If I read the report correctly, it's 64months of unpaid allowances NOT salaries! And, these allowances could be Leave Allowance, Wardrobe Allowance, Transportation, Accomodation etc. Their demand should be explicitly stated. 1 Like |

Gbenu e so un,with your stable academic calendar, your school is still stuggling to attain 4th position in the latest ranking. Just tell me 2 uniqueness of the self-acclaimed 'bbF' ? Public debate/competiton the so called bBf is no where to be found,so stop sprewing thrash here, else .... Repping Great Ife till you realise Unilorin is a 'glorified secondary school'. #PeaceOut ayokunlei: 2 Likes |

The problem is simple. For 64 months.....NASU workers....non-acada staff....have not been paid their allowances. And all that is a result of there being no extra money for our universities. There is a solution 1.)Make Universities Private...ie privatize the universities. Redirect saved money to primary and secondary and technical education. 2)Increase school fees to N150000-200000 per annum on average. 3)Bring in a watchdog to watch how university monies are spent. 4.)Cut some university jobs....among teaching and non-teaching staff. Look my friends....we have no choice. Either Buhari finds N5-10 trillion naira over the next five to seven years for our universities.....or we raise fees.Nigeria does not have the money.....and oil prices are falling. |
Re: OAU To Be Shut Down Tomorrow by Nobody: 4:32am On Jul 13, 2015 |
RepEnugu: Blame PDP for not paying the allowances for 64 months. And for failing to fufil the 2009 agreement that promised N3trillion in four years for our universities. Am sure you were barking at ASUU back in the day for going on strike. This is why they go on strike...so that other unions do not have to. |

Re: OAU To Be Shut Down Tomorrow by emmasege: 4:40am On Jul 13, 2015 |
To set the record straight, most federal universities (if not all) do not pay the said allowance, and it is only proper for OAU NASU to network with their colleagues in other federal unis to embark on nationwide strike action (for federal univs alone). The allowance is expected to be paid to staff members from each University's IGR, which many federal Univs can't afford to pay because students go to school more or less free when comared with their counterparts in state-owned univs. NASU OAU should not punish those innocent students by unduly prolonging their academic programmes when their colleagues in other federal univs who may also collect the said allowance 'in the fullness of time' are still working. 1 Like |
