there is something about Brasil that makes this country special, for me, it is not something i can pinpoint, it is just the whole experience that was special in so many ways. i found myself in a country that reminded me so much of Africa, a country where people live a similar life of Africans, a country where the lower income people live similarly to Africans......and yet a country where its people look at life in such a POSITIVE manner. yes there are many issues of violence etc, but i have figured out a long time ago that there is NO COUNTRY in this world where everything is positive. everywhere you will go, you will find some plus and some minuses, the catch is to find the country that has the most pluses and the less minuses......and Brasil has a LOT of pluses.

as a man, being in a country where there are tons of beautiful women is very important as i dont want to be competing in the clubs/streets etc with the masses. so if the percentage of gorgeous women is very high, then automatically it is less stressful to get access to them. in France, you have to bloody dance on your head in order to get a contact and impress beautiful women that think so high of themselves. but who can blame them if/when there is only 5 of them in a club of about 300 peeps? you see this is where the catch is: in Brasil, the percentage of fantastic women is VERY high, so these women dont need to act high and mighty because they know that a simple look around, will produce many women that can out-stage her.....so women there stay on your level, rather than the silly ones abroad that play hard to get for nothing.

also another thing is that Brazilian men dont value Brazilian beauty (like we foreigners do), they have seen it all and done it all that a beautiful sexy woman is not such a big deal to them..........since there are so many in that country. so yes they will want to approach the gals but only for sex, and not for a r/ship. many will openly tell you that they would rather date an ugly SMART woman (and Bleep around with the beautiful sexy ones) rather than the opposite. we all know that a man fulfilled in love, is a man half way there.

when i lived in the favelas, most people knew i was a foreigner, they used to call me "el Angolano", because they all automatically believed that i was Angolan due to my fukced up Portuguese. the life i lived amongst the less fortunate was perfect to me, the kids there would follow me around shouting "hello!!!!", and try to scam me out of some change. i understood their lifestyle fully, i also enjoyed it fully. the funniest part is that living in a favela is the SAFEST thing possible (when it comes to robbery and home invasion) i could leave my door open and run down the store, and nobody would even try to steal my stuff, and they all knew what i had since they all saw me moved in. you see, many of these people are into crime (robbery etc) but they go to the posh placces like Copacabana to do their crime, they never shiit in their own kitchen, so living with them meant that i was safe in that sense. coming back from a drunken night out wasnt a problem, even if the place was completely dark.

dont misunderstand me, favelas can become quite nasty and overunned with floodings in the streets up to your knees during the rainy season, but its all good to me because the constant yearly warm weather is another PLUS in my book. although it can be quite warm from November till March, the rest of the year has great temperature. so in my 18months stay, i think i wore a jacket 3/4 times only. i spent most of my time wearing bermuda and flip flops during the day, and wearing proper shoes when going clubbing/partying at night. life felt so much EASIER, so much SIMPLER, and although there will alwasy be some worries of some sort or another, they felt to have been overshadowed by the laidback lifestyle. so i found myself thinking differently, seeing life from a different perspective, understanding the reason why many viewed life the way they did. imagine a place where you didnt have to be rich or even powerful to BE TRULY HAPPY.

flashing your cash in Brasil is not only WRONG in so many levels, but also a turn off to most. if you are in a group of friends, it is not well viewed to buy all the rounds (just because you can). i learned that it was viewed negatively, and it was better to buy one round (or a bottle) and stop, rather than paying for everyone's drink the whole night long . yes, you may attract some fleas (aka goldiggaz hunting for a foreigner) but the majority of local women are happy with an ok guy. unfortunately, Brazilian women can be very jealous and demanding when in a full r/ship, so if that is what you are after then you must be direct and honest STRAIGHT from the start as many may be mislead. there are 2 types of r/ship: the full r/ship aka walking hand in hand, we are exclusively dating etc. AND the noviazgo type where we are dating/fukcing but not exclusively and nothing serious.

also for the duration of my stay in Brazil, i was never EVER asked for my passport or ID, something that many hustlers would gladly cherish. but if you are in the mood, the country is next to some great countries to discover: Peru, Chile; Colombia, Venezuela etc..... i mean really, what could one ask for? and as Brazil is getting stronger and stronger in this economic world, being in one of the BRIC country can only be a PLUS.........and if that wasnt enough for you, here is another clue: anywhere around the world, your saving account will give you a return of 2-3% PER YEAR(if you are lucky), in Brasil you can get 1% PER MONTH (or 15% per yr)......you do the math playaz!!!!!

