria, with support from DFID in Voice to the People Project, JDPC Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi and the national partners consisting of Centre LSD and Development in Practice production.

The stakeholders commended the government for steps taken so far in increasing the IGR and improving on processes of governance.

It equally held that there was still much to be done to improve the environment, positively assisting SMEs and increasing repository of skills in the state that could attract investors.

This, it held, remained the sure path to improve the state’s IGR and support of the people to government.

Vocational skills are needed if you expect foreign industries to keep coming into state....Skills like certified welders, heavy equipment operators like crane operator, bulldozers, tractor and trailer drivers, maintenance engineer , machinist,Upholstery, shoemaking, construction technicians and so forth. We need to train more people that will qualify and match the workforce that the economic boom will bring. I like the fact that Obiano is thinking in this direction but we need world standard trade school where these people will be nurtured and made. In New York for instance,a certified carpenter with a certificate makes up to $40 dollars per hour. These are some very important skilsl that will alleviate our people from poverty. University education is not for everybody and certainly not a sure way to success and even so, 60% of Nigeria can't afford quality education if we upgrade.

Anambra need a serious thinktank group that will featuring in TV and radio stations discussing how things are done in contemporary societies.

Most of ABS featured programs here are missing a lot of ingredients, nobody has made case for tourism in Anambra, do you know that Nwangene Lake at the heart of Onitsha can be refilled and erect skyscrapers facing the River Niger and Asaba.
We need to develop that lake by mapping it out for skyscrapers that will be housing major offices in Anambra State.

Do you know the Nwangene Lake

Yes its because Nigeria leaders are not innovative they don't know way out of their plights.

Anambra should invest in technical and vocational education, I made a case for a poly in Onitsha and Nnewi but someone rejected it.

Technical and vocational education are bluecollar in their outlook and Anambra people being innovative and ingenious need so such to thrive instead of waiting for foreign investors to come.

Many countries have better climates for businesses and investments but the only thing Nigeria has is big market advantage.
We need to think about technical and vocational education, polytechnics and monotechnics should come into it, that Metallurgy Training Institute in Onitsha should be expanded to accommodate many students, Anambra deserve a steel company and oil servicing firms.

These are common infrastructures found everywhere.

I should be ashamed if someone from my side talks about contraction of fly-over and pedestrians.

Lagos state has LSPDC that build Estates and collect rents, why can Anambra do such and develop that Nwangene Lake into a thriving business and tourism hub sourrounded by markets.

I rejected that poly thing for Onitsha and nnewi strictly because because there are a whole lot of polytechnics around the country but still the results are the same..i don't believe in name anymore and just tagging a school polytechnic does not automatically change the quality of products...if the metallurgical institution in Onitsha is well run I dont it matters what name it is called..yes anambra and I suspect abia too need a whole of centers for skill acquisition because of the nature of the people and economy of their states...not everyone would acquire a university degree..not everyone is even cut out for that..looking at some people I know that rushed to enter university I just shake my head because they have no biz being there..look at a country like Germany where skill acquisition centers seem to outnumber their universities..as for steel companies or oil servicing firms that is for the private sector to do although I suspect that oil servicing firms sooner than later might spring up around that aguleri axis

Thanks for buying into my idea.

That lake need to be sandfilled and erect skyscrapers overlooking the Niger River.

Its very unfortunate the vision is not dear, our leaders ar just busy planning politics of supremacy and PHD without any plan to develop the hinterland.

Skycrapers cannot be too much for Anambra if the dreams and visions were to be there, on its viability and sustenance they will be very lucrative because all the offices coming to Anambra will take that place as our CBD like Marina and Balogun in Lagos Niger Street and Main Market have simialr setting to position Onitsha to an important and contemporary city with global appeal.

We need skyscrapers at Nwangene Lake, CCECC can handle that very affordable and fast cum stunning execution of projects

the thing is does lspdc build skyscrapers?just asking because to me building it is much less a problem than maintaining it..skyscrapers I see in Lagos are usually built by corporations and multinationals or extremely wealthy individuals that have outfits..another thing you have to consider is does onitsha have a whole lot of white collar job outfits to occupy those skyscrapers?

The reason why I recommended poly is because of our so much sentimental attachement to tertiary education, those poly could be skill acquisition centers rather than what we have today.
That a Federal government poly failed to impart in Nigeria development does not mean if Anambra State ran hers well it will not impart.

So since oil have no impart on oil economy does it mean Anambra will allow Kogi to take her resources, that there were global financial crisis in 2008 does not mean banks will be hiring traders and ordinary businessmen and women to run the banks because their businesses did not suffer.

What Anambra need is quality education, practicalize everything before the students, reduce the rate Omanbala graduate leave Anambra State to other states and outside the country, stop politics of supremacy and PHD, curb flamboyant lifestyles and pomposity of some of us, Anambra kids need to be taught to be Omanbala conscious and believe in their state.

Its disheartening that some places without economic activities are getting more attention than those that need it, go to Nnewi and cry for our dear state.

1st of all we need more vocational schools than theoretical schools as the theoretical schools have only created unemployable graduates who cannot even employ themselves.

LSPDC build housing Estates and collect the rent as well as maintain the Estates, if Anambra properties and development coy can build skyscrapers and collect the rent and still oversee the maintenance of the buildings they are all the same.

Anambra economy need to evolve, I don't know if our governor and his cronies have vision to reposition Anambra economy to balance between formal and informal sector.

ANSG is yet to organize an economic summit in the state, what has the government done to make whitecollar jobs to start coming in, the state still collect taxes and levies openly without digitalizing it, look at our cities with billboards, signposts and posters everywhere littering the cities, churches, hospitals and schools are in residential buildings.

AnSG should embrace digital lifestyle completely, open Onitsha and Nnewi for more education facilities to penetrate.
