Let's have some discussion, what strategy do work for you in the stock market?

Below are the one i adopted from Kelvin O'leary...

The bearish trend in the market shouldn't allow us to ignore this simple formula of stock markets pattern, which i adopted from chairman of O'Leary Funds. The 3 simple formula are as follows:

* Never invest in a security or stock that doesn't pay a dividend or interest.
* Always save a consistent portion of your income.
* Spend the interest, never the principal.

In summary, the 3 formula can be said to be "One should keep making money while you wait"! All contributions are welcome...

I disagree with the first tip. Sometimes its better to invest in stock that can fetch you capital growth (for long term investors) rather than a paltry dividend payout that may even be diluted after the dividend closure date.

Sir, i understand the point you are trying to make. Remember the stock that doesn't pay dividend are speculative in nature and you can only make a kill on it if only you have the right information about it, in the right position, and at an appropriate time. So that point is very vital to the new investors coming into the market.

I buy stock based on intuition, and history, I also watch the market and what everybody is saying abt a stock, when dem go right, I go oppt/left...
See unity bank today, most stock lost today but Unity bank gained...signs some big boyz are looking at it.
see Vitafoam, i entered the first time saibuhari mentioned it and JO when i got 46%, by the second coming of saibuhari I did not !! grin

Let tell ourselves the truth. (1). The immediate past administration was rated with high rate of corruption, in all sectors. (2) Most of the public own companies were sold and bought back by the same people and their loyalist thinking that government will last till next 50 years. (3). A lot of illegality in both oil sector and banking sector, with high rate of manipulation in the stock exchange market. NOW WE TALK ABOUT CHANGE (1) all the misdeed/corruption of last administration will not be accommodated by this adminissation, the remaining bad agents of the past administration will be trace and will be remove. (2) on the contrary, their government did not last, and what they allocated to themselves will be retrieve back, and this process will negatively affect the stock exchange. (3). There is every possibility that mr president will combine his office with that of ministry of petroleum, illegality in the banking sector will be checkmate, manipulation in the Nigeria stock exchange will be a thing of the past. NOTE, all these process to bring Nigeria to a better position will force the stock to fall, and it has started, but after all these measures been taken Nigeria Stock will bounce back with a better and trusted position.

Market might not pick soon as most people anticipate, bear might be present for some time, and after that we might experience slow movement. (from what I experience within these few days, during the trading section, is like some companies are using this opportunity to sell their outstanding shares) we should be better trade with caution, better still cash is king.

Sir, C I Leasing might rally not because of the dividend but because they want to raise money sooner, and because... grin. Remember, your personal decision is final!
