After watching the highlights of the German European triumph on YouTube, one thing actualized into a certainty for me, tomorrow's match is going to be a very difficult one for Nigeria. This German side is a well oiled machine, they play with one mind, and most importantly, they're ruthless. They are very big on wing play, so our our full backs have their respectively jobs cut out for them.

I'm by no means fazed by Germany, and I believe that our boys can beat them convincingly if they take their game to the next level, but they should by on no account allow this Germans to counter attack them at any point in time, cuz, they are very deadly at it.
You indeed know what a typical german team is. This very german team got the tactical nous to overcome any unwary team. This game isn't ganna be a roller-coaster for the eagles... EXCEPT of course the germans capitulate which seldom happen. I bank on the eagles to win not because beating the germans is such a cinch or because the eagles' performance thus far has been out of this world but because I expect the eagles to 'peak' in this game after three matches. Verily they've been under-performing in comparison with their true potentials.

Thus, with complacency removed after the humbling defeat to Brazil, I expect the eagles to bring on their A game.
Let relax as events unfold cool

lucky for us all, I'm not an expert grin

Everyone shared similar views going by their preparations, so what's your point?
He failed to understand the point u were tryn to make ,I also made such comment before the World Cup , because the media made us to believed that the malians were denied visa to train in their chosen destination also I can't remember that part that said they were not financially buoyant also ....all boils down to lack of preparation , in fact ,the media painted it so bad that we all felt they will not do well , and we went to tip Ghana and Nigeria to represent Africa . As a football lover you , everyone is free to say what is on his/her mind .

I didn’t miss a sec of the 2013 CAF U-17 championship. It’s true that Bulbwa was benching Iheanacho back then but during that competition Bulbwa was very wasteful in front of goal. No disrespect to Bulbwa’s skills, ability to dribble and run with the ball but the below attributes will make me pick Iheanacho over Bulbwa currently:
- Higher conversion rate in terms of goal scoring which means we can score more of the chances created.
- Sharp eyes for goal
- Forward minded and Less dribbling (mostly interchanging of passes), attack moved faster.
- Combines well with other attackers (Awoniyi's combination with Iheanacho at Dubia 2013 was like that of siamese twins).

Bulbwa can always come into the game to waste time just like Mikel does for Chelsea.

Firstly it was UAE 2013 & not Dubai 2013.

All those attributes of Iheanacho that u listed were during the last U17 WC.This isd U20s and it is like 2steps above d U17 Do u know whether Bulbwa would have done better if he didnt fail d MRI test?

Garba Manu knows thé individual players abilities more than you and I.
Trust Manu's judgement on this one. Bulbwa brings more to d table than Iheanacho.

And comparing Mikel with Bulbwa, Mikel was much better than all d Midfielders in this team when he was U20.

Germany will undeniably be the favourites when they face Nigeria in Christchurch in the round of 16 on Thursday morning.
The Group F winners showed their full strength in the 8-1 win over Fiji in their tournament opener, and continued their impressive form by defeating Uzbekistan 4-0 and Honduras 5-1 in their last group game.

For Nigeria, having bounced back from a thumping 4-2 defeat by Brazil to convincingly beat Korea DPR and Hungary, they will have to raise their level still further when they come across Frank Wormuth’s side who parade the best attack in the tournament with 17 goals from three games.

Manu Garba’s team seem to have tightened up their backline after their opening game defeat to Brazil to keep two clean slates, but they will have to be wary of the dangerous duo of Hany Mukhtar and Marc Stendera who have found the back of the net twice in this competition.

Former Nigeria international, Garba Lawal insists the reigning African youth champions cannot afford to make any mistakes when they come up against the Europeans, who he admits are going to be a difficult opponent.

“It’s going to be a very tough game because the Germans are very tough. The Flying Eagles should play to their best because this is a knockout stage and there should be no rooms for mistakes.”

“The defence line should be very careful and must play with caution. Any flop, then they are back home because there is no second chance to correct their lapses.

Coach Wormuth revealed that his team are in high spirits but is sure his team can do greater damage to the Nigerians while counting on heavy support in the Christchurch venue.

Taiwo Awoniyi will again be the man of whom much will be expected across Nigeria, with his brace in New Plymouth having raised the bar following his double assist which had preceded their final Group E fixture.

Mali await the winner of this game in the quarter final billed for the Christchurch Stadium on June 14, 2015.

