Boko Haram has seized control of a Nigerianiown after hundreds of soldiers stationed there reportedly fled across the border to Cameroon, a police source said.

Almost 500 Nigerian soldiers fled the Nigerian border towns of Ashigashyia and Kerawa over the weekend to take refuge from Boko Haram fighters on Cameroonian territory.

An eyewitness to the Boko Haram massacre in Baga says he saw Nigerian army forces and security officers run away from the town and give their guns to civilians in exchange for civilian clothes.

Nigerian army considers cowardice to be part of the way they operate:

Following the incessant attacks by the dreaded Boko Haram sect, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.- Gen. Kenneth Minimah, has revealed that some soldiers have abandoned the force due to the fear of the terrorists group Boko Haram.

“Sometimes, journalists ask me questions, saying soldiers are deserting their jobs because they don’t want to be killed in the North East. I tell them yes, it is true. Desertion is part of war”.

http://www.naij.com/70115.html

The soldiers complained about the inadequacy of weaponry and other equipment to confront Boko Haram fighters. Several soldiers revealed that many soldiers deserted their camps after handing over their weapons at the army headquarters in Michika, Adamawa State earlier today. At least 100 soldiers reportedly left through Shua-Mubi Road wearing civilian clothing.

Fighting spirit of courage plus combat experience, that is how 100 Nigerian troops fought 1,000 Sudanese rebels and we lost only 30 men, never surrendered, they retreated to form a stubborn pocket of resistance at a part around the base perimeter, good tactical thinking, battle field craft.

Nigerian soldiers retreated from Bokos in some instances after many hours of fighting outnumbered and running out of ammunition.

800 South African troops troops in Sudan decided to surrender to 500 Sudanese troops without a fight.....100% cowardice

Nigerian army came back to recover EVERY ground lost to Bokos and k.illed every Boko that refused to surrender to us, we won our war 100%.

Seleka NEVER admitted raising white flag, it is a South African concocted false version of events, Seleka said it's fighters broke through SANDF defensive lines, how does a man winning a battle and breaking up his enemy raise white flag, or is the white flag a weapon that is used to break through enemy defences and k.ill the enemy till they start running like rabbits to the airport ?

Sudan event proves SANDF elite troops were the ones who actually raised white flag in surrender to Seleka rebels.

Your army is trained to surrender at the earliest given opportunity, NO SANDF man wants to die in battle....Cowards cheesy cheesy
.
So your telling me that your own Soldiers were outnumbered and ran out of ammunition in your own country!!!
An not only that, what about your soldiers dressing in women's clothing just to hide from BH?

Oh and BTW we never surrendered to the Sudanese.. The incident is also yet to been proved that it actually happened.

And yes Seleka raised the white flag....It was a political decision to withdraw troops from CAR and BTW the French were in Bangui to, does that mean they were defeated by Seleka to?

NO NEED TO SURRENDER, YOU RAN AWAY BECAUSE YOU CAN NEVER SURRENDER TO A REBEL, UNLESS YOU ARE READY TO STAND TORTURE.

Running away from the enemy is tantamount to throwing in the towel. Nigerian soldiers abandoned their bases many a times in six years of insurgency due to immense pressure exerted by the enemy's firepower. Many have discarded their uniform and weapons to join civilians on the marathon track. Colonel Agu, admittedly discarded his weapons and transformed himself into a woman out of cowardice. Civilians confessed how they have been offering hikes to your fleeing soldiers who were caught hitchhiking running away from the wrath of Boko haram islamist militants.

SANDF has never in any occasion exhibited the level of cowardice showcased by Nigerian soldiers before the very people they protect. At one stage, one civilian was interviewed and he publicly gave details of how soldiers outran them on the race of saving their dear life.

To tell the truth we as the world started to see the changes when Master Barlow and company wete invited to partake. Mr Barlow said your military was in a mess and was trained and programmed to fail. He further said that the state they were in was poor and miserable and that any army that was in that state would have never tasted victory anywhere.

I am a coloured and have never suffered any wraths of apartheid. My family is mixed from whites (Irish), coloureds of the Malay cape and Zulus to a lesser extent. Apart from what I have just mentioned, apartheid was not as bad as it was said to be. Whites never restricted Blacks to caves. They still offered them free decent houses, electricity to those who could afford to pay for it, telephone lines as a pay user. SA Blacks were the most sophisticated blacks in the whole of Africa at the time. In fact, the only discriminative part about apartheid was the crafting of law that sought to separate amenities. The law that divided SA into various cultural and language groups. That as a result created whites only areas that received much of the attention in terms of development. Still, the whites only areas where not further away from what we know as townships which were predominantly black.

Another thing is that do you know that slums were not allowed during apartheid. There were only few of them and were restricted to that number and elsewhere in the country, there were zero slums.

That $60 billion is worth more than Nigeria today. Dont tell me about the GDP because it is not a concrete money it is just an estimation in monetary terms of how much potential the economy of one country has. The ANC has never had anything above that in its over 100 years of existance and even today they have no such money. Nigeria on the other hand as well does not have that sum even if I can request it, there is no even one single institution in Nigeria that would ever offer me that much.

If that sum is so difficult to organise at this present I would wonder how difficult it must have been to raise during those yesteryears when Nigeria was as poor as Ethiopia during draught. Biafra was even worse with children dying from malnutrition. Our comrades they once told us that there is no greater liar on the continent like a Nigerian. They told us that telling lies is part of the DNA of a Nigerian.

Agaugust, peace keeping force is not a combat force. The number of the weapons they are carrying is decided on by someone. It is only makes sense to surrender to government troops when you have only a limited fire. However, is only cowards who would attack peace keepers. The person who reportedly uttered such words of surrender is not a commander and it is only the commander who concede defeat. That guy was only speaking his mind and his words meant nothing.

Same as in Bangui, the French had veto to decide howany weapons we bring in the country since our mission was to train government troops and the French had to reinforce peace.

100 Nigerian peace keeping troops used AK-47 and light arms to fight 1,000 heavily armed Sudanese rebels and we refused to surrender, we did not wait for any mandate to shoot, we apply the UN universal law of peace keepers self defense.

SANDF have right to defend themselves and fight in Sudan if attacked, you fool ! You failed BSc Military Science exams right ?

Why is it that everytime SANDF faces a combat challenge the story ends with excuses of why SANDF refused to fight, all time it's excuses and excuses and excuses and excuses evrytime, so how do we test your SANDF capability to rank you among the strongest military in Africa?

You cowards want to be ranked top military power in Africa by displaying photos on Nairaland ? You cannot fight real war cheesy cheesy

Same British and French troops came back 4 years later in 1944 to fight again and won back the whole of France by defeating Germany.
