Fulaman198: That is true. Besides, my brother did marry a fulani woman, who knows, maybe I might marry one myself and then I won't be able to speak. But If I do, I'd prefer my children speak both languages, and share both cultures, I feel it preserves who they are and robbing them out of their mothers culture is repulsive. Then again if you consider hausa culture in Nigeria, the fulbes played an integral part, they are the monarchs, well most of them and I think most of what we consider hausa culture will not be the way it is without the fulbes. If you put all this into account then one has to consider the fact that there are no true hausas or fulbes in Nigeria, and we can only keep guessing, maybe a great ancestor of a person was a hausa or pullo who got intertwined with other cultures and that's what we identify ourselves with. The fulbes are purer since you can identify them but it would explain why there is no exact hausa look in Nigeria but most ethnicities have a general look, heck in my family, no one looks alike, I think that speaks for racial diversity. For now I only know my family tree to my grandfather (lol!) I will try to dig up more but until then, I'm satisfied describing myself as an uncompromising hausa lad. 1 Like |

ZoranderGraeme: You are right everything you said here is true. I think though in Niger you will still find true Hausa people like in Zinder, Maradi, etc. |

Fulaman198: Hmm! I'll try to dig up more about them. Like the current president of Niger, do you think he's a "true" hausa? Itd be interesting to meet these people, see how much I'd fit in |

ZoranderGraeme: I don't think Mahamadou Issoufou is a true Hausa. His name doesn't even sound Hausa. |

Fulaman198: The name is well...Muhammad Yusuf, maybe due to french influence? I've met a lot of hausa Nigeriens, and honestly their names are a bit different, like Musa can be Muse or Musale, but apart from the name, is there any way of telling? Because every source says he's hausa, or maybe his mother is tuareg? |

ZoranderGraeme: The issue isn't with the Mahamadou which is the same as Mamadou, or Mohammed/Muhammad, the issue is with Issoufou which like you said is a variant of Yusuf/Yousef/Yousuf. Musa in the French speaking world is also Moussa. Most people in Niger can speak Hausa about 85%. So I'm not 100% sure what he is to be honest. That's an excellent question. |

Subom1: There is nothing tribalistic about my comments. It's like calling a Turkish man an Arab. That's wrong. They are two very different distinct groups of people or like calling a Mexican a Brazilian. That's how different things are. I respect and love Hausa people personally. Nothing beats their Kalangu music. |

Fulaman198:That is the disadvantage and it happens when we are surrounded by others and they dominate us in numbers. In Futa Jallon, many Fulanis have mixed with others and you will see common people with Mande last names that consider themselves Fulanis. We migrate a lot, contrary to other Africans. And if we want to retain the language in every condition, we need to teach it and force the children to speak. That is the only way. 1 Like |

kaura5000: The question is how pure is he? I'm starting to think the nigeriEns I meet everyday aren't Hausas but zarmas, which would explain why they speak another Second language. And I thought the hausa population in Niger would be more than that. |

Fulaman198: ItS truly beautiful. At first I couldn't understand the language they were speaking then I realized... Lol! Their dialect is a little weird, but the song and general message is beautiful. 1 Like |

Fulaman why is it that your people in nigeria like copying hausa culture in nigeria.. from the traditional hausa horse riding eg hawan daushe, . to organize hausa administration system in using hausa titles such as turaki, wambai, waziri etc, hausa architecture eg tubali architecture, hausa food and most importantly hausa language.. heck even danfodio use hausa administration system which is one of the best I have seen..why is it so? |

kaura5000: Horse riding has always been a part of Fulbe culture as it is done everywhere in Fulbe lands (How do you think Fulani came to Nigeria): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjZDS81OGcw The Hausa system in Nigeria has been heavily influenced by the Fulbe. Sorry to say that. 1 Like |

Fulaman the horse riding is also part of hausa culture.. sorry to say the one we have in nigeria is from hausa culture which we practice since before the coming of fulbe to nigeria.. hawan daushe has a history dating back to 14th century it has no fulbe influence Fulaman198: |

Horse riding is part of hausa culture from niger republic to nigeria... we even have important titles for slaves who are in charge of horses known as shamaki.. but nowadays shamaki is in charge of both the cars and horses of the Emirates |
Re: Beautiful Hausa /fulani Girls ....( Photos) by kaura5000: 8:45am On Jun 14, 2015 |
Sorry to say fulbe didn't came to nigeria on horseback they came in as pastoralist and settle in nigeria..even danfodio was born in nigeria.. hope you know hausa people main occupation are great merchant's engaging in trading with caravans hence that explains their relationship with horses... the horse is to hausa what the cattle is to fulbe |
