In many occassions i've seen how yoruba women,young ladies and young girls do cook, and it always makes me feel bad whenever i see their style of cooking and the way they cook their food(s)...

Now let me start with introduction

i am from Ilaje local governmen area in Ondo State...
Now the reasons,

(1) The use of maggi: Yoruba women believe that without maggi one cannot make a good soup or food,so with this outrageous reason they tends to apply more than five(5) cube of maggi in a soup or in general food(like beans and others). But they never knew that soup or food without salt is useless even if they apply twenty(20) maggi(s) and besides maggi was made to compliment the role of salt in a soup or in a food, but nevertheless one can still cook a good food with salt but without maggi... In my local government area, some people don't like using maggi they prefer using salt only, even if they are going to use maggi it would only be 1cube of maggi or half cube...

(2) Sea fish or Ice fish: Sea fish or ice fish are fish you can't just cook anyhow without proper preparation. Yoruba women never care the way they cook sea fish or ice fish,they won't cut them properly,they won't wash them properly...they just put them inside pot and that's all,then after cooking,the soup or the food will be giving out another bad odour but they won't care once the soup or food crosses their throat...

(3)Food Ingredients: ingredients has always been yoruba(women) problem. They tends to buy #500 food ingredients to cook one ice fish either titus,sawa and others... Thanks

the fact that i mention yoruba women doesn't mean all yoruba women are bad in cooking... Please don't get me wrong

I am a Veteran of all kinds of Buka, from Hausa, ibo, yoruba, oyinbo, Calabar,Jamaica, Chinese to The Ghanaian ones.

They all taste like food to me.

this is not meant for ondo ladies it is meant for all yoruba women,they don't know how to cook. Currently i'm in lagos and dat is how dey cook too... In yoruba land it is only Ilaje women knows how to cook

Guy sharap there! am sure u have sampled all the yoruba women to know that all of them cannot cook... only ilaje women can cook....
please wake up! am not from ilaje but then i hardly put maggi in foods...so far it is prepared well..it tastes nice..i know several ilaje women who cant do without maggi..i have stayed with them even the ones from Ajue and Ese odo

I beg to differ on this one...my dad is ibo,mum from akwa ibom and I was born n bred in lagos state. I have heard so many people say yoruba women can't cook and I don't agree. They have this peculiar way of cooking that deals with the taste buds. eg. .. Their buka stew which is peculiar to them,ewedu and many other foods I can't begin to list here. Akwa ibom and igbo women believe so much in ingredients. you would see so many obstacles in their soups,stock fish,dry fish and crayfish have different flavors hence the need for less Maggi. I know of an akwa ibom woman who uses 10 cubes and more to cook soup tho. This kinda stereotype is just bad for the world...

This is total rubbish. All u wrote up there are fallacy. I haven't seen where a yoruba woman will put 5cubes of maggi in a stew or soup. Am sure the Hausas uses maggi more than any other tribe.

it all boils down to preference. ..u like your meat roasted,someone else doesn't. doesn't take anything away from their cooking skills. as for their stew not drying well,i don't believe that...ask any yoruba about omi Obe. they'll tell u it's dried tomato paste which is usually the basis for most foods. most people err when they discover another person has another method of cooking by saying the person doesn't know how to cook. If u travel a lot,Ull discover so many things n Learn new ways of cooking stuff...
