Hello everyone, I went to d embassy yesterday and I was given a paper by the CGI staff stating that I wouldn't have the interview yesterday and also my fee receipt will be reactivated today. But till now, no show. what should I do? Anyone experiencing that? |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by buzibiza: 11:27am On Jun 23, 2015 |
MaxiDj:u will have to read older posts to have a complete understanding. You should request for a scanned copy of the i20 so u can use the sevis number and the university id frm the document to pay for sevis and also do ur visa application. However, if u gonn receive it in a few days, jst wait then. U can pay for ur visa fee (31,200; Intl passport and photocopy of Intl passport) in gtb bank 4now 2 Likes 1 Share |

SAMadex11: It depends on how much an hour they pay you. For 10 dollars an hour, that would be $200 per week. Here, paychecks are paid every 2 weeks. That is, every 2 weeks, your total hours worked are added up and multiplied by your hourly rate and that becomes your pre-tax paycheck for that 2 weeks. From the total, say, $400 for the two weeks for 40 hours worked your take home paycheck after tax is deducted could be anywhere between $330 to $350. Thus, in a month you're earning about $700+, which is barely enough to cover your rent and maybe feeding, if you cook at home. Rents range from as low as $300/$400 per month to as high as $1,500 per month depending on the type it is. Renting a room in a house tends to be cheaper than renting an apartment (aka flat in Nigeria). As for working 20 hours every week, you are not even sure of working full 20 hours as it depends on the place you're working at, your supervisor (if she is willing to let you work up to 20 hours), if there are many students hired who equally need hours as well) etc. Also, lunch break times, usually 30 minutes or 1 hour, are equally deducted from hours worked. Assuming you get a job at the diners on campus, and your shifts are 7am to 1pm, 3 times a week. Each shift is a 6-hour shift and in a week that is 18 hours. Also, let's say that for each shift, you get a 30-minute break. Thus, in total 1 hour 30 mins out of 18 hours for the week is your break time you spent eating, relaxing, chatting, etc and is deducted, leaving your effective hours worked per week as 16 hours 30 minutes or 33 hours per 2 weeks, which will be multiplied by your hourly rate, and tax deducted to get your final take-home paycheck amount. This is America. Time is money. Now, you can work hard at your job and talk with your supervisor to extend your shift hours such that each shift is 7 or 8 hours or give you an extra shift(s) so that after break times are deducted, your final total is at your desired 20 hours per week or 40 hours per 2 weeks. 6 Likes |

Richiy: Hello, You are on the right path. Please, if I may ask, why those schools? Instead of circumscribing yourself, why not look at other schools that will take GRE from you. See, the idea of MAT is somehow - at least, to me. Even for your course, most schools would suggest you write subjects-based GRE instead of MAT. I am saying this because I am familiar with your terrain - a graduate of English. Ma, your chances are limited with what you have here. Don't let it be. In fact, there are schools that have Professional Writing as a major in their Department of English and all they want is your GRE. Consider this. To cap it: On one hand, if you are going ahead with your GRE plans, great. On the other hand, if you are going with the schools requirement, fine. Just give your all to whichever one suits you. I wish you well. 2 Likes |

hello guys, For those that got their visa fee receipts reactivated, will they be required to input the reference number printed on the visa fee receipt from gt bank, when booking appointments or can the appointment-booking be done automatically without inputting the reference number? |

Visa approved at Lagos consulate this morning. I was the first person to be interviewed at about 8am. I was called at window 10 where a guy with plenty beard was. Here are the convo: VO: What are you going to the U.S for? Me: Am going to the U.S for my masters in Engineering technology V.O: How did you know about Middle Tennessee State University (mtsu ) Me: I did a research online using Google.com, gradschool.com and usnews.com to narrow my search to my area of interest. V.O: How many schools did u apply to? Me: I applied to three schools V.O: Which other two did u apply to and how many you got admitted to? Me: North Dakoda state university and Georgia Tech and I also got admitted in North dakoda (framed answer tho lol ) V.O: So why mtsu? Me: Mtsu has a curriculum which fit in to my area of interest also there is good student to faculty ratio.. and I was fascinated about the research work going on in the department by Prof. Cheng which is on computer-integrated manufacturing (Vo was nodding like agama lol ) VO: When did you pass out from UG Me: November 2012 VO: What have you been doing (As expected) Me: I went for youth service the following year which I completed last year 2014,since then I have been working in an engineering firm. VO: What is your responsibility at the work (expected that also ) Me: I work as a technical engineer which I perform electrical wiring in the panel, testing and troubleshooting of electrical panel. VO: So you will be working in school (referring to my GA ) Me: Yes Sir. (I didn't understand the question initially ) VO: What was your undergraduate major? (Last question ) Me: Electrical Engineering. VO passed my i-20 to me without my passport and was typing oo (for my mind I know e don pure ),he now brought out the pick-up letter and circled a location there that I should pick my Visa there. I said thank you Sir and I bounced out lol. I was not asked to show any document and was not asked who my sponsor is (He saw that I got funding from the school ). Wanna thank God for the favour and also to all the gurus on this thread shout out to the following peopale; msnas (Thanks alot ma'am ), slimmy05 (Always there to help ), innovateame (my tutor, I appreciate bro ), profojah (expecting yours too bro ), walspring and other gurus here.
