Before writing this post. I had put a lot of things
into consideration. I want to be so careful with my
words so I don’t breed any kind of contempt.
I was created a male. I evolved Into a boy. My
metamorphosis will soon be complete as I foray
into the wilderness of manhood. Did I say
wilderness?
While I bask in the aura of my natural machismo
and masculinity. I have this consciousness that
woman was created for man. So therefore a
woman must do my bid. This is how an average
man thinks.
But times are changing. Things are not the same.
The 21st century lady is different especially in the
African context. There is a radical evolution. An
obvious consciousness. There is a potent
uprising. And if you don’t fix yourself as a man
and you choose to be oblivious to this reality,
you’ll be grossly disappointed.
In a trado-African setting. A special importance
or acknowledgement has always been attached to
the male-child. I don’t understand the sentiments
shared. But the female-child is always secondary
and often relegated to the background.
But thanks to education and civilization. Thanks
to Mary Slessor too. We might still be killing
twins too. People are beginning to change their
views regards which particular sex holds the
highest importance. A child is a child. Boy or girl.
Accept what God gifts you. A child is a gift.
Howbeit, some folks are still primitive and still
hold on to certain cultural beliefs.
I’m a feminist. Maybe Like 70 or 80%. I’d discuss
why in my next post. But I believe that a woman
must be treated with utmost respect. Maybe
equal rights. Maybe equal liberty. But In most
instances, these vituperations are just. I admire
the strength of Oby Ezekwesili, Chimanda Adichie
(I’ve read her books), Odumakin and others too
that I don’t remember now. They’ve tried in their
own little but majestic ways by making their
voices known and heard. One of Chimanda’s work
even got to be featured on Beyoncé’s album, a
song titled flawless . But a lot still need to be
done in areas of orientation, sensitization and
building of self esteem. And taking this project to
the grassroots. Girls get punished for the same mistakes boys
commit while the boys gets away and move on. A
man will sanely impregnate a woman he doesn’t
have plans for but insanely scream her down to go
abort the resulting pregnancy. If I begin to go deep
into atrocities boys commit, I might lose the focal
of this post. So let me hold my horse.
Meanwhile. Men are physically strong. Maybe
mentally too. They are stereotypic. One mind, one
way. More aggressive in nature and selfish in
style. But women appear weak but they are rather
delicate. By default, they are built to absorb more
pressure, they are receptive, naturally resilient.
They take keen interest in little things and details.
They are hypersensitive. Maybe that’s why they
are jealous. But the summary is that they have a
mental edge over men.
But the truth be told. Moral decadence is high
and prevalent now. And it’s high time we put an
end to incessant rape cases, domestic violence,
women trafficking, kidnapping, body mutilation,
psychological and mental torture amidst many
more. A woman’s pain is enough. She is a
preserver of life, a gateway to unknown
generation. She is a gift. We need to open our
eyes and see them that way.
What can a man do? That a woman cannot do?
Actually there is one or two, maybe three. But
what a woman can do, a man cannot do half. A
man handles one objective at a time. But a
woman is born to multitask. A woman can pick
beans and breastfeed at the same time while
doing some light household chores systematically
together. She cooks, wash, iron and sings at the
same time. She can fry Akara for sale in the
morning, hawk moinmoin or vegetable in the
afternoon, fry oduku in the night, retires home to
cook dinner for her family and wakes up early to
do the same thing the next day.
Men cannot absorb pressure in the way God has
helped women to. Cannot house a baby for a
month talkless of give birth to one even without
the pain associated with it. The moment a girl
reaches puberty, the pressure from within and
without begins. For the guy, exuberance increases
with little or no pressure in comparison with the
girl. Above all, any degeneration in any society
affects the women and children more. They suffer.
That is where a man should be known but most
abscond from their responsibilities. Women are
the greatest casualties of war.
But times are changing. There is a reasonable
progress. Though slow, if not very slow. But the
arithmetic progression is impressive.
A man hustles. The woman hustles more. A guy
came out with a first class. A lady does too even
with distinctions. You are a breadwinner? A
woman brings food to the table too with fruits
and vegetables. Infact, they are plenty out there.
Divorced mothers and single moms will tell you
their ordeals. A woman is a manager, a natural
home maker. In some local or rural settlements,
the women go to farms while the husbands chill
out with friends, sipping on palmwine. I’ve seen
lady photographers before. I’ve seen lady
mechanics before. What’s new? We have male
professionals, the females aren’t sleeping these
days. Infact we are competing for the same
available resources and space. So cut some slack
and give that lady the respect she deserves.
Even women thrive in governance if given the
chance and right platforms to perform. But most
won’t believe me. Wait! I’d kill your doubts with
examples.
There is a positive correlation between equality
and economic growth. Countries that do not treat
women as second class citizens are often more
likely to prosper in a sustainable manner, and
thus is true regardless of the prevailing ideology
or religion of that country. Rwanda and the United
Arab Emirates are two classic examples. Both
countries rank high in comparative regional
gender equality surveys and both have
experienced an upward trend in economic
prowess and social development over the last 10
years and 40 years respectively. In the book
Flashes of Thought , the ruler of Dubai,
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, says of his
government: “our job is to provide an environment
that unlocks women’s potential- one that protects
their dignity and feminity, helps them create the
necessary balance in their lives, and values their
talents and potential. Given this environment, I
am confident that women will perform nothing
short of miracles.” To that end, 70 per cent of his
personal team are women, 65 percent of their
government employees are women and 30 percent
of the leadership positions are held by women.
Closer to home, let’s look at Rwanda. Since the
genocide ended over 10 years ago, women have
generally made up more than 50 percent of their
parliamentarians. Currently, approximately 63
percent of their members of parliament are
women. During that time, Rwanda has
experienced year-on-year GDP growth. Their GDP
per capita, their Gross National Income per capita,
their Agricultural Production Rate and food
production rate have all increased steady over
those years. this is no coincidence.
If you’re a man reading this. Never raise your
hand on a woman. Respect her choice or
decision. Respect a woman. Respect that lady. Help grow. Help her win.
And for the womenfolks reading this. I got your
back on this one. Start believing in yourself and in
what you can do. Meanwhile, I’m coming down

This is about the policies your country installs for women. Besides I can write a whole thesis on how I don't see legalizing marijuana as a moral dysfunction. In fact it would be best America puts this into law and go the route of the Netherlands, kicking out the drug cartels. America is losing money just on incarcerations alone. Marijuana has shown to have properties to aid epileptic patients. It's very important this should be legalized especially medical marijuana. Same sex marriage between 2 adults is of no grave importance to me, I'm not gay, but female. So I'm more interested in favorable policies for the girl child in Nigeria which the people you elected find a hard time aiding.
