Laff you too... grin grin,.. You too don't have much chill wink, yes I have evidence.. cheesy

hahahaha. i try hard to be chilled oooooooo. lol

meanwhile, i see you are active on the US birth thread and you come across as being well versed with the whole process.

I have been contemplating going to the US to birth, although my husband and mum are not in support of the idea angry angry they think its not worth the stress. why leave free NHS to spend $$$$ abroad. But then my argument is there is no harm in a child having both UK and US passports - even boris johnson (London's mayor) and many others have both although Boris recently renounced his US citizenship grin grin)

my main issue is that i dont want to stay long in the US. if possible 2 weeks grin - pre and post delivery (wishful thinking i know grin grin grin). how 'late' can i leave my departure to the US and how soon can i return back to my base (i just stumbled on a post on that thread where a woman said she got the BC and US passport in one week). i dont think i will need a nigerian passport/visa for my baby at that stage since i will be travelling back to the UK and not Nigeria.

you cant put a 2 weeks old baby in the plane! haba!
also the latest time you can travel is 36 weeks, so unless you have a planned CS scheduled for 36/37 weeks, or planing an in duction at that same time i am hard pressed to see how you can spend less than 8 weeks

My 2 censt is that the UK pali is as good as the US, personally, i wouldnt bother, but you know best

all the best

I'm in my 35th week, I feel so sorry for myself and all I can do is cry. My waist aches badly, getting up from my bed is a task, walking like there is a ball between my legs which is painful.

Congratulations new mamas, I envy u greatly.
]
these last weeks are the hardest, but hang in there! your baby will soon be with you. as cliche as it sounds! try and get as much rest as you can, the few weeks of motherhood involve intense sleepless nights

i actually thought BA allowed women to board with fit-to-fly letters up to 38weeks - i just checked their site and its 36weeks and its the same with virgin atlantic. do you know any airline that permits flying after 36weeks?

that said, you will be amazed by the number of parents going to the US to birth even though they've got credible passports. grin grin

thanks for your input. really appreciated.

@Helovesme,

Ehn ehn, make I balance type ya epistle.

Having a future POTUS dream aint bad, nothing wrong with having dreams.

The best you can do is 7-8weeks and that is cutting it quite cloooossseee... Do you know a 36wks baby's lungs are fully developed & if one were to go into labour at that time most drs and hospitals won't try to stop the process, all they'll do is to keep the baby for observarion for a day or so cos the baby will not need any breathing assistance at that GA so which sane airline will airlift you at 37wks let alone @ 38wks ?

Let's now say you do a 37 wks fast one (where you'll get a dr/hospital that late in a non emergent situation is another epistle) & baby comes @ 39wks, won't you get bc? What about tha almighty blue pali that made you take the risk in the 1st place?

The earliest a baby can board a plane is 7days post delivery and I wonder how you can get all docs earlier than 4wks, we aren't even considering the 6wks post natal visit.

So you're one of those parents (my friend just told me about UK Nigerians flying to the US to birth). Hmmm.

Well, in my opinion, it's a waste of money (unless you just want it for bragging rights). What are the longterm benefits of having both? US is NOT a social state so all the UK benefits that apply to you will never happen here (people hate Obama care and medicaid and it's not even as broad and concise as NHS), the US does double taxation (something which affected Boris Johnson and a lot of Nigerians I know and they all gave up their US passports and yeah the US increases the fees daily for you to opt out of being a citizen), US schooling is getting more expensive (particularly uni). There are almost no benefits of having both and for me, I'd have preferred having Canadian or Swedish citizenship (rather than my US citizenship). But that's just me sha.

But like I said, Nigerians like bragging rights. Perhaps do your research on US taxation, cost of university in the US and new governmental regulations before subjecting your child to something that will backfire.

this has NOTHING to do with bragging rights. I have my reasons but its no point explaining them to you since you've concluded it for bragging ish. Bragging rights on top wetin $10,000 birthing costs maybe for people you roll with its something to brag about but most def not for me. the least you can have done is ask for reasons before going wild on your keyboard.

so you know, university education isnt free or cheap here (except in Scotland) and i cant be azzed to counter most of your other points . i work in the financial services sector so i know everything about US's FATCA regulations. okay?

just the same way you prefer canadian or swedish citizenship over others is the same way some people prefer that of the US over others. different strokes for different folks.

and your last line - what will backfire its an individual's choice to settle down in which ever country he pleases and renounce whatever citizenship he or she holds.

even if its to brag is it your business ? nigerians like you and their 'jealousy jealousy' syndrome.
