The worse thing that happened to the people of Imo State is Mallam Rochas Okorocha being elected as governor of Imo State. I have extended acts of pity to people of Imo State but stopped when the dumbass electorates re-elected the ingrate named Mallam Rochas Okorocha as governor. I would have preferred a goat to Rochas Okorocha as governor of Imo State.
Dede, stop sulking and accept the fact that Rochas will be your governor for another 4years. It's time for you to stop crying!

Dunno why children of nowadays enjoy insulting our elders on social networks. Whatever happened to our values as a people?

Well, if you don't like him, go and take ota pia pia. The people have spoken and you don't have a choice but live with that. Ihedioha was never a better choice. If Rochas hadn't won, Ihedioha would have. You had better live with the reality Rochas will maintain his position as governor or keep ranting for the next 4yrs.

Ford Ozumba brings Rescue Mission to Orlu Zone

Written by COLLINS Ughalaa Friday, 05 June 2015 10:04

Government all over the world operates through channels.
In Imo State, one of the institutions or channels of government that came to being in 2011 when the Rescue Mission Government began in the state was the creation of three mayoral affairs in the three zones of the state, viz: Orlu Zone Mayoral Affairs, Owerri Zone Mayoral Affairs and Okigwe Zone Mayoral Affairs. Each of the Mayoral Affairs was to coordinate or supervise the development efforts of the state government led by Governor Rochas Anayo Okorocha, who promised that his government would touch the lives of the common people, especially those in rural communities. And considering that Governor's dream to create a new city in Orlu, as part of his efforts to develop other parts of the state, the need for a competent Lord Mayor of Orlu Zone was indispensable. It was a need that must be met if the Governor's development effort must reach the people for which they were met. The need for competent hand became paramount considering that some government appointees abscond on their duties and either go on self-satisfying sprees or take actions that are very inimical to the Governor's programmes, and in the process create disaffection and bad will for the Governor among the rural populace. But where there is a competent hand, the Governor would get good will and affection from the people because they are touched by the Governor's programmes.

It is in line with his determination to ensure that the people of the grassroots felt the impact of the Governor's programme that Hon Prince Ford Ozumba, Lord Mayor of Orlu Zone, who was appointed by the Governor about eight months ago to superintend over the affairs Orlu Zone Mayoral Affairs took the Governor's development programmes to the people for which they were meant, and in the process created good will and love for the Governor in the rural populace.

Upon assuming office, the Hon Mayor of Orlu Zone, Hon Prince Ford Ozumba, took it upon himself that the people must get the effect of the Governor's programme. He hit the ground running, beginning with the Relocation of the Foam/Mattresses dealers to their new location.
The Foam/Mattress dealers continued to have challenges with the shop allocations during the time of Chief Ichie Best Mbanaso, creating a problem for the relocation of these Foam/Mattresses dealers to the location.
But things took a new turn when Hon Prince Ford Ozumba assumed the mantle of leadership of the Orlu Mayoral Affairs. He met the Foam/Mattresses dealers doing business along Owus Avenue, Orlu. But this location was mapped out for other ventures by the Governor, and there was need to relocate them. The foam/mattresses dealers had refused to vacate the Owus Avenue until the arrival of Hon Prince Ford Ozumba as the Honourable Mayor of Orlu Zone. He used his good will and contacts in the area and convinced the dealers, leading to their relocation to their new location near International Market, Orlu.
Another task the Hon Mayor took on was the creation of the entrance to Mgbuka (Spare-Parts) Market in Orlu. The Mayor made sure that the entrance was created to give the dealers and their customers access to the market. This timely intervention made the Mgbuka Market accessible again after fifteen years of neglect. And in reciprocation the dealers named the road Etodike N'Orsu Road, after the Hon Mayor.
Not resting on his oars, the Hon Mayor went on to ensure the establishment of industrial harmony with all the market traders in Orlu. This was very crucial considering that nothing can be achieved in atmosphere that is rancorous. The Hon Mayor organized meetings with the various traders within the Orlu metropolis at a time some said the traders were suspicious of the intentions of the State Government.

He met with disgruntled traders with accumulated anger against the Government for one major reason: the Government of Imo State was said to be owing virtually every trader in Orlu through past administration in the Mayoral Affairs. The Hon Mayor brought to bear his political ingenuity and displayed his negotiation skills to get the disgruntled traders who claimed they were been owed by the state government to support the reelection of the Governor. He succeeded in striking a deal with the traders and the outcome was that they supported the reelection of the Governor, leading to his landslide victory.

The Hon Mayor also cleared and prepared the Okporo Electrical/Electronics, Onitsha Park Shopping Mall, Building Materials Market Umuowa and the Foam/Mattresses Market for the movement of traders into these markets. He also cleared the refuse dump at the International Market Orlu, cleared and prepared the ground for the proposed site for Ama Hausa near the International Market Orlu.

Then came work on the Carrot Junction, where for several years was a death trap to motorists and travelers. The Hon Mayor of Orlu breathed back life and made some earth works on the Carrot Junction Road and brought traffic and economic life back to the area.
What about the tow truck acquired for road clearance? The Hon Mayor acquired and repaired a tow truck now used for the clearance of broken down vehicles on our roads. This single acquisition has made it possible to clear broken down vehicles within Orlu Metropolis faster than was the case previously. The outcome of this is that motorists no longer park and leave their vehicles unattended along Bank Road, Enugu Road, Owus Avenue, as was the case previously. This brought sanity and discipline and gave Orlu a true image of a city.
Again, the Hon Mayor of Orlu Zone Created Orlu Temporary Municipal Park. The Hon Mayor cleared the traffic jams in Orlu and created the temporary Orlu Municipal Park. This led to the clearing of the Amaigbo Road Orlu of its notorious traffic jams, and sanity too returned on the road.

What of security? Did the Hon Mayor disappoint in this regard? No. he embarked on the housing of the State Security Service officials and the Federal Road Safety Corps. Previously, the State Security Service was housed in a tiny two rooms behind the Orlu Local Government building. Seeing the said office as not fit for a zonal office, the Hon Mayor relocated them inside the Mayoral Office Complex for efficiency and co-ordination between the two offices. The Federal Road Safety Corps were not left out, as the Hon Mayor also relocated them to the Mayoral Office Complex.

What Hon Prince Ford Ozumba, Lord Mayor of Orlu Zone, has achieved in a short period cannot be covered in any singular outing of this scope. But despite the short time he has spent as the Mayor of Orlu Zone, he has represented the Governor and the state government well, bringing the Rescue Mission to Orlu Zone and proving to be a round peg in a round hole.
