rockiedink: I used to believe that we are much more advanced scientifically now in terms of methods and ideas now, the scientists back then would have been pretty good then... and i am Engineer... |

Teempakguy: Dis should b the main point. Cancer cells re likely to have different genetic make up in different individuals. This genetic faults of cancer cells change with time making it uncontrollable by gene targeted drugs |

Interesting comments. |
Re: The Sciences Discussion Thread. by johnydon22(m): 7:48pm On Jun 21, 2015 |
1miccza: Of course the science then are way more advanced than we think or make them out to be but just more crude than ours, we just developed more on what they know. . E.g: The wheel, they invented the wheel for carts and chariots, we still use wheels today, tyres... telescope, we also still use telescopes today of which one of the most remarkable the Hubble telescope . so you see, its basically the same thing. . The scientific concept is the same just the portrayal differs |

taharqa:I tell people that KNOWLEDGE is the utmost we all sought and can be achieved through Science, pseudoscience, and/or, Art, etc..... I wouldn't say Science is the most precise as it depends on the intelligentsia of the brain seeking answers but Science is the most logically comprehensible branch of knowledge that is apparent to humankind in this present time........ Another branch of knowledge bigger than Science may occur in Million years to come or before then that will explain phenomenon more better than Science...... .... then Science shall phase out same way as Arts. Since MATHEMATICS is the science of numbers , everything in the cosmos is denoted by one sign or the other at the primary basis or basic level of existence. 1 Like |

Lushcream:[b] Bro i beg to differ. . . Science entails study. . so if any branch of study will occur in the future it still will be science, maybe just in an improved way. . Just like the ancient science are in the form of improved knowledge in this generation. . Alchemy - Chemistry, astrology- astronomy...etc So that knowledge in the near future surely still remains science only in a more improved way |

Beautiful thread. Concerning the hanging gardens, have you guys heard of creepers/climbers in agriculture. I think it could explain the hanging nature of the garden. |

Re: The Sciences Discussion Thread. by Nobody: 8:19pm On Jun 21, 2015 |
johnydon22:Science does not equate Knowledge ..... this is where many Science students get it all wrong ...... Science is just a branch of knowledge i.e a means to knowledge........ Science is just a logical proven knowledge that is devoid of abracadabra even I read some certain axioms are still unexplainable till date with science ............ while with pseudoscience you can get to the root of such axioms but it may be beyond logical realm. The world is evolving,Knowledge is evolving and keep getting evolved thus you never can decipher the new means to accurate and more precise understanding of phenomena in millions of years to come that will make mankind of those time to realise oooohhhhh Science tried but not definite .......... We of today should not be full of ourselves .... Mankind of Million years to come may see us same way we are seeing Gorilla |

Teempakguy:Ok bro let me see if i can upload the ones i have on my phone so people who dont have the idea of what we are discussing. . . You know wonders of the ancient word incited my interest in ancient historical antiquities . .maybe you can also open a thread about this ancient civilozations, architecture and antiquities

Re: The Sciences Discussion Thread. by Nobody: 9:13pm On Jun 21, 2015 |
Lushcream:Ah, yes. You are thinking along the lines of Lamarck's theory of use and disuse. It has been proven wrong. No matter how you improve yourself. It is only your genes that your children will inherit. Never your abilities. |

johnydon22:Errr ever cross your mind you do not have enough data to make a very good scientific judgement? All the proposed solutions y'all will come up with cannot be tested no? |
Re: The Sciences Discussion Thread. by Nobody: 9:20pm On Jun 21, 2015 |

Re: The Sciences Discussion Thread. by SIRANDREWS: 9:21pm On Jun 21, 2015 |
why is the universe so massive? can we ever explore our galaxy in a thousand years time? When will we start investing money and time into theories that make faster than light travel possible? the talk of infinite universes is so mind boggling is our own universe ever going to contract? brb....... |
Re: The Sciences Discussion Thread. by Nobody: 9:21pm On Jun 21, 2015 |
Queed:As far as I am concerned, Science and Religion do not conflict unless Religion tends to be subjective and people tend to hold tenaciously to what pastor/Alfa has been fed to them. ...... Science will make us understand our world and how to better relate with our environment while Religion is describing our environment with respect to the designer of such environment ..... The purpose of religion is to explain God/Deity/Supreme Being and not detail our environment to us while the purpose of Science is to logically explain our environment without attaching any cognizance to God but interrelationships of elements in the environment and so on....... I personally use all knowledge I gathered or acquired to acknowledge the supreme designer behind KNOWLEDGE itself ..... Science makes one understand concept of God better but unfortunately it makes other believe in non existence of God. |
Re: The Sciences Discussion Thread. by johnydon22(m): 9:22pm On Jun 21, 2015 |
Chrisbenogor:Yes bro that is why i first referred to any explanation we would postulat as a hypothesis. . . we first need to personal study the hanging gardens then try and demonstrate the plausibility of our hypothesis maybe by a simulated version or something . . only then can we refer to it as a theory that may be near in explaining the garden. . |
Re: The Sciences Discussion Thread. by Chrisbenogor(m): 9:28pm On Jun 21, 2015 |
johnydon22:Exactly, actually you find that the world of finding out what happened can be very interesting. With data you try to deduce what happened, you avoid traps like “Correlation does not imply causation” Anyways I will watch from the sidelines as you guys talk of esoteric stuff. I am looking for a street way to explain to a kid why our DSTV satellites face the same direction even though the earth is spinning. He asked uncle is it that the DSTV stations are in heaven |
Re: The Sciences Discussion Thread. by Nobody: 9:28pm On Jun 21, 2015 |
SIRANDREWS:lol, The universe is not massive. It is you and I that are small. We can explore our galaxy as soon as we break the light speed barrier. This may be in a thousand years, or less, or more. We are already investing. Yes, it is even said that it takes a certain level of IQ to understand it. Yes, it might. This speculative phenomena is called the big crunch. 2 Likes 1 Share |
