This isn't about saying "RIP", People should be held accountable for this. What caused the tank to fall? Is it bad road? Then hold the government for it. Is it from the fault of the tank? Then hold the company for it. BTW which company is the tank conveying fuel from? Come to think of it, these are the same people boasting of how they have so much fuel even in scarcity and now that abundance fuel is what roasted many.

In better countries, rigorous trainings and driving experience are equired before one can drive a vehicle that transports harzadous material..

But in Nigeria, anything goes.

Sad....knowing that this type tragedy can be easily prevented. At the moment...tankers must move the fuel on the same heavily used roads. I hope the new gov't makes it a priority to review safety regulations regarding these tankers and drivers and above all....make sure they are strictly enforced. This been going on too long.

This is the problem the past Govt brought to these innocent families what else can I say, if our refineries are working to full capacity we won't have such tragic accidents,we have more than twenty depots across nigeria where these tankers lift petroleum products, but these mindless past PDP govt did not allow it to work.

the problem of this tankers always falling at onitsha is because of the bad roads they av.over lng the governor their cn nt look onto it. tanker wil fall nd cactch fire that was wht made my family an average man 2day because my family was a victim on such nt the first time i was small then. pls government need to look onto that to save the life of people too. Onitsha people av bn living in a bad road over lng of governorship. Wht thet always do is to b touching only the federal road they av and nt in fullway, where they are more roads tankers nd others uses, bad governor made me poor nd i wl never forget that incident anyway tnk God no body in my familu died bt didnt come out wit any single pin from the huz.

jeez! that's awful. ANSG as a matter of urgency should ban tankers conveying gas, cement or fuel. perhaps, the park should be moved out of that spot, is not worth it . and hold the company responsible..

Fianze93:
Its Thanksgiving for my family, Read my cousin's account of the incidence,

A BLOODY SUNDAY

I can't stop crying, my eyes soaked with tears as a long vehicle carrying a tanker of fuel speed pass me. It was on a Sunday afternoon 31st of may 2015 around 3.00pm. The sun was smiling at me, the weather was great, I was standing right there in front of TRACAS park Onitsha paying for the transport fair as the tanker speed pass me on a very close range with a mind blowing horn. My heart skipped in shock. His brake failed him, i thought in my mind and i was right. Not so far from where i was standing(around peace park) the tanker fall down and crushed people along with him. "Oh my God it was not long i passed through that place" i cried out. I was still shouting when i heard a loud noise... The worst have happened, the tanker just bursted into flames and many buses in the park have joined the flame. People shout and screaming in pain as the fire burn through them without mercy. Right before my very eyes a bus was carrying man whose skin have turned white by the flame... Shouts of cry, shouts of flame shouts of pain... It was still like a James BonD movie to me and i was wishing it to be a dream or even a movie but it wasn't. Can't thank God enough. Who am i that he cares for me. An imperfect being like ME, but he still takes his time to care for me.

GIFTED ZENITH... THANK YOU JESUS

This remains the bane of Nigeria's huge problems. When people start to think they are lucky, protected by some god, are special or have special considerations, they become lame about doing things, effecting change or generally speaking loud and vehemently against a cruel government with no regard for human lives. Why do we have to go down this route?
Bro, you are no special. You are human after all, just as any of those poor souls roasted in that inferno. You are no special, you are no different. It could have been easily you, in which case we would have been spared this self-aggrandizing bullshhhhit!

Those poor souls were not unlucky. Neither are you so specially favoured by so-called god. Government has failed each of every single Nigerian, and that's where we should start out when talking.
