OGA MIKRON!!! You are the boss... Our 'SUPER' FLYING EAGLES ARE BACK... I predicted 10-0 but you predicted 4-0 (u said, in one of ur posts, '...nothing less than 4gls...') and YOU WERE SPOT ON!!!
Honestly, had we scored in da 1st half, it wud hv been much much more but all da same, Thank GOD!... It's still a BIG WIN!
Hahahahahahahaha... Well done Godwin Savior. Great work Kingsley Sokari. Excellent leadership 'Robocop' Musa Muhammed. Idowu showed why he played every single game 4 Nigeria at uae 2013 and senegal 2015(he's the guy with 8 lungs, in fact). Isaac 'the beast' Success, YOU ARE INDEED THE MAN!
Awoniyi weighed in with 2 assists, nice one, BUT he nids to step up his finishing and goal conversion rate asap. I guess the pressure/tension got to him as did others in the first half (IF NOT EH! NA '10' Korea for carry go back to their hotel today. But like I told Sir Lardy96, the bag korea take bring today dey too small to contain 10 gls. It cud only take 4... *big smiles*).

Alrite!!! Watch out World! THE SUPER FLYING EAGLES LED BY THE INSPIRATIONAL AND NO NONSENSE MANU GARBA-LED TECHNICAL CREW ARE BACK IN THE HUNT! We're in full flight! And we no dey laugh or smile at all!

I feel is the other way around. If the pitch is wide, you need Natural wingers because they reach the attack by crossing the ball. That covers the distance. In a narrow pitch, it suits an inverted winger because he is closer to the post and does not need to run a long distance to shoot.

Remember Henry when he joined Arsenal at Highbury. The pitch was small and Narrow. Henry had a swell time there.

I get your point. But remember Arsenal had full backs like Lauren and Ashley Cole who added width to the attack while Viera and Silva holds back for them. Musa and Mustapha have not been able to give that and while Idowu did a great job today, the full backs were not exceptional in their end-products

And if you want someone in the mould of Henry, then Awoniyi should be dropped for Isaac success

I agree, but I think manu made changes to teach them a lesson.

But we need a mix of defensive strength and offensive decisiveness.

You remember I said it when you posted the team list that we need a balance between defence and attack? Thank God Korea capitulated. I think iheanacho and Success for Bulbwa and Awoniyi will add bite to the attack while Idowu helps the defense

Brazil is Back
1-1 vs Hungary

It seems that the Brazilian coach is a Great second half strategist. Barely 5 minutes into the Game and they scored!

Brazil is good but NOT THAT GOOD. Make we catch them again... As for the Hungarians, let them keep flattering themselves with the scoreline. NAIJA GO HUMBLE THEM! Infact, we go deactivate the satiety center in their hypothalamus to kill off the 'hunger' in them... WATCH OUT! *big smiles*

I was mightily pissed at savior Godwin in the first half, twisting and turning and getting nowhere, possibly has not gotten into his groove. Sokarihas great shots but needs more accuracy in shooting and passing. Musa's crosses still needs a lot of working on, but his freekicks area beauty.

Success has no mate in this tournament amongst the strikers, he is really the beast. These kids are too kiddy to stop him. He just needs the passes. I think the guys that have played real pro football should be brot in. I want to see moses simon on the left. I don't think success and simon has any jitters. They are way past this level. Iheanacho should come back. Akinjide should be retained.

So if this game ends 1-1(most likely) and Nigeria wins/draws Hungary, all 3 teams could go forward, right?

This whole scenario remubds me of our U18 group.

1st game- Nigeria(Brazil) wins, Mexico(Nigeria)loses and Sweden(Hungary) wins

2nd game- Nigeria draws.Mexico wins *and Sweden draws

3rd game- perhaps the same pattern? With Mexico(Nigeria) grabbing a win against a Swedish(Hungarian) side that looked sturdy against the team that they lost to in the opening game

Our third match is going to be TOUGH!!!
We need strikers who are going to be experienced and always convert their chances no matter how few. (Success and Moses)

We need midfielders who will not overlap unnecessarily (idowu).

We need defenders who won't allow the hungry Hungarian strikers have any breathing space.

We need a goal keeper who won't surmount to the pressure of a must win last game!

That is false. Not all goals are mistakes. Sokari's goal was not from a mistake. Success two goals have been well worked.

Brazil did not have to do anything special to score. Our defending was shambolic.

Nigeria get into gear against Korea DPR

A spirited second-half display saw Nigeria get their FIFA U-20 World Cup back on the rails as the romped to a 4-0 win over Korea DPR.

After weathering a tight first-half, An Ye Gun's side went to pieces after the break as a quick-fire brace from Saviour Godwin undid all that good work. A fine final two goals secured all three points for Nigeria and put them back in the mix for qualification from Group E.

Manu Garba's team almost put their disappointing second-half against Brazil behind them inside the opening two minutes. Captain Musa Muhammed looked to lead by example as he struck a thunderbolt of a shot off the inside of the post from 25 yards, for which keeper Cha Jong Hun was only an airborne spectator.

From there, though, Korea DPR improved for a spell. They contained the threat of Nigeria and had occasional forays forward, but were ultimately blunt in attack. The Flying Eagles looked more menacing as the half wore on.

