Naval warships of modern times have sea+air search radar, a jet at low level will be detected. Nigeria has such radars.
To avoid detection jets approached at low altitude.

Exocet is guided by seeker, fire and forget. Decoys defeated Exocet in war history.
Late seeker activation.

A lot has changed since the Falklands war.

It can be guided in different ways.

Like the A-Darter has an IR seeker but can be guided by the jet's radar.

Nigeria strong arm SA, embarrass SA in world stage and force SA to bow down to Nigeria's superior politico-diplomatic power. allafrica.com/stories/201411241856.html By J.K. Obatala
AFTER a protracted political struggle with
South Africa, over its controversial exclusion
from the pioneering and much vaunted
Square Kilometre Array (SKA), Nigeria has
finally emerged victorious.

Professor S. O. Mohammed, director general
of the National Space Research and
Development Agency (NASRDA), announced
Wednesday, during the opening ceremony

Nigeria's participation in the world's
biggest ever radio astronomy project was

Bwaahahaha grin grin This guy does not know combat with heavy equipment.

Shilka is mobile vehicle, it can drive around to attack threat from any position and the gun turret is 360 degrees rotation and fire on the move.

35 mm gun on valour frigate is fixed and carrot move around, then it cannot fire backwards if the bomb is dropped in front of the ship, the 35mm gun will need to fire on the Valour frigate structures itself if it turns fully backwards to face the front of the ship !

Your 35mm gun is stuck, fixed ONLY at the back of the ship.

Next your 35mm gun CANNOT shoot straight up, the maximum elevation is only 85 degrees, it CANNOT shoot straight up, it must slant.

I told you that you know NOTHING about sea warfare.

See your Valour frigate 35mm gun photo below, when that gun turns fully backward to hit target, it will blow up the Valour frigate grin grin
.
Do you know where on the frigate the 35mm dual purpose system is mounted?

And yes it can rotated like any other CIWS.

It would seem you're the one doesn't know a thing.

Pic 1: Vertical feild of fire
Pic 2: Horizontal feild of fire
Pic 3: Formation employed by Valour Class to provide over-lapping feilds of fire and 100% cover from missile/bomb attack

Now, if you will look past these hasty and rather crude mock-ups ( a simple proof of concept I drew up in 5 min)

You will see that a formation of 3 Valour Class can provide 100% supporting fire to each other completeing a perfect anti-air umbrella

Use of data-links allows the Valour Class to co-ordinate fire-patterns. This means that if one bomb is dropped, it will be facing 3300 rounds per minute of AHEAD ammunition.

I meant to say 35mm Denel gun.

1. SAN/SANDF has no CRAM munitions today

2. Your 35mm gun has use of ordinary ammo NOT CRAM, it is a dual purpose gun and is able to use both ammo, but since you have no CRAM ammo, it uses ordinary shells.

Your own 35mm gun is limited in capacity and needs the bomb to be exactly at a position towards the back of the ship or side ways also towards the back. Your gun is technically defective in operational positioning.

#Trap-Dismantled By Nigeria
.
Both ammo? grin grin grin grin grin

What is ordinary and CRAM ammo?

Maybe that's because ships are attacked from the sides.

People this guy has serious mental issues soon he'll be telling us since naval guns can't fire 180 degrees behind so they're "technically defective in operational positioning."

Guess what! Other CIWS(s) like the Goalkeeper, Phalanx etc have a similar operating envelope.

In fact one frigate can fire a missile and then the other warship guide it.

A Lynx helicopter can also be used to guide missiles.

Don't even entertain this whole bomb rubbi..sh.

Emotional? You are obsessed with it!!

1. Rooivalk was cut because the size and budget of the SANDF was cut. FACT

2. You have provided ZERO evidence to support these claims

3. And yet they competed, and yet the Rooivalk outperformed them

How is the A-129 better than the Rooivalk? Yet again, you say its better, but are unable to say how or why.

I know why you say its better - because of your jealous obsession with the Rooivalk. It burns your guts that we have made such a fantastic platform, and you will do anything in your power to undermine it.

Henry, the capabilities of the Rooivalk have been laid out for all on this forum to see. The age of the systems that provide these capabilities is irrelevant when your own attack helicopters dont have said capabilities and when said capabilities are comparable to systems such as the Apache, Z-10, ATAK, HAL, KA-50/52 et al.

