With all due respect sir this is quite unfair. I sense a lot of biasness in this result because these score are way beyond low nd I would like the moderators to loom into this. Even the 2nd speaker for OAU wasn't actively involved in d countering session, isn't that supposed to have a mark attached to it? D judge asked questions from both speakers from funaab and only from one speaker from OAU. I sense a foul play here

Bro calm down……

A careful look at the sum total of scores from the concluded group stages, one would notice that two schools perform a bit more than average and based on schedule, a debate match will be held between these schools.

FUNAAB vs IBADANPOLY

It's nothing, you can't expect fair result all the time in any competition and I'm not implying that this result is fair or not. To frank, I don't really know I just accept what comes my way. But when one of the judges is OAU alumni, we need to ask questions. It's like webb(from England) being the official ref. for the match between Man. utd vs Barcelona. And how can OAU be the only school that was so lucky to be supporting every motion from the start, and I think they got lucky and OAU placing over ABU also show how lucky they can be. But I guess the result is not really that bad. I do appreciate the effort of the judges and the coordinators, it has never been easy judging or coordinating events.

I know you are an alumni. You shouldn't get me wrong bro, I don't have any issue with today's result and I am being sincere. At least, I respected Jarus so much, I religiously believe in him, in fact, I look up to him. So we all got what we deserved today. But you know sometimes we felt that the result of things did not actually reflects our efforts. This is the reason why Nunu wasn't that happy with the result. I had to encouraged the team not to give up and that we can win because the stance we took was a difficult one, I guess Nunu put so much effort, and he believed he deserved better. And sometimes, our best is never good enough.

I am saying my opinion, in case of next time. In a fixture like this, a school should not be supporting the motion in all its fixtures, I am so sure you oblivious of that, and it is not your fault, it is big task, you might not see that. And an alumni should not be judging. I mean, so that you can protect the integrity of the competition, and that someone somewhere will not have a reason to doubt the integrity of the result.

On behalf of my partner and myself, we are very sorry if you think we doubted the integrity of the Judges. Thanks

Is this fellow called Pseudonomer serious?

This is why I select activities I engage in on NL.

Can someone tell the young man that OAU has never won any debate I judge, since last yer, including this one? Can someone tell the fool that I was the Judge 2 that scored OAU 69 and FUNAAB 70? How is it my business if the other judge, whom I don't even know, scored OAU higher and eventually won the aggregate.

This is why I keep quiet most times, I don't really talk much if you know me in person reason being this. I may have to quit the debate. If you actually try to read my post, you will not resolve to "cursing". You actually call me a "fool". I don't believe you just said that. I don't believe that is coming from someone that mentor young fellows. I am highly disappointed, I don't care about the winning or not, I am a no face person on Nairaland. I only choose to compete because I believe I can learn more and put some of my skills into practice.

I am quitting this already. Thanks

Seriously, I'm shocked to see you guys think this way.... For christ sake, FUNAAB still tops the list...when you guys won, no one complained... Why bringing up issues now? ??
Your assumption about oau and jarus is actually very wrong, jarus' judgments have never favoured oau... In fact, i often wish for another judge.
You guys talk like you're the only one putting real effort into this debate... Every debater have been working tirelessly. ...
@Nunushokoto... You claim that the judge didn't rebut my partner's points... well you're wrong, she did and i think that's fair enough.

This shouldn't even result into any form of disagreement cos this is a platform for learning and not a means for showing which school is best... We've all represented our schools well so far... kudos to all.

Your comment was highly unsportmanly and borders on bad loss, especially for a team that has won all but this, but that was none of my business. I was mad at the fool that attributed his loss to my being OAU graduate as if I wasn't the Judge in all the previous debates that OAU lost, including this one (by my judging scores alone).

I don't joke with my integrity and fairness at all.

And I don't suffer fool gladly either.

If you will not take your time to read my post again, and try to be logically about it. I don't care about the score, I don't even check it most times. I will always stand on this point, I don't how you see it. It is wrong for Goodluck Jonathan to be the judge in a debate between University of Portharcourt vs University of Ibadan. If Uniport won even if they deserve it, some people from ui will not accept, they will say Goodluck is biased. It is fundamental, everyone should understand this.

It is not about anything, it is about what is not norm. It is funny, I have to be called a fool for this.

I honestly wanted to refrain from responding to your displeasures at the results.
But if you insist....

Yes I gave you the lowest score because despite your relatively sound argument, you didn't put enough effort in this debate. I was disappointed. If it were a blog your personal opinion would have sufficed, but it's not. I needed facts and you provided none. Then I managed to scrimp out a question from the very scanty argument you posted so you could further defend your stance, and yet your response wasn't very impressive.

Unlike you, your opponent made good effort and his scores reflects that.

Same as OAU. Samtolly posed a more persuasive argument than Miracy did.

It's all based on our discretion and your power of persuasion. If you murk it up, you take what you get.

By the way, I gave all 4 debaters a question contrary to your initial accusation based on unfairness and bias.

Take your corrections and try harder next time rather than cry over spilled milk. None of your judges are personal friends with the debaters in this section and I don't believe anyone fancies having their integrity questioned with baseless accusations.

THIS HAS BEEN TAKEN TOO FAR. i have read through the arguements of each rep and i can say that none of you guys is judged unfairly. in the debate between ABUZARIA and IBPOLY, one of ABU's rep did not take part in the rebutting stage and still have good score (even more than me. according to the judgement of one of the judges). nunushokoto, you dont need to dwell much on your score. what i expected of you is to work on your weaknesses and bring out a better you in the subsequent debate. @pseudonomer, your choice of words is not so encouraging. your essay is one of the essays i am always eager to peruse. even, if at all you have the need to register your displeasure, you should have done so with diplomacy. well, let everything slid; you have qualified for the final stage already. peace.
