So we should all run for cover from Germany right? Even in the finals lets hope their bus crashes is that our plan? If you are not willing to play the best then what's the point. I'm not being proud i just have a justifiable belief in this team thank God for that loss cuz now the boys can sit up. Even Argentina lost to a good Ghana side they were down 3-0 at some point but no one is saying Argentina was over hyped with proud fans who can't face reality, do they not have professionals were they not playing a team with mostly local or academy players? In my honest opin i feel we have more to be optimistic about than most teams in this tournament we have not yet played our best ball and we are still in line to qualify
I concur, yet the prospect of meeting the germans sends shivers down my spine given the shaky performance from our boys. Germans are known to be the most efficient side in football, even their worst side go far in tournaments, they reach the semis 80 percent of the time

Hmmmm........

I have never seen any side of the National team whether in the past being analysed so much like this current U-20 side. It seems from the bench we have pool of talents(promising stars) so much so that the starting line up is not easily set up.

All that is needed now is team work, team play, understanding and less errors and mistakes. I hope they improve on that.

#Ultimate goal is for them to prove themselves later on in the senior team

I'm not saying we should be afraid of them, neither am i saying that we should run from them, lol, i'm just saying that it wik be wiser to avoid them at this stage of the competition. I can remember our 2011 set of the u.20 that have Mohammed Musa in their rank, they promise so much, that makes many Nigerians bullish and thinking that cup has already been won, the hopes, expectation and dreams were left tathered after they were eliminated by France. What i'm trying to draw out in this is that our expectation is to high, maybe we're thinking that winning u.17 wil automatically make you a champion at the u.20level.. I LOVE THIS TEAM SO MUCH BUT MY YEARS OF XPERIENCE HAVE TAUGHT ME HOW TO WATCH FOOTBALL WITHOUT HAVING HEARTHBREAK(I THINK I EARN THAT FROM YRS OF SUPPORTING ARSENAL)

Believe me, Hungary match have no much value again and believe me again when i tell you that Manu Garba will instruct his boys to play for draw, it's all about tactics, it's all about doing it in a smart way. Our confidence is already dented with that defeat to Brazil, and not even a 4-0 victory over hungary will bring it back cos at the end of the day we will fall at the hand of the Germans. The best way is to avoid Germany play a weaker opponent, win(probably convincinly) they tell Germany or who ever it is to "BRING IT ON".

I like Awoniyi. Dude is humble and plays his heart out. You can't drop a player like that from your team.

Those clamouring for Awoniyi to be dropped are wasting their time, they will be disappointed. Awoniyi has earned his place in that team.

I actually expected us to trash Brazil but 4rm d showings in dis world cup a match against Germany presently we are definitely going home we can't play Germany till d boys get dier groove back let's b honest those that watched the match even though we won 4-0 it wasn't as impressive as the fe we use to knw # and for those clamouring for awoniyi would u prefer an ideye hu makes chances to an emenike hu finishes chances as ur main striker
Re: Flying Eagles of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (New Zealand 2015) by Nobody: 10:20pm On Jun 04, 2015
BTW the Flying Eagles are currently the best 3rd-placed team across the groups. If things stay the same at the end of the last group matches, the team will face the winner of group D - most likely Serbia.

I had high hopes for that 2011 team. They played beautiful football, tearing teams apart at the early stages with 3,5,6 goals and was left heartbroken after we were defeated by France.

i'm disappointed by this kind of post. Abeg no short cut to GLORY. You must be tested n tried before you recieve medals for anyset goals in life even in football.Bring on d german machines. Verily verily, I tell u we got spanners that will untight n split their defence, we got screwdrivers n hammers that will drive in goals... Abeg when this players fully understand each other n gels together, Nations(our opponents) will tremble @ d sound of D name FLYINGEAGLES OF NIGERIA. But to be sincere most fans here are underestimating the potentials in this team... Make d germans de fire tanks i no care. Brazil did more than that @U-17 wc de never reach semi-final.
And you expect them to fully understand each other going into the Round of 16? I believe the flying eagles has enough potentials to win this WC, but it would be better to meet the tougher teams at the latter stages of the competition when the players have gelled.

Omo, make una leave matter for Mata, I no wan see Germany now. Anyhow we wan do am, we must just draw. If they wanted to win, they would have started with Brazil.

Even in chess, you need to know when to back down and lie in wait for your target, you mustn't move forward always. This is the time to lie in wait, no need for gragra, we avoid Germany for now and wait to meet them when we're at full strength. If we're lucky, someone gets rid of them for us, if not, we go jam when we go jam.

For now, we sacrifice the brave Hungarians to Germany and take on easier opponents grin. Maybe Hungary will grab a shock win and do the dirty work, they seem like a confident team smiley

I swear if we win Hungary, I go just start my cry from Sunday grin

How can u say football is not about mathematics then say we should not want to play Germany? I would think being that football is played on the field not paper you would be confident in this team or have u not watched them play before the world cup? They can beat any team in the world so why be scared of Germany i say we get them now before they gain further momentum.
They are at their peak now and it would be bad to face them now.Playing them in the latter stages where they would have been worn-out would be better.

Lol.. I recall the exact same permutations were common place in the 2004 AFCON, when most fans were dreading to meet Cameroon at the quarter-finals. The SE finished 2nd in the group...and had to face the Lions in the Q/F. In the end, Nigeria won 2-1 cool
Who says the FE can't beat the Germans in the round of 16?

I don't understand the fear of germany. . What pedigree do they have at this level. If the flying eagles play to their potential, they can beat anyone.

Another win against hungary will be good for confidence. Best to start building momentum.

I will really love it if we can avoid the germans now. Let us live to die another day. Yes we've always hear the phrase "you must beat the best to be the best". Yes avoiding them now is not an act of cowardice. I don't really see a problem with this, this is just a perfect and effective strategy. We can still play the germans later when we are truly back at 100%. Yes we defeated the Koreans but anyone that truly watched the match with an open mind will know that we are not there yet. And remember Germany is not Korea, Korea only had 1 shot on target. Just 1 shot on target. We can't really measure our self with that ridiculous team. Hungary will be the perfect test but I pray we both settle for draw.

But will our players really play for draw, I doubt that. We may whitewash the hungry-looking boys from Hungary.

The only problem I'm having with Nigerians is that we never agree to the fact, Bros make we no lie if we play Germany same way we played Korea, that 1st half will decide the full game ah swear, n I told sum1 that if akinjide did not start that 1st match there was going to be problem in that middle, thank God I have been vindicated, and for the guy that said iheanacho should not be played because he doesn't mark, the simple reason argentina lost to Germany in the world cup final Is becos messi had to mark in the 2nd half becos lavezzi was taken off, a free role player is not suppose to mark a lot, becos he needs the strenght for to fight when he gets the ball, and to me with just akinjide in the team that played Brazil, we would have score Korea like 6, to the guy who said succes is a yoruba boy! Correction hez an Edo boy!

if u re still going to meet a german side in the competition why delay the inevitable now? we re the african champs, if ghana that came 3rd in the AYC can beat argentina why would u advocate african champs to dodge germany? isnt that telling the world u dont have a good team? i say bring any team, we will do the job. if u must be the best u got to beat the best
