The Presidency has criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over its demand that former President Goodluck Jonathan should be given credit for funds recently approved to be shared between Nigeria’s states and the Federal Government.

The Presidency also accused the PDP of creating unnecessary controversy over “the well-intentioned effort” of the President.

This was contained in a statement released by Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina. It reads:

“Mr. Metuh’s claim that a significant amount of the funds came from savings accumulated in the Excess Crude Account and handed over to the Buhari administration is completely false and deliberately intended to mislead the public.”

“As we clearly stated yesterday (on Tuesday), the funds approved by President Buhari for sharing to the three tiers of government on Monday came entirely from dividends and taxes paid to the Federation Account by the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Company, not from the Excess Crude Account.”

“The disbursed NLNG dividends and taxes were paid into the Federation Account in June this year and confirmed by the Central Bank’s statement to the Federal Government on July 7, 2015.”

“The funds cannot, therefore, be considered ‘savings’ by the Jonathan administration which left office in May, 2015, as disingenuously claimed by Mr. Metuh.”

“Instead of being repeatedly impugned and castigated by the PDP and its agents for honestly telling Nigerians that the nation’s treasury has been immensely depleted and its resources looted or squandered under previous administrations, President Buhari should be commended for the openness, transparency and accountability which he has now brought to the management of national funds.”

“It was in keeping with that disposition that the President promptly disclosed the accrual of the NLNG dividends and taxes to the Federation Account at his recent meeting with state governors and approved the convening of a special session of the FAAC to share it.”

“Mr. Metuh and others, who now ungratefully see Monday’s disbursement of the NLNG proceeds as their “legitimate” earnings and not a “bailout” from the Federal Government, may wish to tell Nigerians if such earnings were ever disclosed by the PDP Federal Government and paid to the states in the past.”

“The public may also wish to note that the Buhari administration itself has never referred to the actions which it was taken to ease the current financial difficulties of states as a “bailout.”

The funds were approved for sharing by Buhari on Monday, July 6.

Thank u o, my broda. They have their money sharing formula sef. As soon as it is ready, they apply it. #looters.

Metuh is just a silly noisemaker. I don't know what makes him think Nigerians, after 16yrs of PDP's misrule, will take dem seriously.

But to be honest, I don't think it's the APC and the Presidency that should take on Olisa Methu and the PDP. It should the Nigerians who voted for CHANGE who's minds the PDP is trying to poison in just less than 2months of our taking a decision. Why is the Man who Managed me for 16yrs and left me in shambles is not allowing me and my decision settle down and focus? Is Methu insulting Nigerians by saying to us " You People are foolish" voting Mr Buhari and the APC? It's our decision to vote buhari and it will be our decision to boot him out when we are not convinced in a reasonable time, the way we booted GEJ out. What we did to GEJ and Methu we can do to Buhari and Lai Mohammed. Let us breathe pls Methu.

Olisa Metuh is a blockhead, always wailing like the wailing wailer he is. If the country could get this much from the tax of NLNG alone, I wonder the amount of money made in the customs, NNPC and other MDAs that were not remitted into the federation account during the 5 years reign of the curse of Jonathan.

God bless the President.

Is it not the ECA that Okonjo and GEJ were busy squandering without FAAC approval?

PDP can't even reason straight anymore.

I have said it before and I will repeat it again.. Methu is using " Sunday sunday" football philosophy. If you go to primary schools were traders and very busy people rush to play early sunday morning football to keep fit... you hear the coaches and bench warmers shouting at their defenders and mid fielders " force am play nonsense...force am play nonsense" they want the attacker to lose focus and start running around with the ball instead facing the net and scoring. Methu is technically instigating Nigerians to force Buhari to " play nonsense" but I can assure him of a Buhari Hat-trick. Mr Olisa " sunday sunday" methu.

metuh has forgotten that his clueless predecessor borrowed money to pay workers before he eventually headed back to otuoke. If there was any money left in the ECA, FA, I don't think all the borrowing by the past administration would have ever come in place.

Let them hear!. Oh yea supporters of GEJ and the PDP. The vaudeville of pundits and carpetbaggers should take this to heart and know that if it was under the administration of the individual they so support with open blindness, the money would have been squandered!.

Patience is virtue. Its better to be slow and tactical than fast and clueless. And to all those who are screaming about BH bombings, know that a plan is being formulated, the best plan to tackle suicide bombings are not made over night.

We have a president who is a retired 4 star general, not a Phd holder who can't even address a crowd properly!. Once again, "patience is virtue". A virtue that GEJ's wife doesn't possess anyway. Lol. gringringrin

Ministers are very important and I mean very very important to the life of any administration. That we all know. But what I have failed to understand is the fact that somebody is trying to tell me investors are waiting for Ministers to be appointed before they decide whether to invest in our economy or not. That is what I don't and can't get. Is an investor investing in a Minister or our economy? A very viable economic destination like Nigeria for that matter. Between a Perm Secretary and a Minister who should any investor even place his trust more on; considering the fact that the President have a 100% support for the perm secretary? I think those cabals who invest are waiting to see the Usuall "Dubious" ministers they do Nocturnal deals with than Perm Secretary who is not a politician and will always think of his pension and gratuity and is "permanent" player and is more careful to attempt " dubious" acts. Ministers will and must come but the platform and the new way of doing thins must be put in place beforehand. We all will know in what shape the perm secretary is handing over to a new minister and the minister will clearly tell us what he is taking over. The old way hasn't worked so let's try a new way. 3 months after every change a Perm secretary will manage a ministry before a New minister. We no dey rush. The perm secretary are Nigerians and are qualified as well. Afterall they are just acting for a period and will still be there when the minister resumes. It will help check and balance.

PDP must think that most Nigerians are as stuupid as the TANoids they deceive having succeeded in pauperizing us for so long.

During their time, did we ever get to know how much was remitted by NLNG in tax and returns? Not even the governors were able to get such information from the then FG. What happened to all such remittances from other government's parastatals and agencies?

PDP was a curse to Nigeria but we have to continue to thank our God for delivering us from their claws.

No doubt we have a very transparent President. NLNG yearly pays the Nigerian states dividends and huge taxes into the federation account but we never heard of such all throughout Jonah-daft Presidency. The drunkard will receive it quietly and refuse to disclose it to the states. Buhari received it in June and immediately disclosed it all. I am really happy that the finances of my dear country is in safe hands. I expect the states also to be responsible and follow Generals exam plenary leadership.

Normaly I don't reply people like you on Nairaland. But I will say this: It does'nt matter whether the monies came in june or july, all assets that generate funds are part of the Nation's treasury. License fees that will be paid to the federal goverment next year is still part of the treasury.
