TLOTRS:Read @Kepner posts again, he/she got his admission letter (hardcopy) in 6 weeks, but he received his Pdf copy way before then. If you have to pester your departmental admin or whoever needs to be pestered, do oo and find out about your pdf copy... Lol I almost missed my admission and the conditional deadline because I had issues with my email address and I didnt even know. I feel you should have your pdf copy already. For my school, its the date on the pdf copy that is used to determine acceptance deadline, not the date you receive the paper (hardcopy). So I feel its important to find out if pdf copy has been sent. Well Nairalanders in your school will know better. |

invincible2006:You would need to have some money on you for your first few days till you set up your bank account then send the bank details back home for a wire transfer. No one verifies the money on your debit or credit card, as par routine you may be asked if you have anytin to declare cash inclusive and you only have to if you are carrying cash above $10,000 if i remember correctly. Why would you want to have so much cash on you when coming it is not advisable. A majority of Nigeria Bank cards all work in Canada (Visa & Mastercard) @N240 charge per withdrawal double check with your bank that it is N240 oo so your peeps can credit you in Naija and you withdraw in Canada. No bring Verve ATM card ooo or you'll be on a long thing.Note also that depending on your NaiJa Bank's policy you may be required to inform them you are going to Canada so that your Visa or Mastercard transactions will be flawless and not flagged and blocked as fraudulent transactions. 7 Likes 1 Share |

invincible2006: I've heard GTB is good. Its best to take your card, and alittle cash, like a 100/200 dols incase you wne buy something at your stop over plus cab fare and few other stuff. Its not wise to carry too much cash as you might not be able to get to a bank ontime. |

Krix25:You will need an admissions Letter before you proceed to start gathering your documents and a Nlander has posted links to all you need for the study permit process skim through the thread and you will find it and tank him too as well for links it helps a lot. SAIT is very competitive when it comes to admissions and the fact that you have been placed on a waitlist buttresses my point. If placed on a waitlist you have to understand that it is only when a slot becomes open then you will be granted admission and this also depends on your position on the list of waitlisted applicants so you may or may not get admitted to the program. This is my suggestion and you are not obligated to heed to it. I will assume SAIT is not the only school you applied to if you have admission from another school proceed with that admission and when you get to Canada if SAIT is still your preferred choice and offered admission from the waitlist then you switch to SAIT it is easy and permitted by CIC. |

Hey!!! Its best to have a plan B ooo; waiting for SAIT or NAIT admission into competitive courses is like waiting for the second coming of Jesus Christ. Krix25: |

invincible2006:As an addendum to what u asked earlier. The currency of the little cash you want to bring for the first few days can be US Dollars, Euros or even Pounds, which can be gotten easily in Naija and exchanged inside the Airport in Canada, most peeps bring USD. As may know already CAD dollars is a traded currency in Naija for Wire transfer transactions so you can't readily get it in cash at a Bank in Naija, you may get lucky with the Bureau De Change but i doubt it. 2 Likes |

Hello everyone, Pls I seek your opinion on this mind bugging issue. I was delayed earlier this month for 4 reasons: -Purpose of Visit -Travel History -Home ties -Personal asset I currently work(I submitted all my work related documents, even my pay slips) as an Information Technology Officer with a first degree in computer science and I applied for a Diploma program in Computer Engineering Technology . As a means of correcting my errors in my first application I want to apply for a PGD program in Information Systems Business Analysis in another college. My confusion is how can I explain this new PGD course selection in my SOP cos I intend to reference my earlier delayed app in my SOP. But in the real sense I qualify for the two courses since they both require a pre-requisite of computer science foundation. I would like to have the opinion of the House and our senior members in canada to advice me as I do not want the VO to sight this as a red flag. Many thanks for your anticipated kind response |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by teesboy: 12:00pm On Jun 20, 2015 |
Krix25:Switching to another school in Canada will not require a transcript if you have previously applied to that school and duly satisfied it's admissions requirements and you hold a valid admissions letter from the school. Make no mistake oo you cannot switch to a new school in Canada without having an admissions letter from the school oo. If SAIT is the only school you applied to then you will have to wait patiently or starting application to a New school now and if it is the SAIT I know for a competitive program you will just be wasting valuable time on their waitlist as @kfrosh rightly said. The decision is your's entirely to make. |
