cybug:Hm, that 3yrs alone is an issue. Even Vetassess finds it difficult to equate 4yrs Nigerian degree to 4yrs Australian degree. Well, I would say you should try. It is a risk you need to consider. |

akinnawou: Check page 18-19 on EA assessment guide, there is sample of CDR there. You can use that as a guide. https://www.engineersaustralia.org.au/sites/default/files/shado/Membership/Stage%201%20Assessment/stage_1_guide__-_sept_2014.pdf 2 Likes |

akinnawou: To qualify for 189/190/489, you need 60 points. The difference is how the 60pts are gotten. With 189, you need to score 60 on the points table, excluding state nomination points. With 190/489, the 60 can include state nomination points, which is 5 and 10 respectively. |

Personally,I do not see any issue since EA says, " to be recognised as Professional Engineer, you must have completed 4 years Australian Bachelor degree in Engineering or overseas equivalent". |

@NNBB2012 and the house EA got back to me and said that my transcript is what will really be scrutinized so once it conforms to the standards they have set for a professional engineer then I'll be assessed as a professional engineer. I think y most people get associate degree assessment is due to some courses not done during the degree. all departmental courses done during my degree were also done in my ND. but I'll still send both for assessment. I'll suggest that everyone going for assessment shud try to find out courses being offered in that course around the world n try to make up for the ones not in their transcript. cos I think all assessing bodies compare the transcripts to a standard. |

ashioba: You will have to really do your homework very well if you want to immigrate to Australia as a lawyer - by that I mean you should read a lot on the topic. Believe me, it is quite tedious and may cost you a lot of money but besides that, it is possible. The following excerpt, from the link posted by NNBB2012, summarily explains the process as it applies to foreign lawyers (Please note that it was addressed to a UK qualified lawyer): As a lawyer you will of course be able to read the applicable Migration Regulations from which you will note that what is required is a positive skills assessment. The legislation does not explicitly require you to be admitted as a lawyer in Australia before you can be granted a 189 visa, but does require you to have a positive skills assessment, amongst other things. So, really the question is whether you can get a positive skills assessment without having been admitted as a lawyer in Australia. You have mentioned that you intend to apply for a skills assessment from either Queensland or New South Wales. On the Legal Profession Admission Board of NSW website,it says:http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/211160-solicitor-applying-visa-189-skills-assessment.html A colleague of mine just got his qualifications assessed by NSW LPAB, he is required to sit for 13 courses! When you consider it, it is similar to studying for the 3yr JD program. UTS is however arranging a boutique 2yr Masters course that will encompass these subjects. After he is done in two years, he will then be able to sit for the Practical Legal Training Course (PLT) - that's like going to the Law School all over again. I'm not too thrilled to apply for my assessment as it is - I will be doing so anyway as soon as I have the money. I'm not saying this to scare you. You see, the agents who encouraged us to apply for Masters here didn't warn us that the road to PR for lawyers, unlike the other professions, was going to be long and expensive. But what can I say, I have laid my hands on the plow, there is no looking back now. Best wishes in your quest for PR. 1 Like |

kubbiebrownie:If u can have ur transcript and make d body get u sth to show as evidence of program completion...no need to wait till November. I'm in this same situation... my certificate will be ready in January but once my project grade hits exams and records I call for my transcript and testimonial. |
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by kubbiebrownie(f): 2:26pm On Jul 10, 2015 |
ferdimako:b4 u can apply for ican transcript, you must have collected your certificate. That is the rule stated on their website. Certificate cannot b collected until induction which is in November. Lucky you wish ican cld do same |