So I recommend you do the following before continuing your pathetic assault on the Rooivalk:

1. Aquire a system that has similar or better capabilities than the Rooivalk
2. Design and build an attack helicopter in Nigeria

Until you have done the two above, you have no right nor any standing to comment on the Rooivalk.

What is happening right now is a poor man sitting in a VW polo is insulting a rich man sitting in a Mercedes Benz C-class by saying that his C-Class is not as good as a brand new C-class - yet - the poor man forgets that he himself drives a sh1tty polo

I feel a great deal of pity for you South-Africans, stuck with an obsolete Helicopter isn't really a fun place to be in 2015.

- The Half-French AH was cut because the Apartheid government could not afford them. Hence the order for 32 dropped to a paltry 12.

- The U.K, Australia, Turkey, Malaysia all rejected the Helicopter. I've posted sources which show these countries rejected the AH.

- In an open bid, any company is free to submit proposal. There isn't a law against that. However, the Turks wanted a Helicopter they could build at home, neither Boeing or EADS was going to provide that. So realistically only your Half-french AH and the A-129 were realistically in a competition.

The A-129 roundly trounced the half-french AH, as expected.

- Turkish rejection of your Half-french AH despite Denel putting all they hard into the completion is enough evidence of the A-129's superiority over the obsolete Half-French Rooivalk.

South-Africa did not build any Helicopter, so what should i be jealous of?

You Assemble a French Helicopter....... Congratulations, Nigeria also assembles and make components for Trainers and the A109.

South-Africa got all dynamic systems, engines, components , sub-components from the Super-Puma, aloutte III

The Half-french is an Obsolete Helicopter running on 30 years old computers.

The Rooivalk has 30 years old obsolete avionics.

It’s been given a slight upgrade, incorporating “modifications to the weapons systems, avionics and airborne systems”.

reportedly hailed by all who have flown it. It is also ideal for operations in Africa.

But its avionics system, a magnificent achievement for local industry when it was developed and integrated in the late 1980s, is today as obsolete as a dinosaur’s brain.

This is a key reason in Denel’s failure to export the aircraft. No one will buy a warplane whose avionics system is based on 30-year-old computers.

Henry

Your "citations" are one outdated opinion piece and one Janes artical that you interpreted in a very particular way and that at the same time can be interpreted in a very different way by others.

As usual, you have made a big fuss by reposting the same trash over and over again.

The age of sub-systems is irrelevant when they provide capabilities that YOUR platforms do not have and when those capabilities match those of platforms such as the ATAK

Our "obsolete" Rooivalk is still better than your brand new Hind M... is that why you are so desperate to attack the Rooivalk? Is it the fact that we build better platforms than you can afford to buy?

Your complete and utter obsession (you have dedicated a whole week of your life to the Rooivalk) demonstrates that you have some major emotional hangups over the platform.

Again, I say:

1. Buy a platform with similar or better capabilities to the Rooivalk
2. Design and built an attack helicopter with simular capabilities to the Rooivalk

Then you can comment on the Rooivalk. You have not earned the right to critique it, no basis for attacking it - you can pull it down all you want, it is still better than anything in your arsenal and decades ahead of anything in Southern Africa

And that, is what is important.

I don't need to pull down your obsolete Half-French AH, after all, the Helicopter has been doing a pretty good job of it, on it's own, thus far.

The Janes and Engineeringnews sources are all clear, they were all unanimous in their verdicts, the Rooivalk is an obsolete Helicopter which has no place in today's battlefield. It is a walking dinosaur.

A Helicopter running on 30 years old computers cannot be considered as modern, by any stretch of the word......... it is archaic and ancient hence it has been roundly rejected.

And you in turn have dedicated a whole week in defending a failed project..... congratulations are in order.

The MI-35M Hind E is simply described as having modern state of the art avionics and systems. It's proven performance and sales is all the guarantees I need.

-We have the Hind E, we are also in the process of acquiring the T-129.

- your second question is better directed at South-Africa, first build a Helicopter. Renaming a French Helicopter doesn't suddenly make it South-African.

As you have accused, my basis for "attacking" the Half-french Rooivalk are based on it poor capabilities as an attack helicopter. Turkey, UK, Australia, Malaysia all seem to agree with me........ Apparently same as the SAAF who only have 10 in active service.