^^^ no worries bro, as you cansee i am very passionate about traveling (or talking about it). the new adventure is at the moment in Denmark Copenhagen (just voted the happiest place in the world lol), but so far nothing exotic about the place as the weather is not that great......but i keep my spirit up nevertheless.i was in Germany for the last couple of weeks and i have to say that i am still not impressed with the country.

i only speak French, English, Norwegian and Spanish fluently......i also speak Portuñol but thats because it was very difficult for me to shift from Spanish to Portuguese in Brasil (and both language are very similar in writing, but sounds different)......... and i dabble in Chinese/Japanese.

I'm not quite the traveler Mr BrownJay is but I have lived (a year or more) in five countries. The US and the rest in Europe - so most of my travel experience has been in Europe, some Asia (Hong Kong), the US/Canada and as I'm now in Naija for the moment, I'll be doing some extensive travel of Naija through work.

Last summer was hilarious though; Poland and the Czech Republic. Prague is super touristy now and expensive compared to the rest of the region so I did not enjoy it as much. I found Warsaw dreary and Krakow is almost Prague-levels of touristy. Very few blacks in Poland but wow I got HIT on by some men in Poland. HIT on, which stunned me, considering that most Polish men have girlfriends at 18 and marry them by 24. Also endless amounts of vodka, as I was hanging with Poles. ENDLESS. But I had more fun in the Czech Republic, in Olomouc btw Krakow and Prague. LOVED it, Moravian wine, as much pig as you can eat, delicious beer. I got stared at a bit much though, considering I was traveling solo but managed to link up with some fellow tourists for some SERIOUS drinking, I even developed a taste for Becherovska. Hoping to try to go back this summer, and also hit Hungary.

Germany kind of sucks but Berlin is amazing. AMAZING. complete blur. I used to date a guy who lived in NRW but that region sucks. Except Cologne, but it's not that exciting either.

Nice thread.

I love to visit new places and going by that I've never been to the same place twice (except once). One of the nicest cities I've ever visited is Chicago (I was there 07 I think). Forget NYC with its boring linear sky scrapers, Chicago is full of architechtural eye candy lol just beautiful all around. Maybe I loved it so much because its similar in 'feel' to my own town Boston. Plenty to do - visit the museums, zoos & aquarium, visit landmarks like the Sears Tower (3rd tallest bld in the world), plenty of stores if shopping is your thing, attend a sporting event (baseball, basketball etc), check out grant park where Obama gave his victory speech in 08 or gorgeous millenium park, take pictures by the wacky Chicago egg, eat at a variety of diverse restaurants - we ate at this Greek Restaurant close to the sears tower and I have dreamt about that place ever since lol. And when you're tired, take a stroll at the beach that is easily walkable from downtown or go to a fair at the pier. And if you're there with a partner, I highly recommend doing one of the many cruises on Lake Michigan that offers breathtaking views of the city especially at night. And if you have extra cash, I beg you to stay at a sky scraper hotel with a city view - it is breathtaking at night lol and totally worth going to bed & waking up to bright sunshine with that as your backdrop.

Aight I'll stop now (suprised I remember this much lol). I'll see if I can add pictures when I get home.

TIP: One tip we always use when travelling - be nice and smile to the person at the counter when checking in at your hotel! I cannot mention how many countless room upgrades and 'honeymoon' suites we've scored by simply being nice & treating them well. The person behind the counter has a ton of power in what room they put you in and it costs them nothing to upgrade you for free as long as rooms are available. You can buy the least expensive room at a 4-5 star hotel and take a chance you'll get upgraded.