Taiwo Awoniyi and Bernand Bulbwa threatened, before a Muhammed free-kick and Awoniyi follow-up brought out a superb double save from Jong Hun in a half in which he was busy, but rarely tested to his limits.

The second half saw all that change, as the Korea DPR goalkeeper spoiled what had been an impressive display. His misjudgement to come and challenge Saviour Godwin for a Bulbwa cross saw the Asian side lose their foothold, as Godwin scored.

It only took the same player just three minutes to double his tally, after a lucky ricochet allowed Awoniyi to skilfully progress up the field before playing in the FC Sports forward, who coolly slotted through legs of defender and goalkeeper.

The third was a peach. A corner found its way out to Kingsley Sokari and his laser-guided shot from the edge of the area screamed into the top left corner. The final one wasn't bad either, following a slick team move. Awoniyi and substitute Success Isaac's exchanged passes sliced through the Korea DPR defence before the latter slammed home from a tight angle to revive the African champions' last 16 hopes.

MANU WOULD HAVE LOVED MORE GOALS VS KOREA

Nigeria's Flying Eagles coach Manu Garba has regretted his team did not run up the scores despite thrashing North Korea 4-0 on Thursday to get their U20 World Cup campaign back on track.

The winners and runners-up in Group E could well be decided on goals difference after Hungary trounced the North Koreans 5-1 on the opening day and Brazil are expected to massacre the Asians on Sunday in Christ Church.

“I would have loved that we won this game (vs Korea) by six, seven goals,” lamented Manu after his team had to rely on a second-half rally to win at the Stadium Taranaki.

“All the same, the victory was most important for us.

“And on Sunday our final group game against Hungary will be a must-win.”

The coach said a pep talk at half time got his team firing away at North Korea after they failed to hit target in the first 45 minutes despite creating numerous chances.

“We played with one striker in today’s match so that it would allow the other players to move into the channels. They did not do that in the first half. But after we spoke to them during the interval, they did the job in the second half,” explained the coach.

“All we needed was the first goal and then the other goals followed.”

He praised the Koreans for stepping up their game after they fell 5-1 to Hungary on Monday.

“They gave a good account of themselves, they were lo better than they were against Hungary as they possessed the ball very well, but they have to improve in their finishing,” he remarked.

Bosso thumbs up F/Eagles

Former Flying Eagles head coach, Ladan Bosso is quite elated at the side’s five-star performance against Korea Democratic Peoples Republic.

The nation’s campaigners at the ongoing Fifa Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand whipped the Asian representatives 4-0 on Thursday at Stadium Taranaki, New Plymouth.

Brace from striker, Saviour Godwin and goal each from forwards, Kingsley Sokari and substitute, Isaac Success proved adequate to hand Nigeria the maximum three points at stake.

Bosso said Flying Eagles are back strongly to the driver’s seat to qualification to the next round of the competition by going all out to rout the Hungarians.

“First and foremost, I want to say big congratulations to Nigerians for the wonderful result raked in by the Flying Eagles against their Korean opponents.

“Right now qualification to the next stage of the competition is in our hands, we must go all out to beat Hungary in the last group game on Sunday in Taranaki, New Plymouth.

“I told everybody who cared to listen after the 2-4 loss to Brazil that the side shouldn’t be written off and they have proved their worth with the demolition of Koreans.

“I know Nigeria is at their very best whenever they are facing the wall and right now I must charge the side not to relent in their effort.

“The win against Korea DPR has given the side plus two goal difference so let see what happens to the clash between Brazil and Hungary.

“However, the key for our qualification is right there in our hands and that is going all out to defeat Hungary in the last match.

“The side potential won’t be used up in the group matches as I see them go that far to challenge for the title.

“Once again congratulations to Nigerians and the entire team for a wonderful performance,” said the head coach of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Abia Warriors to supersport.com.

Nigeria will engage Hungary on Sunday at the Stadium Taranaki in New Plymouth for the group last decisive clash.

It's a surprise. The two assists were incredible. Not many players can muster that at that age.

TWO-GOAL STAR SAVIOUR CAN DO MORE SAYS COACH MANU

Nigeria's two-goal hero against North Korea at the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand Godwin Saviour is capable of far bigger things, according to his coach.

After a scoreless first half, Saviour, 18, finally got the Flying Eagles going on Thursday against the resolute North Koreans with goals in the 47th and 50 minutes.

Coach Manu Garba said the hard working forward from Nigeria National League side Plateau United can do a lot more than he showed inside the Stadium Taranaki in a must-win Group E match.

Saviour starts against North Korea

“He did well during our training tour of Germany, but I tell you he was not at his best even today. He was on the squad when we won the FIFA U17 World Cup two years ago and I know he can do far more,” said the coach.

“He shoots very well with both legs, has the energy to also cover up when the attack has broken down.

“I am very happy for him to have scored two goals, that can only boost his confidence to do more.”

Saviour, who did not feature at the African Youth Championship in Senegal in March, justified his first start at the U20 World Cup after he was a late substitute in the 4-2 loss to five-time champions Brazil on Monday.
