And as it seems; I may soon become a distance apprentice of Spyder880 without his knowledge My cousin just contracted me to design and supervise his 4 bedroom (3 bdrm flat with an attached self contained flat) bungalow on a 50ft by 100ft plot - I don get a part time job o! It's going to be a narrow/long building so as to fit in well on the plot and leave enough space by the sides of the plot. Here's the plan he likes - designed by me (a hobby turning into a part time job) 2 Likes

century106: Thank you Sir. Will be expecting the breakdown analysis. Parapet scares me both in fund and in installation practicality. Hajji M. |

mufutau55:same me but I just realise one does not really have to do it. I rather prefer to use that cash for interior out standing finishing. 1 Like |

Weldone century 106 please kindly explain the 1300 naira per square cost of the roofing sheet and the total cost of 980k I am a little lost here sir. Thanks sir. |
Re: My Five (5) Bedroom Bungalow - The Building Process by century106: 12:00am On Jun 20, 2015 |
olumidazz:Ok. I went with First Aluminum metcoppo and it's sold for N1,300 per square meter. I didn't spend up to 980k again, the carpenter had designated his co-carpenter to take the measurement of the entire roofing sheets required and he tried to play a fast one on me by adding excessive sqm so that he can get the money from the aluminum company after I make the payment - it's happening everywhere. Thanks to all the knowledge garnered from this forum, I rejected the estimate they gave me. I took tape and did the measurement and estimates myself and that just saved me more than #280k that that would have gone into the pockets of the crooked carpenter. Thanks 4 Likes |

century106: Nigeria for you.. Even the popular company is making that kind of shady arrangement of refunds. I hope you fired that Carpenter instantly? So how many sqm did you get for this roofing? Thanks. Hajji M. |

Back in the day, Nigeria never used to build such steep and voluminous roof and ceiling areas... Why are people now building every thing like that? It requires more roofing material for such roofing area and surely cost more than the lower profile roofs that used to be the standard.. Did building standard officials mandate such design? I know its good for shedding snow, but not so needed to shed rain.. Maybe it reduces heat build up in the ceiling area? But most of those dont seem to have ventilation to vent the hot air anyway... Maybe people just like the big look of it to make the house look bigger? 6 Likes |
