heryyy: Lol at gurus in the house. At this stage there are no gurus as vos brain don scatter. Your age don't matter and no one can tell u if you have a chance or not. Just apply with GENUINE documents, backed up with a well constructed grammatical blunder free sop and u are good to go. It's not late you can still apply cos the max processing time us 8 weeks as per cic.gc.ca |

@heryyy There are some information that you still need to provide for people to give you good answers. Are you are graduate if YES i think you choosing undergraduate course in Canada might be an issue because you are suppose to show academic progression and also if you are a graduate the course your are choosing should be related to what you studied in school or your work experience if you are working. |

GboyegaD: You're on point, that's what was stated on the attached doc I sent to Chrigo.. They advised PhD students to apply via General express entry FSWP if they qualify, I guess they'll now be taking the IELTS exams this time around unlike before |

berexio1: Hello, I have no idea what upfront medical means, can you please enlighten me, this will help alot Thanks |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by Onyeoma3: 8:35am On Jun 22, 2015 |
hayqinsbFX: Nice then... Attach the CAC7, then in the affidavit of support, your dad should clearly state it "I am the sole owner of the company (see attached the CAC7 i.e. Particulars of directors) and my son will acquire a substantial portion of the share allotments upon completion of his program". That has automatically taken care of those reasons as well.... Get the affidavit of support notarized by a notary public. Endeavor to make that part very bold... He could add towards the end... I anticipate a positive response as I long to see my son being active in this company as soon as possible upon the completion of his program. 2 Likes |

heryyy:It can help speeden the process, everyone does medicals at some point in the application. So with upfront medicals I.e taking ur medical test at the designated hospital before u are called to do so and attaching the e-medical paper they give u in your application online. And voala, u just simply wait for a passport request...Its a risk worth taking if u are quite sure of the outcome. You sound like a newbie, you should take ur time to cross ur Ts and make sure u have tackled any loophole in ur app before u submit. Read some pages from this thread to be sure. Cheers! |

I have done exactly that...instead I stated that I am the heir apparent of the company just after stating he is the sole owner... I think I am good to go... Aabout the notarisation? I already have an affidavit of support...What wud a. Notary public do to that...is he bigger than the court.. I really want to get the concept of a notary public. Thanks onyeoma3 Onyeoma3: 1 Like |

hayqinsbFX:I suggested a good way to tackle your issues in a previous post it is a logical and tailored treatment for your case, guess you are yet to read and you are not obligated to adhere to it though. You can scream, shout and wail that you are the heir to the company it only exudes a feeling of entitlement when you say it and not your father more so when you are not even a director with the company yet to show you are in the grand scheme of things when it is time to change guard, rather any such claim should be coming from your father, your SOP should be more on why the particular program, the advanced knowledge it would bring and how when you complete it and return to Nigeria you would apply the knowledge to improve and increase the company's management and revenue respectively. Notary public and High court both serve same purpose it's a matter of preference and perception by a few that since Notary public is more expensive then it is better. 1 Like |

Onyeoma3: Senior Man, Na $17,000 plus guarantee of Assistanships in the second year (My supervisor actually tried his best to get more funds, but that fell through). Anyway, I had extra funds to present in my last app, my main issues now is to prove some kind of home tie, and bridge the one year gap I had after NYSC (I covered it in my SOP without adding letters to back it up), but maybe the VO wanted concrete proof of that. |

I applied in May for my visa via online route but no decision has been reached. There was a little gap in my employment then (in May) which resulted in me not including any employment details. However, I have employment now and payslips for <4months. I am really expectant of my initial application because it is pretty solid except the employment blemish. Thinking ahead, if my initial application was "delayed", having my new employment details I plan on immediately reapplying. But the conundrum is do I complete my Medical Test now before the VO makes a decision. For 2 reasons 1. If initial application is successful I'll quickly submit when requested by CIC. 2. Use it for upfront medical for my subsequent but immediate application to follow. These two measures are ploys to accelerate my application decision. House, please take time out of your busy schedule to share your views. PO. |

hayqinsbFX: I advise you get it notarized. Notary public is recognized internationally while court affidavit is not much recognized outside the shores of naija. When someone notarizes a document, he can be sued for any statement he made in there if he lies. I notarized my affidavit of support and did court affidavit on the originals of landed and company documents. A quick question : When sending a copy of your documents to schools abroad for admission, why don't you get an affidavit from a high court... Whereas they recognize a notary public to the fullest? At this point bro, try and get everything right... And you'll surely smile with your TRV in few weeks time. Go for a Notary public 1 Like |

C3PO:You need to know that for upfront medical, an e-medical paper is handed to u, bt for medical instruction from CIC, the hospital forwards ur results to them..I don't know if what u suggested can suffice..Maybe those who have actually been in this situations can help out. |

hayqinsbFX:The Gold standard for having your documents recognised internationally can be a Notary Public or to have the Legalisation Department of the Embassy or High Commission (if it provides legalisation of documents services) of the Country you wish to send those documents to authenticate and attest to its veracity before sending it or in some cases you will be expressly instructed/required to do it at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja and I reiterate that A sworn Affidavit of Support at a Federal High Court in Nigeria is just as good as one from a Notary Public as you are using it to apply to CIC, Lagos and do not let any one tell you otherwise, I am yet to see anyone refused by CIC for their Affidavit of Support being sworn at a Federal High Court, Heck some peeps like @pchax and a few others got their TRV with just a Declaration of Support with no Sworn affidavit or Notary Public. A VO is more interested in knowing if your study application shows academic progression from one level to another, you have adequate funds to cover your studies and home ties and not where your affidavit was sworn. I do not recall you stating Affidavit sworn in Lagos as one of the reasons for your refusal. Instead of looking for a Notary Public spend that time and more typing, editing, updating, proof reading for errors and finally arriving at an SOP that addresses issues from your prior application but if a Notary Public is your preference then go right ahead to do it. 4 Likes |

It is stated on the passport request letter that "cic cannot issue a visa beyond the expiry date on the passport" So the answer to your question is NO. If your program extends beyond 2017, you will need to renew your visa while in school kol1234: |