Same line-up, well I hope they perform well.

How I wish that the boys I was supporting b4 the start of the tournament can at least get a start/another start to proof their worth.

Can't these boys Isaac success, Iheanacho, Simon Moses and yahaya are that bad that they can't even secure a starting shirt.

Or is there something we don't understand here that keeps these boys warming the bench like there is no tomorrow? Shey bench dey sweet like chocolate ni because thing tire me ooo?

It's going to be cracker but we shouldn't put all our mind into it. The Germans are very good and tactical, however I firmly believe we can nail them to the Wall if the Lads up their respective games.
There shouldn't be room for complacency throughout the 90 mins. Also the Fullbacks should always watch before overlapping; they should be extra cautious to avoid the Germans punishing us with counter-attack or wings play!
Names do not play football, rather performances on the field. Is anyone thought Falcao would be a big flop at Man United?
Harry Kane kept the likes of Adebayo and Soldado on the bench at Spurs - big names!
Trust Manu Garba's selection not the Big Guns (Ihenacho, Yahaya, Simon, and Issac) in the Team.
None of us is watching the Lads training, hence we have no right to question the Coach's selection.
What's needed from us as faithful fans is "total support" (good or bad).
Up Super Flying Eagles!!!

The game will be won from the bench (technical crew). If our coach make correct selection and good formation victory is sure but am scare of his inability to make tactical changes which is the bane of Nigerian coaches .

With the report I am hearing about this German side, there is no how we won't need an Nwakali in that midfield. It isn't a bad idea to use 5 midfielders too (2 attacking...3DMF) with the third DMF being very close to the back 4. Our defence is not good enough at all(forget the korean and hungary matches). Moreover, we need a pacy midfield and the likes of Bulbwa and Ifeanyin don't offer that at all. If Yahaya and Nacho do not start, they should definately come off the bench early enough.

i hope our boys realise earlier that we are not playing against 11players but against 11players+1Ref. I thinking Garba Sticking to the same players s to wear out d germans n wit d compactness of d midfield de(germans) might run out of Ideas. But early changes should be made. I trust this boys-de've always deliver and de will as usual. Fly Super Flying Eagles

I totally disagree with you on this, Mikel during his u20 days was just a complete creative midfielder he does the clean job and supply creative passes for the attackers. But in this present team we have some other creative midfielders like Yahaha nd Moses that will give you this creativity nd as well get you very clean goals in case your attackers are silent in the game.

Ex-international Garba Lawal says there is no room for mistakes in Nigeria U20’s World Cup second-round tie with Germany. Wins over Korea DPR and Hungary saw Manu Garba’s team finish in second place of Group E, setting them up for a last-16 meeting with Frank Wormuth’s side, who finished atop their group with nine points.

The former Iraklis player capped 53 times by Nigeria insists the reigning African youth champions cannot afford to make any mistakes when they come up against the Europeans, who he admits are going to be a difficult opponent.

“It’s going to be a very tough game because the Germans are very tough. The Flying Eagles should play to their best because this is a knockout stage and there should be no rooms for mistakes,” Lawal told Goal.

“The defence line should be very careful and must play with caution. Any flop, then they are back home because there is no second chance to correct their lapses.

“The midfielders and strikers always do their best to get the goals and when they do that, the back four should always be ready to prevent the Europeans from scoring.

“By the grace of God we will come out victorious but we have to be very careful because the Germans are very tough,” he concluded.

The game billed for Christchurch Stadium, Christchurch will kick off at 7.30 am on Thursday morning.

Yahaya and Moses are playing different roles compared to Mikel. Moses and Yahaya are more of winger & Attacking middfielder respectively while Mikel played more of central Midfield. Yahaya abd Moses are more comparable with Chinedu Ogbuike Obasi and John Owoeri.

I reiterate dat i have nt seen any player in d calibre of Mikel of U20 in this midfield.

One thing many of us don't understand is this, in a national team tournament, u don't change the wining team u only make adjustments when the team does not play to u taste, I'm sure we remmember Spain in 2010? Del bosque only changed his line up when he lost the 1st match, and they started every match with same line up, till they worn they, so if manu, decides to do same then I'm in support of him, I know if we convert our chances we'll definitely be victorious...

Playing flank and central midfield, are both not midfielders?

Icon4s can u state clearly why u feel mikel's role as a central midfielder at the then u20 is better than any of the midfielders we have now.
Pls give clear points............
