Each about to cross cost #10,000 x 4 =#40,000.

Please where did you get the 'about to cross' and what breed are they? I have constructed pens and about to stock.
The pen cost #2,500 per month by 12 months =30,000.

I have a friend in the farm taking care of them.

Feeding and medication , so far I've spend #6,000. We've deworm them last week. This week we'll give them iron, multivitamin & LA before they come on heat.

I intend going into breeding and fattening.
Your most advise is needed.
Thanks to all our oga in the house.

Thanks for digging up this thread again. I dug to the 4th page before I gave up. Nice to be back, Lagbaja your analysis na baba! Deji is setting the standard of business integrity.
My breeder pigs are sired by large white and landrace boars while our sows could be pure large whites or landraces but usually our sows are hybrids. We call them breeders becos we selected them from good producers with excellent mothering traits and good lean growth. They have a minimum of 14 teats for both male and female. I will share pics later.
The brother who inquired about piggery biz, I would suggest fattening model for quicker returns except you have the patience to wait for 2 years. Starting a poultry or fish farm with a piggery isn't a good idea except you have enough money for each enterprise. A piggery/poultry combo is great if well planned with adequate distance between them . it is great for cash flow and cash is KING in this business.
Wish you all the best!

rice husk is highly fibrous( indigestible of feed portion). it can be used in breeding sow to get rid of excess fat. it should never be used in large quantity in growers feed. will u success.

rice husks are the hard covering of rice grain while rice bran is the layer underneath the husk.but in Nigeria both bran and husks are processed as rice bran.

From my lab analysis of Rice husk, the results shows it has 33percent of crude fibre and 4.7percent of Protein. Alot of farmers dont use it or believe in it... i will say a max ratio of 15percent in your feed ration; thats if u aint adding any other fibre content ingredient.

Guys, lets keep this page alive, lets commit to sharing our weekly experience on the farm.

Hello farmers in d house.
This is my 1st time posting here.
We have owned a pig farm for about 8yrs now. But recently just started having problems with gilts being served. This is d 3rd time in d past few months dis is happening. When gilts are served, at about 4-6 weeks, a few start trembling and seem paralyzed in d hind limbs, tho dey are still able to feed and stand up for a few seconds. Some recover but either miscarry or have stillbirth or low litters of 3-4 (after much struggle)
After d whole episode, d pigs seem not try to be able to ever recover, the look lean an malnourished but agile. The whole thinformation is disheartening.
Pls does anyone have experience with dis type of problem? We need help ASAP.
Thanks!
where is your farm and what do you feed? I had same experience last year and i suspected mouldy feed. I would suggest you invite a vet.
